Highly recommend the hospitality of the Corella's. It's a family run hotel/resort with Mama Tina cooking family style dinners; Papa Corella concocting his signature lemoncello; and the two sons, Giuseppe and Lorenzo as the hosts with the mostess. our accommodation was more akin to a villa than a hotel, with a panoramic view of the Bay of Naples-- just spectacular. All rooms open out to the balcony which is sub-divided for privacy. both giuseppe and lorenzo would not hesitate to give you a ride into the town center, Florio. both sons speak reasonable english and both have been to the States (Giuseppe's been to seattle, so we felt an instant connection, being from there!). I would have rated it a perfect 1-0 but for the logistics of getting to the main bus line (it's quite a hike if you walk). however, they have recently opened up apartment rentals right in the town center. have not been there but should think it's easier to get around the island. giusieppe is full of good tips on what to explore on the island, so take heed. you can really tell the difference in hospitality when it is family run versus corporate. we really enjoyed their southern hospitality and would highly recommend it to any one heading to Ischia. we personally would stay at the Corella's again. ps: plan to stay at least 3-4 nights to get a chance to explore the lovely island some more. i would recommend Ischia over Capri if you're more into nature than shopping! thank you Corella's for making our trip to southern italy so memorable!!!

I booked only one night at Poggio del Sole and ended uo staying 7 nights. This is a family run business so it is like staying with friends. The atmosphere and reception are friendly and personal and the family go out of their way to make you feel at home. The hotel is located with the restauarant and dinner became a highlight thanks to the amazing cooking of Mama Tina (she will also share some Italian cooking tips with you if you ask). If you are after an anonymous holiday without atmosphere don't come here. The hotel is located approx 15 mins from the town centre but the family will always drop you in town and there is a bus to come back...But actually after all the delicious food, the walk is good...

This place is a good 20 minutes on foot downhill to Forio, and a bit longer up the BIG hill. The rooms were adequate, the terraces large but separated only with short plants from the next room's, and the staff was friendly. These guys also run a hostel in Forio (Ring Hostel), so their service is a bit disorganized as such, but the restaurant is a very good deal if you don't mind waiting a little bit. The food is excellent, and the complimentary breakfast was the best we had of three hotels in Italy, though still not quite hearty enough by American or Austrian standards. The tiny pool is refreshing and great to sit by. One last note: I don't think you'll find a more stunning view of the sunset than from on the terrace. I have never seen anything like it.

This is an absolute gem! Situated amongst a beautiful landscape on Ischia, Poggio del Sole offers it all. It is operated by a family - the mother is an excellent cook, and the two sons do the rest. Perfect and if I ever have family members that vacation here I will definitely recommend Poggio del Sole.

HOW TO REACH THE HOTEL

By ferry
The island of Ischia is connected to the mainland by ferry and hydrofoil services which depart from Naples' harbours, Molo Beverello (Linee Lauro and Caremar ferries) and Mergellina (Lauro and Snav hydrofoil services), as well as from Pozzuoli (Traghetti Pozzuoli and Caremar ferries).
Ferry boats only service Ischia Porto and Casamicciola harbours, while hydrofoils also reach Forio d'Ischia. The journey takes approximately 45 minutes by hydrofoil and 70 minutes by ferry boat. The hotel can then be easily reached either by public bus, taxi or microtaxi service.
