HOTEL REVIEWS

Italy, Jan 2008
Hotel staff was rather rude and impolite. Cleaning women used to knock at the door early in the morning yelling and smoking, so the corridor stinked for hours. Room was ok, spacious and quiet, though shower had no shower stall and you had to wash yourself standing on the floor, nearly flooding the whole bathroom. In conclusion, price was too high for the services offered (no breakfast either). But the marvellous landscapes of Chiantishire could also make up for that...

Casprini da Omero is a very nice hotel with a very good restaurant and bar attached to it. It's right next to a major road that allows easy access to most of the Chianti region. Staff are really nice and helpful. The only negative remark I can make is that the doors to the corridor are rather thin so that other guests can be easily heard unless they are very quiet. Overall I had a very nice stay there.

The receptionist, showed no interest on our arrival of 4 persons. we had to drag our luggage up to 2nd floor, no porterage offered!!! Otherwise, the room was fine, garden area lovely, restaurant very good.

With breakfast not included the casprini is a rather expensive ** star hotel. The athmosphere though is quite ok. No aircon, but it worked well, even while we had hot days (30+ celsius). The bathroom is a little bit small, otherwise the rooms are spacious.

We drove past the hotel twice before we saw the sign! Perhaps tell people to look out for the large vertical orange sign high up - we were looking for the small arrows. We were initially disappointed that the hotel didn't do dinner, but we walked to the hotel recommended (3km road & path, though it seemed longer - took us 1 hour 20 mins). We had a great meal there, and it was great that the hotel owner picked us up afterwards to bring us back to the hotel. There was a lovely garden area for breakfast, which was very good.

We really enjoyed our stay. We stayed only one night because we were walking from Firenze to Siena. The restaurant was exceptionally good; I had the best spaghetti bolognese ever! The small shop was excellent for everything we needed for our picnic along the way.

Room ok. Bathroom very poor. It is very comfortable to have the bus stop for Firenze in front of the hotel.

This property was signicantly out of town from Greve, we were on bikes, so it was difficult to actually enjoy the town of Greve in Chianti. This should be highlighted in the location. We would have choosen a nice hotel in Greve to be better centered.

For us this vas a new experience, to spend a couple of days in the middle of the wine-district of Toscana. The dinner we had the first day of our stay was excellent, so imagine our dissapointment when we returned to the hotel the second day and found the kitchen closed.

Our flight was delayed out of London so it ended up being about 2.30/3am by the time we arrived. I had tried to call the hotel to tell them we would be late but the person that answered didn't speak English so there was nothing I could do. We couldn't wake anyone when we arrived so had to sleep in the car. They did give us a discount on the room for that night, and I appreciate it wasn't their fault, but perhaps if someone had spoken English we could have arranged to leave a key somewhere. There people on the reception other days did speak English.

It is a perfect place to stay if you want to travel around in Toscana.

Don't stay here unless you like 1960's spring coiled beds that enable you to walk the next day, grumpy old men who yell and wave their hands at you when you check in or ask any sort of questions about the area and sightseeing, and extremely loud traffic of cargo trucks at 2am outside your window!!!

Pro's: far away enough from Florence to offer a quiet place to stay; fair quality building restauration; good room comfort; relaxed environment. Con's: bit noisy at night due to parking arrivals/departures streetside (ask for garden oriented rooms).

Clean, basic accomodation. Friendly, English speaking, staff. Noisy, due to plumbing echoing all around the hotel at night. Good food.
