The room was spacious by European standards, but a long way from the train station. We had to take a taxi (10 euro). There is no lift, so be prepared to climb up stairs with your luggage. Our triple room opened on to a private patio with an awning and table and chairs, which was nice, but it was also surrounded by private residence buildings so the view was nothing to smile about. There was an A/C unit, but no A/C flowed from it, only heat, and the beds were very hard. The front desk staff was hit and miss - the check-in girl was not very personable at all but a girl that was on duty later was very helpful in finding a nice restaurant for dinner (We highly recommend LaFonterna just around the corner!). All in all, if you're looking for a jumping off point to visit Portevenere and the Cinque Terre, don't stay in LaSpezia. Although it is convenient to the boat service and the train, it is not a tourist-friendly town.

We had an excellent stay at Hotel Corallo. We used it as a base for visiting the Cinque Terre. We found the staff to be very welcoming and helpful. The quality of service was excellent and we thought great value for money. We would recommend this Hotel for anyone who wanted to stay in La Spezia.

Nice clean room with lovely terrace. Opened onto the courtyard in the back which was very large with lots of buildings but very quiet at night. People next door weren't quiet though and we could hear them fairly easily (but I just put in earplugs!). Shower was tiny but usable, rest of bath nice. Breakfast was alright but not a lot of variety. The kids loved the hot chocolate though! Staff was very nice, courteous and helpful. We had a marvelous dinner at a seafood place very close to the hotel. Easy 10-15 minute walk to the boats to Cinque Terra (I think the only way to go as you see nothing from the trains!)

Very nice staff, clean room, rich breakfast. Definitely a good experience, would return. --- Staff molto cordiale, camera pulita, colazione abbondante. Un'esperienza ottima sotto molti punti di vista, decisamente da ripetere.

We spent 2 nights at the Hotel Corallo. It was most enjoyable. The front office staff was very helpful, the breakfast and breakfast areas were more than adequate, except I was surprised to be charged for an additional cup of coffee, and the location near town and the harbor offered the best of both worlds. However as a result there was some street noise, but not enough to be too troublesome or ask for a room change. The rooms were small but extremely clean and well equipped. There is little space in the lobby, however there is a charming little nook upstairs to relax, and discuss your plans and adventures. The restuarant recommendations were excellent. We took the ferry to Cinque Terre and rode the train back, it was a memorable experience. Since it was the beginning of November, it was cool, and not crowded at all.

We really enjoyed our stay at Corallo. We took the boat trip to Monterosso and then walked the Cinque Terre - fabulous views. And loved visiting each village especially Corniglia. The hotel Corallo suited our needs. It was quiet, friendly staff and there was a bar next to the hotel for an after dinner drink.

This was our first stay at Hotel Corallo. The hotel was clean, but undergoing construction so it was noisy. Construction equipment was staged in front of the entrance which made it difficult to unload our luggage. Access to the subterranean parking garage was difficult due to a narrow driveway. The breakfast provided was plentiful and the staff very pleasant and accommodating. Unfortunately, I left my sandals in the room. My efforts, both via phone and e-mail have been ignored which lowered my level of satisfaction rating towards competence of employees.

We found the hotel staff very helpful and informative. Breakfast was included. Hotel is within walking distance of the esplanade and bay area. Unfortunately, there are not a lot of choices of cafes in the area. No lift is available so luggage has to be carried upstairs. Not close to train station.

A little more distant from the train station than we expected. Hotel is very nice and served the best breakfast that we had during our two weeks in Italy. Staff was friendly and helpful. Location is noisy if you are assigned a room on the street side of the hotel.

The hotel hosts were friendly and helpful in getting information to Cinque Terre. You can take the train to the villages but we found out taking the boat was better. Great location and easy to find. We wanted to be somewhere close to the Cinque Terre and it was a perfect location. We took the tourist cruise to the first village and hike to the rest of the others. Overall, it took us 1.5 hours but average would be 2-2.5 hours. One of the most beautiful scenery in Italy. We recommend comfortable shoes and light outfit. It was hotter then we thought in September. La Spezia is a great town with shopping center and nice place to relax and watch the sunset.

We had three really good nights at this hotel. As the gateway to the Cinque Terre , La Spezia and this hotel are well placed. It is reasonably close to all amenities although it is just outside of the CBD, but 10 mins walk has you where you need to be (ie boats to CT), 20 mins to the station or about 8 euro by cab. Helpful, friendly English speaking staff, good breakfast and clean rooms. A little bit noisy due to being near a major artery but ask for a quieter room. Many restaurants are about 10 mins walk away. See the CT by boat and then walk between the villages and catch the many trains back between each and to La Spezia. It's just as easy to pay as you go for the trains rather than a package. We will stay here again.

Staff were lovely and very helpful. Breakfast was fine. I booked two rooms, one had a rather strange smell which lingered for all the three days we were there, and as the hotel was full there was no chance of changing rooms. In spite of that we enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to our friends. It was our first visit to La Spezia, but if I go again I would be more than happy to go back to this hotel.

We stayed in La Spezia at Hotel Corallo for 2 nights as a hopping off point for hiking the Cinque Terre. For half the price of any of the 3 stars in the Cinque Terre, it was well worth it. The AC was a nice retreat after 2 long days of hiking. There was a refridgerator in the room, the beds were very comfortable, and breakfast was excellent (though I would like to see some hard boiled eggs on the menu). The hospitality was wonderful as every member of the staff treated us with a smile and a can do attitude. I would definitely recommend this hotel to friends, especially if affordabilty is a factor in the decision to be able to stay in the area more than just 1 night.

We enjoyed very much being in Corallo. It's the ideal place for doing the boat trips to Portovenere and Cinque Terre. Eventhough La Spezia has no beach, some local people told us about Baia Blu. It's about 10 minutes driving from La Spezia (direction Lerici) and it's just wonderful! Last but not least, a big THANK YOU to Mauro and his team, they were very nice with us and gave us lots of good hints.

We stayd for four days in the Corallo and had a double room. The employees were very nice and friendly, the breakfast very good. After 10 Minutes walk you are in the City, the bus to Porto Venere is about 5 Minutes away and the trainstation, from whrer you can visit 5 Terre is about 20 Minutes away, but there is also a bus. We had no problems.

No problems with hotel but front is on fairly busy road. Not many good restaurants in immediate vicinity but one or two in main part of town--- a walk of about 20-25 minutes. Hotel garage is very useful as parking in area is difficult. Ideal location for boats and trains to surrounding area. Hotel owners and staff very helpful and moderate English speakers.

Excellent location for Cinque Terre Travelers. Easy access to bus/train. The staff at the hotel were very helpful, friendly and accommodating. The hotel breakfast cafe was an excellant way to start our day! Grazie, Paolo, for looking out for us! We wished we had allowed for one more day just to hang out in La Spezia. There is an amusement park within a short walking distance, a grocery store close by and a large, covered, daily market on the bus route. The only slight disappointment that we experienced was that the walls do seem thin as you can hear your neighbors when they are in the bathroom...fortunately, ours were not obnoxious and it was only first thing in the morning and early bed time that we heard noice, so it didn't really bother us. Also, we found out that our ATM card would not work in three different machines. We had just enough money to get home with...eek! Thank you, Jesus!

The hotel was well situated for access to the station, boat trips to the various places of interest, a great place to stay for visiting all of the Cinque Terre villages. A pleasant 10-15 mins. walk to many eating houses & also very near to a local supermarket for items you may have forgotten. The excellent up-to-date bathroom with shower cabinet, bidet, toilet, basin & hair-dryer was a very pleasant surprise. the breakfast was excellent, good coffee, variety of choices, well organised & very pleasant staff to greet you.

We enjoyed our trip to La Spezia and our stay in the Corallo hotel to the full. The Corallo is a small, very cute hotel, almost in the middle of La Spezia. However, the traffic is very typical for an italian city, so it has to be clear that the quietness can't be "excellent". So our mid rating for that should not be a criticism, but the truth...;-) The hotel is located in the mid of many one way streets, so the map of the web page is very useful to find the right way through the streets. But once found, you will have a very pretty time in a professional, but also very familiar italian hotel. Enjoy it.

The Corallo is in an excellent location. The neighborhood is very quaint, well-lit and safe, and a short walk to all of the landmarks. The front desk staff is very friendly and knowledgeable and the rooms are clean and well kept. The elevator is wonderful but the stairs are convenient when you're in a rush. The Corallo is an excellent value for the money.

The hotel was a little hard to find, but in a good location. We arrived early in the day and the very kind woman that cleaned the rooms arranged it so that we could have a room off of the patio. It was very nice, we had breakfast out on the patio the next day. The hotel was close to the bus, which we took to the train station and then rode to Cinque Terre, which was absolutely beautiful. We will definetly stay here again if we are ever back in the area.

Warm welcoming to the hotel, nice room, good price, well located near the port and at a reasonable distance to the railway station. Walking distance to a number of good restaurants. The staff was very helpful, polite and nice. And we really enjoyed the breakfast! With style in the design of the breakfast room, service and food itself! And it was tasty! A very good start of the day! We enjoyed staying there. And we would definitely choose it for our next visit to La Spezia.
