The Hotel Bosone is situated inside the Palazzo Raffaelli, once the house of the Patrician Eugubina Bosone family, for which Petrarca dedicated a sonnet. Also Dante Alighieri visited this Palace, located in the heart of the historical centre of Gubbio, few metres from Piazza della Signoria.
Today this property is a charming small hotel, that you will remember for its frescos snd the details of the furnishings. The property features guestrooms and suites of the Renaissance period enriched by fresco ceilings.
The hotel's official restaurants are the famous Taverna del Lupo and the Bosone Garden, owned by the Mencarelli family.

Hotel Bosone is a wonderful place to stay. Our room was spacious with 12 foot high cielings. The breakfast room is gorgeous. The garden restaurant is wonderful - we ate there both nights of our stay. Gubbio is a fantastic medieval hill town - I couldn't get enough of the local architecture. However, it should be noted that there are lots of steps and hills so it may present a problem for those that can't walk easily.

We had a wonderful 2-night stay in the Hotel Bosone. The room was very comfortable with beautiful views of the town and valley. The hotel certainly has the feel of the former home of a duke, which is what it is. The staff was extremely helpful, providing us with a very early breakfast before the official opening time of the breakfast room. The only drawback is that while the hotel is rather close to the center of town, it is up a steep hill. We arrived by bus and were saved by the fact that there is an elevator inside one of the buildings -- it took us most of the way up. However, it is runs only during business hours.

This hotel was one of the best i have stayed at in Italy. It is beautiful inthe first place, the rooms are gorgeous, and they had one of the most comfortable hotel beds I ever slept in. The staff were welcoming and helpful, and I felt almost as if i were visitng relatives. The room where they had breakfast had lovely renaissance "grotuesques" frescoes that made eating a pleasure. i would almost say that had Gubbio itself not been so warm and welcming and lovely to visit, we would have spent our entire time at the hotel. We had a lovely view, and just the ambience created here was unforgettable. i will definately stay at the hotel again.

Good. The only problem was the quietness of the room.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hotel Bosone. It's a good combination of old palazzo and modern hotel with lovely old frescoed breakfast room. The staff were very welcoming and pleasant, English was spoken, and our room was very comfortable and quiet, at the back of the hotel, with good bathroom and view over the rooftops of Gubbio to the countryside. Our only criticism is that there were no drawers for clothes and very few hangers! The breakfast was very good with good coffee. The streets in Gubbio are steep, so wherever you stay you need to climb steps or steep streets but hotel in good central position. No visitor parking in centre but free, safe parking a few hundred metres from hotel. Would definitely recommend and hope to return. Gerry and John Barton

We loved this hotel. Upon arrival, the young woman at the desk could not have been nicer. We spoke a little Italian, she spoke a little English and together we had a lovely conversation. There is a suite with a frescoed cieling and the breakfast room has frescoes. Gubbio is a lovely thriving town. Dinner at Taverna Del Lupo was delightful. If you love Italy, it is worth getting off the beaten path to spend a few days here. Don't miss this hotel - the gal at the front desk is charming and makes for a fun stay. Visit Fabbrica Ceramiche Biagioli near the hotel for gorgeous pieces.

This is a very attractive hotel with some beautiful rooms, and it is in a very choice location. Parking in Gubbio is difficult, so you are probably going to be doing some hiking to reach the hotel from your car.

My wife and I spent one night at Hotel Bosone in October 2005. Its location is perfect for exploring Gubbio, but getting there by car is quite a challenge. At first, we thought this was impossible because of street repairs, but the tourist information office gave us directions on how to maneuver back and forth up the hill to reach the hotel. Getting back to the public parcheggio proved to be much easier. Our room was quite large by Italian standards, but lacked any chairs, which we had to request, and one of the bedside lights didn't work, which the hotel staff knew but did nothing about. The receptionist was quite helpful and made reservations for us at "Taverna del Lupo" where we had an excellent dinner.

If you are driving and don't know Gubbio suggest that you get directions for the hotel from the Tourist Information. There is no parking at the hotel

Everything seems to depend on what room you get. Some have frescoes (as does the pretty dining room), while others, like the ones we had, are cramped and uncomfortable. The main problem is that if you are at the back of the hotel, despite the lovely views, it's incredibly noisy, with a deafening rock band playing at a local bar until well after midnight. Also, the walk up to the hotel from the car park is extremely steep, so only the physically fit should book here. The hotel has its own parking lot, but it's also quite far away.

The Bosone is very centrally situated. The parking is a good walk away, but you can drive right to the hotel and leave your luggage. We have a fabulous room, probably the best in the hotel. A large suite with spectacular views. I gave the hotel a low score on noise because there is a restaurant right below oour room and they had a wedding the night we were there, so beware of Saturday night stays. Other than that minor issue, the stay was great and we would definitely do it again.

The Bosone is an excellent hotel. While the room was a bit small so was the price, in my option, for the quality. The staff was very professional and provided good information on both the property and the town, Gubbia.

We loved the Bosone... The front desk staff was extremely helpful, friendly, (patient with my pathetic attempts at italian)and competant. The dining room was beautiful (frescoed ceilings!), but for the "discount" price you get a relatively simple room, not the ones in the web site photos. All the same, we loved the city and the location. DEFINATELY take the tram ride up the mountain, and bring your camera!

Hotel Bosone is an amazing hotel. All the staff were most welcoming and helpful. The room was good, view outstanding, and my only concern is that if the word gets around too much the prices will increase.

The hotel in near the centre of the old town but you can park quite close. The problem as with all ancient cities is finding the hotel in because of the one way streets. You need to pretend you are a local and ignore some stop signs. However it is well worth the trouble because the hotel is excellent we had a room in the roof with view accross the valley. The hotel is very well placed to explore the whole town on foot (there is no other way). We have a very plesant stay and we will go back again

A very clean, pleasant hotel located near the very active center of old Gubbio. A challenge to find, the temporary parking on the street in front was helpful before having to park outside the town walls some 5-10 minutes walk (to be expected in such locations). However its location near restaurants and shops in this very steep hillside town made all worthwhile. While the included "breakfast" was rather spartan, the accommodations were very clean and modestly pleasant. Originally located street-side, they were able to move us to a room on the other side overlooking the town which was much quieter and certainly much more picturesque. Some of the staff spoke very good English, and all were pleasant and helpful. Just wish their website gave better directions to hotel: took us almost an hour to find it (by car) due to seeming haphazardness of one-way streets and lack of street identification so common in such medieval towns. But, once found, well worth the visit!!

The hotel is a lovely 700 year old building almost at the summit of the town. We were offered a suite for the price of a room and had a sumptuous room for us and our two young children. The ceiling frescos were a little shabby, but we felt we were staying somewhere special. Unfortunately, however, there was no airconditioning and with the windows open the noise of the twon carried up to the room making for a hot and disturbed night. A stay at any other time of the year would have been a pleasure.

Our room was simply but tastefully decorated and it had a great view of Gubbio. The location of the hotel is spectacular from an historic and scenic perspective. It also is very close to several excellent restaurants. The service was good. The property is intimate which is something that we appreciated. My two recommendations are (1) that better maps and driving directions are supplied in advance and that clear and correct instructions for parking in the municipal lot be given. I was not told about market day on Tuesdays and was towed with a 90 Euro cost.

The first two-room apartment we had was very noisy, but we changed to another two-room apartment after the first night and found it quiet and charming. We were very happy with the change!

The hotel staff were always very accomodating, the room was somewhat marked around the walls, but was clean. The location was ideal, just a problem finding the road as it was one way, and the roads within Gubbio are somewhat a maze.Exellent room where breakfast was served, would use hotel again.

We were a family group travelling together. Three adults. Our room was more like an apartment. There were two bedrooms w/a hall a bath. It was extremely large. There were beautiful frescoes on the ceiling and nicely decorated. Breakfasts were also very good. This hotel was a wonderful experience.

We were very happy with the hotel and would recommend it. Staff were very helpful and friendly. The only negative point was the noise from outside at night - but this is probably something one cannot easily avoid in a central hotel. One minor point - breakfast would have been better if there had been fresh milk.
