we booked for 3 nights, but the 1st night hotel was full, or they simply did not believe in your reservation because we arrived quite late, so they moved in another hotel of lower quality amd we did not get any discount. Stay in "right" hotel was good...clean but not so quite...room are nice but it could be better for a 4 star hotel. Breakfast is great.

v central location - v good value for money. Immediate area run down and a bit gloomy after dark but so near to Blue Mosque that we didn't mind.
Room was nothing special but was comfortable. Staff welcoming though they wouldn't recommend local restaurants preferring to plug a distant expensive fish restaurant.
Breakfast plentiful but not amazing

Friendly staff, great breakfast, comfortable room and a wonderful view from the roof terrace! I would say the only drawback to this place is that it's a bit tricky to find - Tomurcuk Sk. doesn't seem to go directly off Kucuk Aya Sofya Cad. any more... But if you go down Kapiagasi Sk. instead and then turn left into Ogul Sk. and go right to the end you'll end up on Tomurcuk Sk. and you'll see the hotel on your right. And in fact being slightly off the beaten track means it's a quieter and more relaxed area (i.e. no shops to navigate your way past in the immediate vicinity), so it definitely works in its favour!

Tashkonak is a very nice hotel, located around 7 minutes walking from the centre of Sultanahmed, where you find the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sofya. The rooms are rather small, but as it is visible from the pictures. The rooms are clean, daily cleaned, and the staff is very helpful.
One big plus is the terrace, where they also serve breakfast - you really have a stunning, view there.
The only point you need to get used to is the fact that there is a mosquee on the other side of the street - and on the weekends, the muezin calls the believers to the prayers at sunrise (However, if you book a room anywhere in Sultanahmed, you will always be close to a mosquee).
Very good experience!

The staff were unbelievably helpful and friendly. The wifi was free and worked flawlessly. Although the breakfast was more than ample, we would have liked a little more variety in the menu after the first few days. We would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone who likes a little "character" in their hotels. The location of the hotel could not have been more convenient to the major sites in the Sultanhamet.

The hotel staff was very friendly and complaisant. The hotel was very clean and the service appropriate. The rooms are tastefully furnished. We can recommend the airport shuttle service. The hotel is near to all touristy sites (5 min-walk to Sultanahmet camii). The breakfast is standard. We really enjoyed our stay in Tashkonak hotel.

It seems to be very close to Aya Sofia and Blue Mosque but it's not, you have to walk round to arribe there. There are other hotels with less stars but better price and similar rooms and service. Nice breakfast in the terrace and beautiful views.

very good, cheap and comfortable, in the center of historical Instanbul.
Good breakfast included.
Only negative thing: very noisy because of a mosquee rigtly in front of the hotel an a lot of dogs barking in the street.
Ask for an internal room, it's better.

The hotel is well located just 5 minutes walk of the blue mosque, High Zsofia and Topkapi Palace.
The Tram 38 takes you the Taksim area, well after crossing the bridge climb the steps to get there.
The hotel is located in Sultanamhed is a safe area no risks.

The breakfast buffets were ample and delightfully presented in the rooftop dining and viewing area. The location of the hotel is perfect for those who want to be able to walk to the historical sites or get to public transportation easily. The service was good and they treated our group of 26 with courtesy and friendliness. The airport pickup was free and they arranged for our airport return perfectly. There is no elevator so you must be able to climb up to the 4th. floor for breakfast.

We were very pleased with this hotel, and would definitely return if we visit Istanbul again. The staff was wonderful - very helpful. After we arrived, they offered us tea and then sat down with us and a map of Istanbul, and pointed out all the big sights of interest, and recommended how to make the most of our brief stay. The location in perfect - very close to everything. We did pay for the larger room, and it was very spacious - tastefully decorated in a Victorian style with a nice seating area - sofa, chairs, coffee table. They comment is true about the minaret broadcasting the call to prayer right outside the window, but visiting a city with 3200 mosques during Ramadan, I'm not sure you could escape that no matter where you stayed. I can't say enough good things about the staff, and highly recommend this hotel.

Some confusion over prices quoted (euro or lira) and "free" airport pick-up for 3 days or more. Too much "selling" of tours that was not wanted. Good location but overall a slight disappointment compared to other Venere sourced hotels.

It's little bit difficult to find this hotel. Sometimes very big music from Tarkish temple surprised me.
Anyway, the staff was very helpful, and the eating area had nice view.(you can see the sea if it's fine condition.)

Tash Konak hotel is very nice and conveniently placed for a visit of old Istanbul. The rooms are pleasantly decorated in the typical local style, a couple of square meters more wouldn't have hurt, but I think there are larger rooms available with a little surcharge. The hotel staff was very helpful on every occasion. All in all it was very good quality for the price paid.

Excellent location, lots of shops and restaurants nearby and the blue mosque is only ten minutes away. Staff at this hotels are brilliant, they really go out of their way to help you. The hotel is very pretty with gorgeous views from the rooftop area. Only complaint is the call to prayer very early in morning from the mosque across the road.

For a leisure trip to Istanbul this is a decent place to base yourself for a few days. The location is great, as it's in close proximity to practically every site of interest, yet is located in a clean and quiet area (which isn't that common an occurrence in the Sultanahmet area!). However, don't expect the concierge to have the best command of the english language!

We booked two double rooms, our room had two single beds and was very small. Our parents room had a double bed as was really spacious. Our shower had no door which made it nippy and also caused a big mess. I thought it was unfair to charge the same rate for both rooms as the one was way better than the other. As for the location, you probably won't find any better in Istanbul. The view from the room where breakfast is served it beautiful, their do serve a good breakfast. The garden where you can enjoy a drink is also very relaxing. Their airport transfer service is convenient and comfortable.

My husband and I have traveled extensively together and he has traveled for work. Our opinions of this hotel were different. He felt for the price we could have found a nicer room. I admit, the shower was missing a door and the room was tiny. We couldn't unpack our stuff! I felt the hotel was in a GREAT location and the staff was very friendly and helpful. They are more than willing to help with anything you need! I would stay there again due to the wonderful staff, great breakfast, and superb location. I think my husband would look for a different hotel!

Nice small hotel in the heart of Istanbul. Quite close to the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia and the old town centre.
Wonderful roof-terrace for breakfast with sea view, but the breakfast-service-lady is a bit lazy.
Ask for rooms with sea-view or in the upper levels of the hotel where you can see (and hear) the Blue Mosque. Staff is friendly (speaks english and german) and very helpful.
I would recommend this hotel to everybody who wants to have clean, central acommodation and won`t spend too much money.
See you again!

Our stay at Tashkonak was very satisfactory. The rooms were not very soundproof, but the hotel is in a quiet street, so this was not too much of a hassle.
Breakfast was lovely, however we were not able to get a seat in the dining room on one of the mornings - I am not sure how they would cope in peak season! Perhaps they are able to spread some more tables out further onto their balcony...?
The hotel was very close to the Blue Mosque, and in short walking distance to the local restaurants, etc.
All in all, we certainly enjoyed our stay and felt that Tashkonak was very good value for money.

A quiet hotel, nicely decorated, however surrounding area of the hotel looks deserted (maybe because it is still the off season - 12March) sorts of located in one of the back alley of the Sultanahmet area. I am quite lucky to get a double room with the view of the Marmara Sea. On the first night of staying there, the heater didn't really work, the room is cold, luckily the hotel provide us with 2 thick blankets, but it is still quite cold. Then it was better for the next 4 nights. The queen size bed is a bit small, a little hard, but I have no problem with sleeping. Toilets are clean and well taken care off, although it is a bit small (even for an Asian like me). The staff were always around to provide services, and they are friendly as well. The breakfast terrace provide a very nice view of the Marmara Sea. The breakfast is pretty much the same everyday, breads, butter and jams, cheeses, yogurt, olives, tomatoes, cereals, hot drinks and juices. There is also a computer with free Internet access at the lobby. within walking distance to a lot of restaurants, DoyDoy restaurant is one of them, and usually are filled with tourists. Blue Mosque, HagiaSophia, Topkapi Palace, Sultanahmet Tram Station, Hippodrome, Arasta Bazaar are located nearby. Overall, a nice, quiet, beautiful, small boutique hotel with a good price that is perfect if all you need is a place to sleep and rest after a full day of walking and discovering Istanbul.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Tashkonak. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Good views of the sea and Blue Mosque from the rooftop breakfast area. Nice breakfast. I'll stay there again.
The neighborhood was a bit dark at night, but the location was an easy walk to major sights and public transportation.

The best thing about the hotel is its staff--they were very accommodating--got ice for us--picked up at the airport as per agreement--helped us make contact with our travel agent.
the worst thing was the lack of a no smoking area especially at breakfast but since Turkey is a smoking country it's part of the scenario unfortunately.

This hotel is fantastic. We arrived at the station after catching the overnight train from Thessaloniki, Greece and the driver had to ask for a few directions but once there we were definitely in the right place. It is located behind the Blue Mosque and within easy walking distance of all the main attractions. The staff here were fantastic and bent over backwards to help. There was a very reasonable buffet breakfast on the rooftop each morning and an added bonus of wireless internet in the hotel (we had our own laptop and were able to access the net free of charge) I cannot recommend this hotel more highly for its location, the staff, the clean rooms just about everything. Thank you all for a wonderful stay.

A great place to stay - close to everything. The staff was very friendly. They did take us to a rug shop owned by their "friend." I'm sure this is normal in Istanbul, but you may have to work pretty hard to say "no" to visiting the rug store. Overall a nice stay!

This hotel has the advantage of being located in the central area of Sultan Ahmet (5 minutes walk from the Blue Mosque) as well as being in a residential area, across from a small mosque. It allows the welcome experience of life in a neighbourhood. Also, there are some good little restaurants close to the hotel which makes it very practical to go out even late at night.
The staff is friendly, helpful and competent, at all levels. Although, from what I gathered, the staff members are employees of the hotel, they all display the type of care that you normally experience in a family-owned hotel.
The room I had was quite adequate in size and, most important, it was clean. I stayed for 11 days.
I specially recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to get slightly out of the beaten track.

The Tashkonak hotel haven't emergency exit and the photos are false.

It is unfortunate that the hotel was undergoing building extensions and so we had constant banging just the other side of the wall of our room, which went on until 7.00pm. One night they were pouring concrete until well after midnight. When going on holiday, you expect to be able to relax and unwind in peaceful surroundings, which clearly was not our experience at the Tashkonak. The hotel was apologetic and tried to be accomodating but I felt that they should warn guests when making reservations that they are undergoing renovations - if I had known about it, I would definitely have booked to stay somewhere else. Although the hotel was very clean and the pictures reflected on the website were more or less representative of the accomodation offered, what they don't show is the surrounding area, which has unfortunately become very run-down. As a consequence, the 'view of the Marmara Sea' is rather spoilt as the view is over rooftops in a bad state of repair which are being used for storage with shack-type structures erected on top. This is not true of the whole Sultanahmet area, as just 200m up the hill, in the region of Sultanahmet Square, the area is a lot nicer and more upmarket. The other disappointing area was the "internet cafe" which does not look at all like the picture on the web and actually comprises just one PC which was not available for use at all during our stay.
