Birnbaumhof Pension und Ferienwohnungen is a new, cosy and family-run hotel, located on the outskirts of Schwedelbach and nestled between the enchanting Palatinate forest, Landstuhler Bruch and the Palatinate mountains.
It is the ideal starting point for visiting numerous cultural and culinary places, such as the Imperial town of Speyer, the historic Trier, the German wine road, Luxembourg or even France.
Furthermore, this hotel is perfect as a base for all those wishing to practice different kinds of sports activities. Within a few minutes you may reach a golf court. A bike lane, also suitable for inline skaters and a hiking trail are close at hand.

I had a wonderful stay at Hotel Birnbaumhof! The room was perfect and had all the essentials for my trip including wireless internet. Breakfast was typical European style with fresh fruit, meat and cheeses, fresh bread, yogurt etc. There was even a day with fresh plum cake (or something yummy like that.) As for the location, I thought it was perfect! About 10-15 minute drive from Kaiserslautern out in the country. A quite little German town with lots of biking and walking paths and some great food! Octavia and her husband were very helpful about recommending places to eat and visit and even drove me to dinner one night. I will tell you, that was the best meal I have eaten since my last stay in Europe! To sum it up, if you are looking for a nice place to stay and you like to experience great local food and culture, stay at Hotel Birnbaumhof!

What a lovely place! We arrived late and Octavia graciously accomodated us and made our entire stay wonderful. She speaks excellent English. The room was immaculate, the breakfast generous and delicious. Located on the edge of a typical German village. The area is rural so you awaken to birds singing and the smell of the nearby forest. Very close to Ramstein Air Base yet no airplane noise. VAT form accepted. Excellent value for the price.

Seldom have I stayed at such a pleasant place. The hyper-enthusiastic owner ensures that everything is as good as is humanly possible.The room was spacious, immaculately clean and well appointed. I thought I had finished breakfast then the main course arrived ! I will change future travel plans to allow more time here. This was my first visit and the only improvement I could suggest was in the printed directions from juction 15 on the autobahn which could be better described.

We stayed at Hotel Birnbaumhof twice during our visit to southern Germany in November 2006. We used it as a sort of home base since our son was stationed in nearby Ramstein AFB. The location, buildings and rooms were perfect and just as described. Octavia and Herman our hosts were wonderful and made an extra effort to interact with us and assure that our stay and intermittent travels were pleasant and successful. It is a wonderful place with a calm enough atmosphere that will allow you to slow down and meet local people which is what foreign travel is really all about. We loved the place and will stay there again if at all possible.

HOW TO REACH THE HOTEL
By car
From the motorway A6 Mannheim: exit at Kaiserslautern West at number 15 in direction Weilerbach. You are now on the ring road; keep on driving on the ring road until you reach the roundabout before Mackenbach. Turn right in direction Schwedelbach. In Schwedelbach turn right at the first street.
From the motorway A6 Saarbrücken: exit at Landstuhl/Ramstein at number 13 in direction Ramstein. At the first roundabout in Ramstein, continue in direction Weilerbach/Hirschhorn until you reach the roundabout before Mackenbach. Turn right in direction Schwedelbach. In Schwedelbach turn right at the first street.
By train
From Kaiserslautern main railway station or from Landstuhl railway station, take a bus, taxi or the shuttle service to Schwedelbach. It takes 10 minutes to reach Schwedelbach.
By airplane
From Frankfurt or Saarbrücken airport take the train to Kaiserslautern or Landstuhl and then a bus, taxi or the shuttle service to Schwedelbach.
