My wife and I stayed at Hotel Baia Taormina during Oct 10-12 2002. There were both positive points as well as a few negative points about the hotel: Positive points: - Nice luxurious hotel and beautiful location overlooking the ocean. - Beautiful ocean view from rooms and restaurant. - Very nice and scenic pool area (nice flower gardens, beautiful view overlooking the ocean). - Excellent buffet breakfast include with room. - From the hotel you can drive to downtown Taormina in about 8-10 minutes Negative Points: - Air conditioning did not really seem to work so we had to sleep with patio door open. We complained about it but nothing was done. It was the same in entire hotel, not just our room. - Competence of staff and services offered (e.g., welcome) is not up to 4* standard. More like 2-3* at best. - Parking is sometimes quite inconvenient as you need to park on a steep hill and the parking is often very crowded (weddings seem to be frequently hosted there). - Although there is supposed to be a 'private beach' you actually have to go through an 'obstacle course' to get to it (you need to go down several flights of stairs and pass through 2 dark narrow tunnels which go under the road and railway). The route to the beach is filled with thick grass and trees which is not really being trimmed. - When you get to the beach, you find that there is no sand and only a cement platform on which you can sit. You can't really swim there unless you are extremely adventurous and want to dive in an area where there are no rocks. - There were frequent power 'glitches' which lasted from a few seconds to about 1 minute. In summary: - Don't go there if you are expecting to swim at the beach. Go to a hotel in Giardini Naxos if that is what you're looking for. - Go there if you are looking for a nice, scenic area to relax around the pool area at a reasonable price. You're also very well located for day trips to Toarmina, Etna, and Catania.

From Catania take the highway A18 and exit at Taormina on SS114. Follow this road for about 7 km/4.3 miles and you will find the Baia Taormina hotel.

From Messina take the highway A18 and exit at Roccalumera on SS114. Follow this road for about 8 km/5 miles and you will find the Baia Taormina hotel.

From Palermo take the highway A19 and exit at Taormina on SS114. Follow this road for about 7 km/4.3 miles and you will find the Baia Taormina hotel.

From Siracusa take the SS124, then E45 and take the highway A18. Take the exit Taormina on SS114 and follow this road for about 7 km/4.3 miles and you will find the Baia Taormina hotel.
