Basically you get what you pay for. Its certainly cheap and reasonably cheerful. Perfect for those of you on a budget. Accommodation is basic and the facilities are average. Location-wise it was ok but rather touristy for my liking. Loads of hotels and new apartments blocks being built in the area.

A very nice hotel for a stay in Funchal. Both the room and the balcony were very large, and we had a nice view over the ocean.

Not much attention by staff. The acomodation was good. Smell from drains in bath room. Building site opposite was very noisey. Pool is poor lot of dirt and grime in and on overflow channel.I would have expert to advise immediately. Catering area good, location good, staff = reserved

We loved the view and sounds of the water, and location was wonderful for ocean/swimming activities. The walk into town was 25 minutes, but easy along the lido path. The bathroom could have been cleaner, and renovated, slight mold in shower caulking so I didn't want to take a bath. The room size was wonderful though!

Great find this. Good price and great value. Location about 2 miles outside Funchal but regular bus service into town so no problem getting in and out. As other people say, it's not the most modern hotel but it's clean, the rooms are huge, all have balconies (most with sea view) and the women at reception were very helpful. The hotel is in the Tourist Zone - plusses: loads of shops, restaurants and supermarkets; minuses: the restaurants are more expensive, it's full of tourists and it's lacking in character. Best to head for the old town which has excellent, reasonably priced places to eat and a bit more character. The island's bus service is great and cheap, so use it rather than tour busses. Pick up a timetable from the TIC. Only problem with Madeira is not being able to avoid Cristiano Ronaldo's leering mug on every item of merchandise everywhere.

El hotel estaba muy acorde al precio. La habitacion estaba muy amplio y tenia cocina, nevera y un baño grande. La vista al mar era increible, y la ubicacion estaba muy bien tambien.

Excellent value for money. Make sure you have a view. It's breathtaking. We would definitely use this hotel again. It was clean and had everything we needed. Just one little thing. Air-conditioning - noisy. But you can't have everything! Staff friendly and informative. Make sure you know the local bus service well, as it is irregular after 2pm and buses do get very full. It is a very long walk to Fuchal, so good footwear required or very sore feet! Hotel restaurant excellent especially the Beef, try it you won't regret it, as we are Very fussy. Other good restaurants are at the Lido which is about 10 minutes walk away heading towards Fuchal. Particularly 'China Town'. A good Indian can be found if you take a turning on the left and then up the hill, a little walk from the 'China town' restaurant. It is nearly at the top of hill on the left. Very good! Lots of other eating places up there too. AVOID 'Magic. Restaurant' near hotel very, very poor. Hotel about 4 miles out from Fuchal so unless you enjoy walking a lot buses are a necessity. Get a bus map from reception. Times are actually on bus stops, so look in advance. Its worth getting a bus pass from Kiosks near harbour, in Fuchal for 7 days it will save you lots of money and easier. Fares confusing. Nunn’s valley is cheaper to visit by 82 bus than a tour, as very little there. Will cost you 10 euros for two people. Bus can be caught near the harbour on the front, easy! Wine tasting worth a visit if you like History and Madeira wine. Avoid Orchid garden rubbish, took 5 mins to go round. Hotel free bus - make sure you go out for it half-hour before time quoted, as gets full very quickly and off he goes. Not big enough or regular enough. Service bus better overall. Single beds but our maid put them together and made a double, which was nice without asking her. So just ask if not done for you if that is what you want! Shopping centre ok but just like over here lots of shops and takeout foods like McDonalds et

We hope to go back next Easter with the kids (we escaped without them this time!). We will definitely stay at Duas Torres again. The airport busstop is right outside the door. There is an excellent bus service (1, 4, 8, 48) - including the 48 directly to Monte. There is a fine shopping centre across the road. The seaside walkway into Funchal is at the back (front?). There are loads of great restaurants in the area. The hotel restaurant 'O Classico' was really nice. We thought we had booked a double room - it was an apartment looking out to sea. We loved it.

Very good and relatively cheap meals in all restaurants near the Hotel Duas Torres. Cheap and comfortable accommodation, good for individual travellers.

This was the third time at Duas torres. And as usual, good hotel, competent employees and a great restaurant o classico with excellent food and great staff. I will absolutely recommend this awesome accomodation and restaurant!

Duas Torres is very good value for money. The rooms are large and comfortable and kept very clean. The pool is very relaxing and private with views straight over the ocean. We used the small kitchen to self cater and it is a bit cramped for preparation space but quite adequate. The restaurant is excellent--I think it would be 5 star in England-- and the service is the best we've ever experienced. Opposite the hotel, across a main road, is a shopping complex "Madeira Forum" with many good shops including a supermarket in the basement which is open 7 days till 10pm so it's very convenient. There are also restaurants if you don't want to cook. We stayed for 2 weeks. It's worth requesting a room overlooking the ocean as the view is great and rooms facing inland could get some road noise. There's a bus stop outside the hotel for going in to the main part of Funchal. The airport bus stops there too. The courtesy bus is a minibus so may be full and doesn't run at weekends. For sightseeing excursions we would recommend a company called Strawberry World located near the Lido. They have a useful website with links to webcams and other tourist info including maps of where hotels are located. It is very professional setup and the island tours are well planned. This was our second visit to Madeira and to this hotel.

Excellent value-for-money hotel.Superb location - near good range of shops)Madeira Forum),good restaurants and public transport.Advise visitors to purchase a GIRO Card, for use on all services in Funchal Area (Yellow Buses),so all journies are 85 cents each.Example Bus 48 goes from outside hotel to Monte for 85 cents.Helpful pleasant staff, and hotel kept immaculately.Nice to see a wide range of nationalities using the hotel.Would recommend.

This hotel is good value for the money. Decor is a bit dated however the room is very spacious and cooking facilities very useful and convenient shops across the road. I used dining room twice and overall thought it was good value for money. Brekfast was €4.50. It is about 3 km outside Funchal but good bus service and pleasant walk to town (You can walk the first part of the journey by the sea). Airport bus drops you just across the road.

Actually, it's a really good deal, as far as location and spaciousness is concerned. Besides, the shuttle to Funchal service is a nice extra. And the swimming pool is a real treat after a walking day along the levadas. Our only complaints are about the staff services: receptionists are anything but useful or kind, and the room maid is likely to skip doing the room on time, or ever. We did find cocroaches on our arrival, although they didn't show up afterwards.

It was our first time in Duas Torres, but we have been often in Madeira before. We have only booked the appartement without meals. Near by the hotel there are many shops and supermarkets to buy conveniance products (Forum Madeira). The room service and cleanliness was quite good, but the pool area was rather poor. The seawiew is excellent!

I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel. I got a huge, sunny appartment with a nice view to the seaside, the islands the desertas and a huge balcony. A shopping destrict is just accross the street and the restaurant of the hotel 'O classico'is exellent and with a nice terrace to the sea. The people at the hotel reception and restaurant are very nice and helpful. In summary, I enjoyed my stay very much.

Excellent restaurant in hotel for evening meals. Little variation in breakfast offerings. Several times the courtesy van to central Funchal departed full with several guests unable to obtain seating. Not exactly courteous. No bottle cap opener or corkscrew provided in room. Shower was broken on arrival but repaired quickly upon notification to desk. Warning to others: The hotel staff, when questioned were not aware that the airport bus schedule had the same times set for all stops along a three mile route. I.e., all stops were posted for 10AM in our instance. Arrived twenty minutes late at stop nearest Duas Torres and forty minutes late at the last stop from schedule posted. Strangely enough, the bus arrived on time at the airport. The airport bus fare was 4 Euro p/p. Taxi was 30 Euro. Overall, however, this was a good 8 day stay for us.

The only comment I have, is that when one asks for a double bed, one gets two twin beds in the middle of the room without a head rest. Otherwise, Duas Torres is a great place to stay in.

The 7 seater courtesy bus to & from central Funchal is available Monday to Friday 10am to 5:30pm. Outside these times, a 3km walk to town, a local bus or a taxi are the options. One morning, the hotel's lawnmower woke us at 8am. Our room was big and had a blacony with ocean view, a kitchen & a bathroom. Very good value for money. We would stay again!
