The hotel staff were very helpful and friendly. They went out of their way to help me print my boarding pass. They may find it of use to themselves to provide a printer with the free internet access as many people must need to print boarding passes now.
The location is spot on - close to the station and, porto antico and centro storico. Once I'd found my bearings it's pretty easy in a car too. It was a bit of a fash parking at the secure garage but there are plenty on car parks over the road including a 24 hour one.
The only problem I had with the hotel was the noise from the street most of the night. This was from buses and I think some work in the street. My room overlooked the piazza.

We stayed here because we were going on a cruise the following day. We had a family room for four. Very comfortable and so much character and charm. Christian was the young man on duty and welcomed us in English and was extremely helpful in helping us find a place to eat. We had a great breakfast in the morning which was included in the price. There is also free internet in the public area. A pleasant place to stay after a LONG day of travel!! We met some fellow cruisers at breakfast from the Neatherlands. We were able to store our luggage at the hotel and walk to the aquarium and do some site seeing before departing for the cruise.

I was only in Genoa overnight/ found Hotel Helvetia to be a comforting, welcoming respite from the edginess of Genoa. The reception clerk was extremely helpful with map and recommendations for walking, dining. The public space in the lobby was clean, inviting, homey, the internet access very much appreciated and valuable. My single room was cozy, bathroom very nice. Easy walk from train station.Would definitely recommend this hotel, would stay here again.

The Helvitia is located in a busy part of Genoa, but it is only a block away from the harbor and the train station(long block). It provided everything we needed including a free computer in the lobby for their guests. The breakfasts were good and the hotel served our needs nicely for the three days we spent in Genoa. It is easy to get to the coastal towns of Portofino, Comelgie and Santa Marguarita. This hotel for anyone who is not driving is a decent choice, centrally located to the main tourist attractions. The staff was very helpful and pleasant to deal with.

Hotel Lobby was as advertised the hallways and rooms had a really bad smell of bleach. Rooms are quite small. We left after one night. Check-in was good they were helpful in telling you where to go in the city. Paying a little bit more in Genoa you get a much better room.

I booked the hotel as a base for three days in and around Genova. It fulfilled that role perfectly and I had hardly arrived before the lady at the desk got out a map and talked me through the town. The price was good, rooms very fair for the price and perfectly clean. I will stop there again when I return.

As we are a family travelling with teenagers, it´s often difficult to find good accomodation , we often have to have two rooms. At Helvetia we lived in a spacious flat to a good price , we all liked it.The location of the Hotel is superb with short walking distance to the harbour and shopping area. The staff were very helpful and service minded. We can recommend this Hotel and hope to come back some day !

Location is close to the historical center and to the port. The street is noisy, but we didn't noticed that as asked for fooms faced to small back street. Hotel is good for walking to the city, visiting small shops on the way there and then returning back through the port.
Employees were very helpful. The young woman on the reception drew the route over the map and tald about all the landmarks. She also gave great advice on restaurant in the old port.
Restroom was too small, but it's OK if you stay for one night only.

For those on a limited budget and without pretentions to luxury, this hotel is a find. Although its immediate surroundings are fairly scruffy, it is safe, clean, friendly and conveniently located on the edge of the most opulent part of the historical centre, near the railway station and closeby some good restaurants. Genoa is a fabulously interesting city for anyone interested in art, architecture, urbanism and history. The best of it is all within easy reach of the hotel. My stay of three days was rich and full. The only grounds for complaint were: a somewhat delapidated shower cubicle, no airconditioning and a voracious mosquito or two.

Hotel Helvetia is in easy walking distance from the station and landmarks, such as Christopher Columbus' house. The shopping in the nearby streets is excellent!!! We liked having complimentary internet access so that we didn't have to go out looking for an internet cafe!

Hotel was easy to find from train station and is centrally located. Despite fronting onto a busy square, the hotel was very quiet inside with good air conditioning. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The only minus point was that the bathroom was showing signs of mould.

We had a four beds room. It was quite dusty but bedsheets and towels were clean. Big cocraches were found at the floor. Breakfast were ok, so was the location. Employees were very nice. Good enough for a couple of nights but not for a longer stay.

There was enough space in the room, the breakfast was good. It was very hot and the airco didn't work very good. The toilet was not smelling fresh when we arrived. Further, everything was really ok. They gave us a map of the city, the staff was very friendly. The location was also very good. It is only 5 minutes walking from the railway station.

Helvetia easily exceeded our expectations in the quality of the room and even more so with the service. All of the staff were most accommadating and went out of their way to make our stay a most pleasant experience. We would not hesitate to give Helvetia our highest recommendation.

We were given a huge apartment for an unbelievably reasonable price, and the hotel as a whole was terrific. In addition, they recommended a nearby restaurant -- GAIA -- that was one of the best we've ever tried in any country. Bravo!

The hotel was centrally located. Staff very friendly and helpful, room comfortable and clean. Within walking distance to the railway station and to all the sightseeing within the city. Walking distance to the beautiful port of Genoa. We would definitely stay again on our next visit. Genoa is certainly a city to visit again and again.

The hotel and room were excellent. The amenities were great with a kitchen corner, air conditioning and internet in the room. Free internet! The only complaint was the noise from the traffic on the street. Outside signs or something would rattle when the buses, etc. passed by. Overall experience was very good since the location was very central. We could walk to major sites and there was a festival at the nearby fort which was lots of fun.
