Narrow! everything is absolutely narrow or small if you prefer! The room is too small for two people, the bathroom is without bidet and the shower isn't sufficiently clean. So, if you can, choose another accomodation!

We travelled with friends - Croke. It was our first stay at the Acquario. Whilst the location was good, the information we received said there was a lift but to access this we had to carry bags up steep flight of steps to reception before using the 1 man lift. Also, reception staff did not speak adequate English and extremely difficult to get understood. Whilst continental breakfast included, the quality and choice of this was very poor in comparison to other hotels we stayed in - very little fresh food on offer. We would not be inclined to stay at the hotel again preferring to pay extra and ensure street level reception and lift. Photos on booking lead us to believe this was the case with the Acquario.

I spent a week on this hotel in Genoa. The staff of the hotel was very kind and helpful. Although the hotel is well located, close to most interesting points, the sourronding itself is not very nice.

Small is the key word. New or newly remodeled is another.
The lift or elevator was so small I had to leave my second bag down below and make two trips.
The room so small I could actually see the 9 inch TV.

Very nice place in the pedestrian centre. Neighborhood not noisy.
One room (over 3 we used) was smelly once the windows were closed. In winter, close the window, wait 10 min., and smell: nothing, fine. Smelly: ask to change room...

Idéalemenr situé, proche de la gare et du vieux port.
Les chambres sont modestes mais très propres.l'hôtel est très silencieux malgré la proximité du centre ville. Je retournerai sans doute à l'Acquario lors de mon prochain séjour à Gênes!

The entrance is a bit scary, especially for non-Italian speakers. When the taxi left me off and said to walk up this narrow alley and drag my suitcase over cobblestones, I almost didn't go. Also there is no lift from the ground floor, so be sure that you can carry your own luggage!

The hotel cannot be seen from the main street and is very difficult to find. At the entrance there ist a steep stair case and nobody helps you with the suitcases. At 1:30 p.m. the room was not ready and we were told to first go for a walk. Very small rooms, tiny beds, lowest comfort, so-called breakfast served on top of the stairs, plastic plates, no bar, no lobby. I had a bad stay and I do not understand why this hotel is rated as a three-star.

This is clearly in all senses not a three-star but a one-star hotel apart from the bathroom which was nice. Very poor entrance, desk, steep stair case (no help with suitcases from unfriendly personnel - only one person), no bar, very tiny small beds. "breakfast" in small space on top of stairs (in which cleaning stuff was packed) with plastic knifes, no fruit juice but a sort of lemonade poured from a pack, no lemon for tea, no plates (quite difficult to spread marmelade onto a few dry biscuits without a plate and with a small plastic knife). I have no words. This hotel does not even merit two stars and was sold for three. Rather scandalous. I have indicated my discontent to the "manager/owner".

The hotel was adeqaute however on arrival I asked for the hotel parking garage and was pointed vaguelyey down the road I was very pressed for time so I went to the first parking garage and paid 60 Euros for a 24 hour stay (and that was a price I beat them down to from around 100) it was only the next mmorning that it became apparent that there was a garage avaialble trhough the hotel for 15 Euros a serious an expensive mistake. Not pleased at all!! I do undertand that the desk clerk couldn't speak English but he could've tried to comminuctae with me better; in I speak English and French andvery very little Italian

Hotel "Acquario" should not have used my Visa number to deduct the cost from my bank account when my booking was confirmed.(a commission was also deducted due to the exchange rate) When I asked them about this by email they did not reply so I went there without a receipt or a voucher and thought there might be problems as I left especially with language difficulties. It was quite difficult to find and is in an interesting but slightly "seedy" area of Genova.
On arrival the staff seemed unfriendly, ( unlike hotel "Casa Mia"in Milan which was excellent in every respect) even rather wary and I had to ask for my passport back as though they were not used to the system.
The room had a wet floor due to a leak somewhere beneath the WC.and when I arrived the water was also trickling into the bedroom area.( the best thing was a superb shower )
When I left the reception staff were more friendly and, when I asked, gave me a receipt and and Visa slip, and we shook hands. Perhaps the hotel is mostly used by Italian people and the staff are not used to visitors from other countries . I think 3 stars is to high for this hotel.
