We stayed a full week in a junior suite on the roof level. The ambience was excellent and loved the appearance of the hotel. The staff were fantastic and made us feel very welcome indeed. All staff included, breakfast room, bar, reception, and not forgetting Adis our chambermaid. After Havana the Raquel we went to Cienfuegos. We would certainly go back to the Raquel

Very charming colonial hotel situed in Habana Vieja..few metres far from the most nice squares. The only problem is that some rooms have no windows...so if you want to make a reservation ask for a room with "ventana" .... The experience in general was very very good...I will come back in this hotel

This was an excellent choice of hotel amidst a sea of options. The history, preservation and grace of this building is astounding. Location is excellent, 1 block to Plaza Vieja and its fine restaurants. A perfect starting off point for discovering all that CUBA has to offer...and it has lots.....ensure you get a room with a balcony.

The Hotel Raquel is an excellent hotel, well located in the centre of Old Havana. The staff are very friendly and welcoming, and helpful in making reservations and general tourist advice. We would certainly stay here again.

We arrived in the evening and the staff wished us welcome. Theluggage where braugt to the room. The electricity did not function and after 5 min. we had another nice room. The new room was better than the first one.

Beautiful hotel in Old Havana. The stained glass atrium and old elevator are delightful and definitely add to the charm. Would recommend this hotel to anyone.

The rooms/location and correlation between website and hotel were very good. The problem is it's classified as 4 star and they try and rip you off. Everytime we went to charge something to the room we were told the tills were broken, had been rung off, closed earlier to which we were expected to pay cash for everything which we even saw went straight in pockets. At no point of our stay did they tell us we could not use credit card upon check out, when we went to check out-and they knew we were checking out as we had requested a later stay-we were told that we could not settle our telephone bill by credit card as the machine was broken (which was 5 phone calls under 25 minutes in total for $230USD) We argued as to why they did not tell us that earlier when they saw us and said hello 6 times that morning as it was not like it was $5, they just shrugged and would not show us where the ATM was and could not tell us the street they just kept saying up a few blocks. We ran around like mad for 50 minutes as they all were closed, finally found one (it was 50m away from the hotel's front door). When we returned they then said they had forgotten to add the mini bar to the check out bill they had just shown us (which was correct but they knew we were having to get cash out)and we owed even more. We only just had enough and they refused to apologise or justify why they did not tell us that the machine was broken before checking out. They laughed when we said we were about to miss our plane due to their ignorance/rudeness/unprofessioanlism and we had to rush to the airport in what was then peak hour and nearly missed our plane, that would have resulted in $500 US for a new ticket. I travel a lot all over the world, used to manage hotels, nearly never get ripped off and thoroughly understand the economic situation of Cuba, I knew it would be like that generally but I did not expect to receive that level of horrendous service and 'miscommmunication' in a 4 star hotel. The room was not cleaned when we arrived (meaning they gave us the keys and we went in and it had not been cleaned). This is a very basic thing I would expect. The breakfast was horrendous...it was the worst hotel breakfast I have ever had anywhere. Then there was a problem with the reservation and due to some miscommunication betweent venere.com the hotel staff wanted us to pay $80 more per night than we have reserved it for. This was sorted by the venere staff but after that the receptionist wanted us to pay for the phone call she made to Venere office (which is also in Havana) which was a ridiculous thing to ask. And eventually she snapped at us. In summary I would not go back there. Hristina
