At the edge of the historic city center, the Penz is a short walk from the main train station, with many bars and restaurants within walking distance. We were in Innsbruck for skiing, and were thrilled with the convenience of the location--a short walk to the free shuttle bus stops (free buses provided to transport skiers). Our room was average sized, decorated in modern minimalist style, with a spacious bathroom. The only issue with our room was the temperature. Turning the heat down didn’t cool it sufficiently for sleeping. Opening the windows worked well, but in a room facing the street this meant that throughout the night we were woken by people returning from the bars, and by early morning garbage trucks. I'd recommend asking for a room that doesn't face the street. The front desk staff was friendly, but we were a bit disappointed at the level of service provided. While we are in the minority as cross-country skiers, we expected the staff in a 4-star hotel to at least be able to explain to us where to find information about skiing locally, to be able to provide us with bus schedules etc. We had to find this ourselves through several internet searches. The staff in the hotel bar was very helpful and efficient. The breakfast buffet made up for any minor inconveniences though. Breakfast is served on the 5th floor, in a glass-enclosed room affording a panoramic view of the Alps. The view was breathtaking, and the buffet was also quite impressive. The buffet had the largest spread of fresh & exotic fruit that I've seen, along with a selection of meats, cheeses, pastries, and fresh-pressed juices. We also really enjoyed the free Prosecco. In short I would highly recommend the Penz Hotel to people looking for a clean and modern hotel free of Tyrolean knickknacks and oil paintings of the Alps. If you are reasonably independent and don’t mind not having a concierge on site, the location and convenience of the hotel more than makes up for the lack of handholding.

Everything was very good at the hotel. You can reach it by a about 15 minute walk from the station and you are very close to the city. The breakfast is excellent.
Overall it has the athmosphere of a business hotel but there were several kids in the breakfast room (baby to teenager)
The internet costs you 1 cent per minute and a network cable is available at the reception.
I would go again to this hotel!
