They gave away one of our reservations, and attempted to put us up in a hotel off the island. We were insistant that they correct the problem, and they actually had to remove the couple to whom they had given our room. There are a limited number of rooms on the Mont, so make sure you re-confirm your spot! Location of this hotel is perfect. It is immediately through the entrance to the Mont. As with all (6) of the hotels, you will still have to climb around on stony outdoor steps to get to your room,(part of the charm). The next morning, some kind of plumbing problem occurred, and raw sewage came down some of the rocky outdoor steps. Although completely unacceptable, it seemed that because it occurred outside, there was a much stronger likelihood it could be sanitized properly. Hotel restaurant did not have a very extensive menu, was very expensive, and not particularly tasty. There are lots of other choices on the way up the hill.

Ottimo.

We had a lovely stay at the Mont St Michel, the famous "omelette" was justified!
It will be fun to return after 20o7, when the works they are planning to do to restore the Mount as it was in the past( surrounded by water) will be completed!

This was the perfect hotel to enjoy the midieval setting of Mont St Michel. The hotel was historic, interesting and comfortable. We would have appreciated mints on the pillow but otherwise, we loved this hotel!!!

We stayed at La Mere Poulard for the first night of our holiday to Brittany. Our accomodation consisted of a single room off a twin (Room 205) in an annexe building off the main hotel.
The rooms were a little noisy due to passing tourists and a nearby bar but that didn't spoil our stay
The food in the restaurant was a little pricey (although August on Mont St Michel must be expensive everywhere) but the service was attentive and the food was delicious
We enjoyed our stay enormously and wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel and venue as an excellent start to a French holiday
Mont St Michel at 5am on a summer morning when the streets are empty is special!

The only bad part of the hotel was that I wasn't sure where it was on the island and how to get to it. Turns out there is only one way in to Mont Saint Michel. La Mere Poulard is right inside of it only a few steps from the entrance. While the restaurant was a little pricy, 350Euro for 5 people, the food was excellent. Take note that if you are traveling with anyone who doesn't like or can't climb stairs, do not stay on Mont Saint Michel. Everything is built on a big rock. Hence, you have to climb a lot to get to your room.

Tutto eccellente ma se cenate nel ristorante dell'albergo tenete conto che i prezzi sono molto elevati in rapporto alla quantità e alla qualità e le specialità del giorno proposte hanno un elevato sovrapprezzo non sempre dichiarato

Our room at La Mere Poulard was perfectly fine, the bathroom being unusually spacious for a French hotel. We learned, unfortunately, that Thursday morning is delivery day and thus we were woken very
early with considerable noise because our room overlooked
the front gate and the tour bus/delivery truck parking. There was very little hotel service to speak of, but this was not a problem. We took the advice of others on this site and elsewhere not to eat in the celebrated restaurant because of a poor quality/price ratio. Overall, as others here have noted, staying overnight on Le Mont St. Michel is a wonderful and magical way to see it. Overall, we had no complaints--other than the noise and that was not the hotel's fault. Because this survey asks about the hotel and venere.com, let me say this is the third hotel I have booked with venere.com and I have been very pleased with the site's service.

If you have the chance to stay on Mont St Michel, do it. Being able to walk about at night when the tour groups have gone home is priceless. La Mere Poulard is located in a great spot. The staff were very friendly. I would definitely stay there again.

The only negative is the 4 floor walkup. Lugging several bags up and down was a bit much. The narrow staircase complicated matters. I understand that this is a historic building, but a lift (even just a dumb-waiter) would be a big improvement.

La Mere Poulard is the closest accomodation on Mont Saint Michel, which was an advantage to us with 4 suitcases. While the hotel is excellent, it is surpassed by the quality of food at their restaurant. What a feast!

If you drive to Mont St. Michel, park in the lower lot to the left, go through the gate in the wall to the hotel, immediately on your left as you look up the street. Get an electronic pass for the hotel parking and unload your bags before moving the car to the lot on the causeway. It's the only place to park overnight, because of the tides. The hotel has loads of charm - and steps - and no elevator. Our room was in an annex, up 58 steps and down 9, and there were much higher ones than that. Room was attractive and fairly spacious but had no closet or drawers. The bathroom was NOT charming - very dull lights and only handheld shower in the tub. View was attractive - garden and rooftops. No English language TV. The townspeople vote on what channels to receive. The staff was friendly and happy to speak English, even if you spoke French(!) Dinner in the restaurant was good, but not great, and expensive, as are most things there. Most of the shops carry much the same items & they seem to be slightly cheaper up the hill. Any negatives are easy to ignore, as M-S-M is fabulous and unique. If at all possible, stay on"the rock" - it's worth it.

Any additional services such as breakfast or drinks in hotal bar very very expensive. 6 euro for an orange juice!!! but overall very nice place to stay. Because you are ritht in the middle of the mount it is extremely busy but at night it was dead so you could walk around in peace.

The room rate was less then listed on hotel wall. When given bill on check-out, the higher rate was listed. Hotel adjusted to the lower rate when I showed them a copy of my reservation. Not sure how this would have been handled if I did not have a copy of the reservation with me at checkout.
