This Hotel provides a good starting point for exploring Genova's old town on foot. Its a nicely kept family hotel in a tiny street close to the main station. Its underground parking place is very convenient when choosing Genova for an Etappe on a longer trip. Price for a 3star Hotel adequate.

Hotel Agnello was better than expected. A Boat Fair was on that weekend and although she was very busy, the receptionist took time to give us tips to move around n recommended a nice restaurant for dinner. Location fantastic for people like us who were there in transit only, spacious rooms for a triple. Would recommend to anyone who needs stopover in Genoa or stay there again myself. Very convenient to train station, with easy access to airport bus.

The staff was most helpful, e.g., providing very detailed maps, making several dinner and transportation recommendations, and finally for arranging for a very early taxi to the airport without added charges. Breakfast was also excellent. Since we forgot to return the hotel key during the wee hours of the morning when we left, the staff also made provisions to pick up the key at the airport.

The hotel was difficult to find because it is on a small one way side street. This area was difficult to access so you had to drive from the harbour and come up from the back end as it was all one way. Although we felt safe in the hotel, we did not feel safe in the area walking to the harbour. We would not recommend this area of Genoa as a vacation spot for a family. The people at the hotel were friendly and helpful.

Agnello d'Oro is a charming accomodation in the heart of swarming old Genova - a short walk away from its giant port - equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay. The breakfast haunts you with its tastiness and the view from an upper floor window can take your breath away - if not with the harbour vista, then with the quite uncurbed height behind the low and hardly existing windowsill. Note that the parking has a height limit of 1,9 m (but parking in the street seems to be also a secure alternative under the façade of the carabinieri headquarters, provided that you ask the hotel receptionist for a special form confirming your stay to put behind your windscreen).

HORRIBLE SERVICE, HORRIBLE BUSINESS! Long story short - I phoned to cancel my reservation as Venere said to do if I was canceling up to the day before the night of stay. I was told they would cancel my reservation without charge due to my circumstance (emergency and had to leave the country early), but what pops up on my credit card? A nights stay at this hotel. After writing a letter and phoning the hotel manager I was told - sorry, tough luck; and now I am paying for their incompetent employees mistake of not writing the cancellation down in the books. HORRIBLE BUSINESS PRACTICE!

We were a group of 4 boys and they gave us a real suite with two bedrooms and two bathrooms ! Excellent service with the 10€ parking place just near the hotel. The location is very good, 2 mn from the port, where we found a good restaurant (Tortuga) and after a good party a the Banana Club. All the employees we spoke with were very nice. No hesitation !

We had a very quiet, large room, with a lovely view from the terrace. The breakfast was great. The front desk staff were either shy, didn't understand us or unhelpful but that wasn't the case with the other staff who were friendly & helpful

Easy to find the hotel, prominent sign along street. Our family of 5 was able to fit comfortably in the room. Underground parking garage had ample room for our Dodge Caravan. Parking was only 20 euro total for two days, well worth it. Breakfast was included and was very filling. Only 10 minute walk to the aquarium and waterfront. Hotel staff very helpful and friendly. Off season so resaurant hours were rather late for kids. Definitly will recommend to friends.

This hotel captured the feeling of Genoa and our attic room had a breathtaking view over the city and port of Genoa. The breakfast quality and service was of an extreemly high standard. The narrow street access to the hotel is not a problem

Close to train station. We had a rental car so we needed parking. The hotel offered parking at a very reasonable rate. Our room was large by European standards. There was also a good restaraunt a few doors away.

My wife and I were happy with the accomodations. We were on the 4th floor but they have an elevator which most hotels do not have in Italy. The staff was very accomodating and helpful. The rooms had a fridge which was supplied with bottled water daily. We had to check out at 5:00 am on our last day in Genoa and to our pleasant surprise the front desk clerk had fresh coffee waiting for us at the front lobby as well as bottled water and he offered us to have continental breakfast even though it does not usually start till 7:30 am. Also the continental breakfast at this hotel was the best we had on the entire trip to Italy.
We did not like the location of the hotel in the small alleyway but it is a short walk to it and it is well lit at night. We would recommend this hotel.

The hotel matches the webpage description to
the letter and is truly in a convenient location. The employees are very helpful and
the breakfast spread wonderful. We would re-
commend it without reservations to other guests.

We had allot of trouble getting our baggage which was lost by airlines. The staff here was VERY helpful. Be sure and check out the roof "garden" at the top of the stairs. We went up there a few times for a great view and never saw anyone else. Close to train but not noisy. Very easy to catch cheap trains to neighboring areas.

Perfect location for Genova. The noisy mornings are compensated by the easy reach of transportation and the hotel parking ( real problem in the whole city) Comparing with other stays of mine, good value for money. Friendly and helpful personnel.

If you espect a 5* accommodation in an area surrounded by 2* buildings you may be disapointed. To have a quite sleep in the center of an italian city center to a price which beats many other hotel was the argument we searched and we found there! Clean, quite, central, friendly staff and a breakfast better than continental italian style. Price / Quality ratio is best!

This hotel is very central clean and quiet however areas near the train station of any big city are less secure at night for single travellers, the hotel warned me about this, which I thought was helpful and offered tips as to when it was safe.

A small 3* hotel tucked away down an alley near the station - satisfactory. I thought it was rather expensive for a small but well appointed room, but maybe this is the norm in Genoa. Has own parking (essential, 6 euros). Easy walking distance to all the sights of old Genoa.

If you are on a backpacker budget and want a cheap hotel near the station, then this is fine. However, I would not recommend it and I would not go back. The hotel is on a narrow back street (and did not feel very safe at night)near the station (also not v. safe). The room and bathroom did not appear to have been decorated since c. 1960. There was building work going on next door from early in the morning. In summary, you could't get a good night sleep and would not want to stay in the room a minute longer than necessary.

Overpriced for this level of property. Extremely hard to find - this street does not appear on maps. It's actually nearby the station but if you come by car like we did you may spend an hour driving through oneway streets of Genova trying to find it.
The building is really old - it smells like mold in corridors although efforts are made to deodorize. In the morning you find yourself in the middle of construction site - the building just next to the hotel is being reconstructed (as of June 2004). Breakfast was very good and personnel nice and friendly.
Prepare to add 11 Euro for parking to the price if you need one.

A nice hotel in a quiet lane close to the Principe railway station. Friendly, well organised, but unfussy and reasonable. Great if you are catching a train, but some 20 minutes from the centre of town. Good Value.

Very clean, good three star hotel in the older part of the city. Some renovation work going on in adjacent buildings, but noise level was not disturbing. Will certainly use this hotel again - the price - service level was excellent, only difficulty is getting there by car. Access from the railway station is very good.

Our lifesaver hotel! Severely jet lagged we took the bus from the airport, stepped off, saw a sign with an arrow for our hotel, walked in and fell into bed! Very congenial staff, excellent and abundant breakfast. A little noisy in the hallway but nothing too disturbing. The room was spotless, the bathroom still smelled like cleaning products. I would stay here again and also recommend it to friends traveling.

Senza infamia e senza lode!

A convenient hotel for a short stay in Genoa, with helpful staff and a good breakfast. Well situated close to the main station but watch out for the public sector strikes which can get in the way when using the buses! I would go back there again although probably after all the building work has been finished relating to the European Capital of Culture which Genoa has been awarded for 2004.

When we travel Europe, we like to get the feel of the old world and avoid the modern boxy hotels. This had the charm of a 250 year old monastery and all the modern conveniences of a Holiday Inn. We were delighted. In fact, the room was the largest of any of the places we stayed in.

A somewhat Spartan but immaculately clean property. The staff were very helpful. The location in the city is not very desirable but it is close to the main train station and on a main bus route which connects to all locations in minutes. Overall, this property provides excellent value despite some obvious shortcomings.
