This hotel was wonderful! We were a group of five women. The hotel provided two rooms, one with two singles and one with three - just as we had requested. The bathrooms are new and well appointed. The location is perfect - in the middle of the block that connects the Duomo with the Palazzo Vecchio. The friendly front desk staff was very helpful with directions, dinner reservations, and taxis. The included breakfast provided a wide selection of meats, cheeses, fruits, juices, rolls, toast, yogurt, as well as bacon and eggs. I would definitely stay there again and recommend it to friends.

Great location for seeing the sites and exploring. The hotel is great and the central location means the rooms are noisy if the windows are open but what do you expect! Would definitely go back and would recommend to anyone.

Ny friend and I stayed in your hotel while on a quick trip to Florence. We commented many times in our three days how lucky we were to find Hotel Calzaiuoli. Everything about the room was high quality including sheets and comforter, pillows, bathroom with great bathtub to sooth aching feet at the end of the day. I will definitely stay there again.

Florence was great. You can walk to everything. Please get resevations to Uffizi ahead of time or you will wait at least 2 hours in the ticket line before you go to the entrance line, another small wait.Hotel was clean, quiet, very convient, room very small, bathroom very small. Loved the location not the room. Breakfast was excellent. so if you can get by with a small room give it a try. The staff has to learn how to smile.

The hotel was clean and the room was spacious. The reception was businesslike but not overly friendly and helpful. I would stay here again. It is in a fantastic central area to all the attractions. We had a room in the back which was quiet even with the window open. I have a feeling the rooms facing the street might be a bit noisy as that street is very busy. The price was good, I only rated it a bit lower because of the weakness of the US dollar but that is not the hotel's fault.

Hotel Calzaiuoli is in an excellent location for walking to all the great attractions. The front desk staff, especially Michele, were great in recommending restaurants and made our reservations for us. The breakfasts were plentiful, offering a good selection of food. We never needed lunch, just a gelato break.Speaking of gelato, right around the corner is a fabulous gelato shop. Our room, at the top of the stairs on the 3rd floor, overlooked the Duomo. The bed was extremely comfortable. We normally stay at Four Seasons when we vacation, and I really enjoyed spending all that extra money on gifts rather than the room. We will most definitely recommend this hotel for your Florence stay.

The location was amazing - could not have been better and the rooms were lovely too, with a great view out onto the square. Given the location you would think it may have been noisey but it was very quiet.

PROS:
- Location: Right in via Calzaiuoli in the exact mid point between Piazza della Signora and the Duomo.
- Accomodations: Great rooms, pleasant breakfast hall and food, spotless clean, the works.. No noise at all in rooms although they had huge windos facing one of the bussiest walking streets in Florence.
CONS:
- Parking fee: 30euros per day.
- Some staff members could be freindlier.. no biggie.
- A bit expensive but worth every euro for the hotel quality and the location.
If you travel by car you can drive all the way to the hotel's front door in Via Calzaiuoli. This street is pedestrian, but there is not a problem in driving it (really slowly). The best way to get there is by Via Porta Rossa comming from Piazza di San Firenze. Look for directions in Google maps. A good advise may be to locate the hotel and look for a near by public parking lot which you think is safe. Research your parking if you think 30E per day is too much.
Would happily stay here again if I had a similar budget. Although I would look for cheaper alternatives in the same location to see if I get lucky.

The hotel was wonderful! The location was very central, the room was the most spacious we had in Italy and the staff were helpful and accomodating. It is a hotel, not a B&B/Inn, so don't expect the staff to "chat", but they were more than happy to asisst us in any way we needed. I would definitely stay here again!

Perfect location in central Florence, two blocks from Duomo. Good room size. Teenage boys enjoyed ability to get sports scores through hotel laptop and internet access. Would stay here again. Best gelato at neon-lit store around corner and at Grom, two blocks away. Wonderful full course steak dinner at Il Latini a few blocks away.

Hotel is very centrally located and perfect for getting around. The room was nice and spacious, as was the bathroom. The breakfast was decent. We'd definitely stay here again, and recommend this hotel. We stayed 3 nights. Only negative point was the reception staff - they could afford to be more friendly and actually thank customers for staying with them. We had credit card and receipt just placed on the counter, not a word said... and this was in the middle of summer, so rates weren't exactly cheap!

Right on the main shopping street which is pedestrianised. Centrally located within walking distance of all the major sights and attractions, could not be better really, an ideal location. Room was large and spacious by Italian standards. Avoid the breakfast if at all possible and head out to any of the local cafes.

Only a 3* because of small rooms and lack of a real lobby area, otherwise it would be a good 4*. Location is pretty much the best in Florence, 5 mins walk to anywhere! Noisy city location, but double glasing and a/c made this a minor point. Highly recommended.

I did a trip Milan - Pisa - Lucca - Florence - San Gimigniano - Venice - Como. This hotel was probably the best of all... can't be better situated, confortable, clean spacious, not cheap but worthwile to spend each Euro, is just in the midle of all the key spots of Florence!

The best hotel we have stayed in for location. Walk straight out to pedestian only streets with easy level walking in any direction to many of the famous piazzas, museums, galleries, shops and restaurants. Room 210 was as described and more because it's double aspect, from one of our windows we could see directly down to Piazza Republica. Although the room was a smoking room (and we don't smoke) the room didn't smell. However, if you find this a no no then there were plenty of non smoking rooms to request. Bathroom was small and compact, but who stays in the bathroom longer than needed!
Breakfast was very good, but it paid to get there before 9am when everyone seemed to appear, on one morning a couple of guests walked away as there were no vacant tables left. Hotel staff were both curteous and helpful and maps of the city are free. Would definitely stay again.

A thoroughly pleasant experience. The location could not have been more perfect, with only a few short blocks to both the Duomo and the Uffiz. Many good restaurants nearby, and the desk staff supplied several good suggestions. The breakfast provided was unexpectedly large, with eggs, cereal and assortments of meats and pastries available every morning. The room was not large, but it was adequate and the bed was comfortable. The street noise might be a problem in the warm weather, but we simply closed the windows and shutters, and it was fine. We would certainly stay there again, and we can recommmend it without reservation. This hotels clearly takes service very seriously.

Very nice hotel, sweet room, very well located in tourism center. then, you don't need your car.
Breakfeast is correct, you can take it in your room.
The only bad point is the parking for car, because no offer in hotel, and I paid 60 Euros for 2 days for a private parking recommended by the hotel!!!

Everything was excellent at H. Calzaiuoli.
A few remarks only: 1)parking is extra 30 EURO per day. 2)The internet access in room is via wireless, but the staff is not very aware of how this works: i think you have to buy a card which would give you the access to the hotel's page...nobody knew exactly what to do, so they gave me 30 min access on hotel's computer...which luckily for me was enough...

This was the first time that my husband and I stayed at Hotel Calzaiuoli. The room was very clean although not very spacious. The personnel was very polite and at our disposal any time we needed it.The room service and the brekfast was also very good.
The location of the hotel is very central, in the heart of the city, therefore, you could get ouside any time of the day you wanted.
We certainly recommend this hotel to our friends and other people in case they plan to visit Florence and we have already done so.

Hotel Calzaiuoli provided excellent service, well situated in one of the main streets of Florence(no traffic).Near to all Galleries, shops & Historic places. Hotel room was nicely decor'ed, elegant.Very spacious, quiet, very clean. We had an awful experience (wallet taken by Train Station).Reception staff were very understanding,so helpful with credit card phone numbers etc.We were very appreciative of their support. Breakfast was excellent, great variety - cereals, fruit, bacon & eggs. We would definately stay there again & would advise family & friends to stay and enjoy their hospitality. We loved Florence and our accommodation at Hotel Calzaiuoli put the icing on the cake.

The hotel is dificult to find if you are driving in to Florence get directions before attempting and follow them. Better yet, park outside of town and take a taxi parking is expensive. This hotel is located on the main pedestrian walkway between the Duomo and Uffizi. Location. Location. Location. And the rooms are very nice

Overall our stay was outstanding. It's location is very convient to just about everything. I would recommend asking for a room on the back side of the hotel other wise you may have the late night street traffic. We traveled to many locations in Italy and found this to be one of the more spacious rooms. We recommend this hotel.

First visit to Florence and hotel was ideally situated in the centre of the old town, very close to all that one needs to see. We had no language difficulties with staff speaking and understanding English without any apparent problem. Also staff very helpful but would not allow me to pay my bill at 21.00 hours on the night before an early departure! Also the superbly excellent buffet breakfast was available between 07.00 and 10.00 but there were no facilities for getting anything to eat or drink much before 07.00 hours on the day of departure. However this was a very minor detail in what was an otherwise excellent stay. Staff recommendations for somewhere to have an evening meal were absolutely spot on and are to be recommended. We were warned about the possibilities of there being mosquitoes about but these warnings were unfounded.
I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to friends and when we return we will stay there again and book it through Venere where significant savings were made.

My wife and I stayed for a week in mid October, 2006 and had a wonderful time.We were last in Florence 26 ago and this was a sort of 30th anniversary trip. The room was quite, we had a view of the duomo, and the breakfasts each morning were wonderful. The location was excellent. We were five minutes from everything. The staff was helpful, though busy, language was never a problem. We selected Hotel Calzaiuoli through the internet and were relieved that it was as good and better than what the virtual descrptions presented. We would return without a doubt.

We spent two days in Florence for our anniversary and this hotel was a fantastic change from our experience in Rome (at a less expensive hotel) the previous two nights. Although our room (double superior) did not have a bathtub as shown in the pictures, it did have a moderately spacious(for Europe), all marble bathroom. Our room also had an extra sitting room with a small TV in addition to the spacious bedroom. The breakfast is the best that I have seen in all of Europe - there are several items available, including bacon and eggs! The hotel is just a short distance from the train station and then very conveniently located to all the major attractions. We would definitely stay in the hotel again.

This hotel is fantastic! We arrived in Florence on an overcast but mild Monday after a EuroStar train (not to be confused with the Anglo-Franco Chunnel) had catapulted us from Rome’s Termini through the Tuscan countryside at a very fast but snooze enabling pace. The Calzaiuoli is only a 10 minute walk (and suitcase roll) from the train station. Simply aim for the Cathedral or Uffizi and you're pretty much there. This is because the hotel is situated beautifully on the wide and tourist friendly pedestrianised street that links these 2 wonders. The welcome received from the hotel staff felt slightly aloof and I felt a little out of place in my jeans and trainers but the concierge managed to crack a smile just wide enough on hearing my Italiano to pass as human.
The porter kindly carried our bags in the lift to the room on the 3rd floor and the room was certainly clean and spacious enough, especially compared to hotels where I have stayed in Milan and Rome. The room was at the back of the hotel and our 3 large windows (I do love a window in a room!) gave view to the Cathedral dome, Uffizi square tower and east and north across the terracotta-tiled roofs of Florence towards Michelangelo’s hill, which, incidentally, is well worth the walk for the view back over the Ponte Vecchio. We also had a little room annexed to the main with it’s own TV and sofa bed which gave the room an almost suite feel.
The breakfast was superb with a wide variety of food and drink and I would recommend taking the stairs at least once to appreciate the full grandeur of the hotels’ spine. Only downside? Having to apologise to my girlfriend since it was an American and not Italian accent that she could hear all holiday. In conclusion this hotel is basically all you could need and want for a central hub to visit all Florence has to offer (even if Calzaiuoli's impossible pronunciation means you'll never be able to tell your friends exactly where you stayed!)

Our early October, 2006 stay at the Calzaiuoli was an excellent experience. The central location of the hotel allowed easy walking distance to all of Florence. The room and bathroom were large, clean and quiet. The breakfast was expansive and tasty. The staff was helpful -- especially in making advanced reservations for all of the museums (which, because of the crowds, are impossible to visit without reservations).
My wife and I recommend this hotel for all vacationers to Florence.

Hotel Calzaiuoli was the best hotel of our trip to Florence/Venice/Rome. The location is ideally situated between the Duomo & Uffizi sites. The staff was excellent and spoke good english. Dry cleaning was returned on the same day. The hotel made excellent dinner recommendations. For pasta/pizza try Yellow Bar. Best breakfast by far...........

The problem we had was that that rooms had lots of dust. I guess it has never been vacuumed. My wife and I are allergic to dust so we had an allergic holidays, sneezing, running nozes, coffing, eyes irritation. The bathroom wasn't really good, the water temperature kept going from hot to cold, then we would increase the heat and get burnt... But it was quiet and located 1 block from the Duomo, right in the center of the city. Watch out, parking the car will cost you 30 euros per day.
