The hotel is near the train station and if you are traveling light is is manageable to get to the train station with your luggage in tow (but if you have too much luggage you will need a taxi who will charge you too much money for the short trip (14 Euro). This is the taxi service that the hotel called for us. The hotel rooms are nice. What we were really impressed with were the double pane double windows. Yes there were two sets of windows and this keeps the street noise out of your room. We were walking distance to many Florence attractions but had limited eating options right around the corner from the hotel. It was a nice hotel and they had the best breakfast options of all the hotels we stayed at in Italy. Weekdays the breakfast was better than weekends as the week guy did not appear to know what he was doing. We would consider staying at this hotel on our next visit.

I was very disappointed in the desk staff personnel. On the occassions that I interacted with them, they appeared more interested in completing their "work" at the computer than assisting me. Of the four accomodations we utilized on this trip, I would rate the desk staff lowest in charm or warmth. Too bad. By not making customers feel good about their choice of accomodations, eventually this staff may not have to worry about their "work".

Easy access to the train station along with good walking into around Florence. We had first stayed with our tour group and had confirmed our reservation the week before. However when we showed back up a week later they indicated they didn't have any rooms. It all worked out but it sure didn't feel like they wanted our business.

Close to train station and many major tourist landmarks in Florence. Bus services close to the hotel allows easy travel to all areas in and around the hotel.
Suggested improvements would be quicker in responding to guest requests and installing some lighting on the oustside of the hotel at night.

Hotel Malaspina is a nice hotel. Staying there for some days it is excellent.we had a "triple-room" and the spacioness of the room was o.k. -the breakfast was also really o.k., good (and enough ! ) coffee, milk, tea, juices, ham and cheese, marmelade, eggs and corn-flakes. The only thing, that matters: Early in the morning you can hear the traffic-noises of many motor-cycles ( you have to close the window ). Sorry, but the air-condition was really very loud. The relationship between price and quality is very good.

Thankfully we only had booked this hotel for one night -- had we planned to stay longer it would have been a huge nightmare. The experience began with rude front desk staff that seemed annoyed that our Italian was not perfect. When we got to the room we found used towels in the bathroom and waited almost two hours before fresh ones arrived. The bathroom must have not been cleaned as the sink basin had shaving residue and the toilet seat was up when we arrived in the room. There was considerable street noise throughout the night that added to the bad experience. Top it off with a cold shower in the morning and we were more than ready to move on in our travels!

For 70EUR this hotel was a steal of a deal. I stayed in other hotels in Rome and Venice for 70EUR, and they were not as good as Malaspina. The hotel was approximately 10minutes walk from the train station. I would definitely recommend this hotel to others.

Ottimo hotel!

Malaspina Hostel is really located in a good area to visit Florence. Very Quiet, easy to find and not so far from the center, I would really recommend this Hotel. For me that's a very good balance between price and QA.

Would we stay here again? Absolutely Yes! Right on the Piazza del Independenze. Hotel staff recommended an awesome restaurant called Taverna Del Bronzino. Central to walk to all the sights (Duomo, Ponte Vecchio, Uffizi, etc.) Venere is so easy, as we booked this hotel from an internet cafe in Siena. YOU MUST VISIT SIENA TO MAKE YOUR TUSCAN HOLIDAY COMPLETE.

We liked this hotel and would stay again. The staff was wonderful and very responsive. Bathroom in room 103 was clean and modern, but rather small with strange corner mirror/sink. Very comfortable bed. We found a great restaurant two blocks away, Il Grillo Parlante. Staff recommended Il Messere which is next to it, but we found that to be so-so.

In quiet area of Florence in one of the fer parks, one way system made it a bit tricky to access. Parking expensive at 20 Euros a day but secure and individual. Close enough to access all areas by foot easily. Hotel receptionist (male)a bit unwelcoming but other staff fine. Breakfast was good, friendly waiter room for three was very spacious, unfortunately third bed was a put-up, not very substantial, but value for money. Room was very clean and comfortable. Would recommend this hotel and would stay there if ever in Florence.

Nice hotel within walking distance (just) of the station. Rooms well appointed with good quality furniture/fittings. WC/shower area very cramped. Noise easily transmitted between rooms via tiled floors but otherwise quiet. Breakfast OK. Overall very acceptable and would stay there again.

This hotel was the best we stayed at in our two weeks in Italy. It's location was in close walking distance to Florenec's major sites. It's proximity to the train and bus terminals made visitng surrounding villages easy. The room was the largest we experienced in the five hotels we stayed at. The mini-fridge allowed us to purchase drinks and fruit and kee them clod. The bathroom had both a combines tub and shower and a built in cord to facilitate ashing cloths. The AC was great which we greatly appreciated after sightseeing for ten hours in 104 degree heat. The breakfast, which was included, was the best of all the hotels which we stayed at. The staff was friendly and informative.

The Malaspina was everything we expected from reading Venere comments - staff could do with a course in customer relations, but other than that, the hotel was excellent. Good location, not too far away from San Lorenzo Market and the main railway station. We complained about broken bathroom light which was not fixed. My friend bought two drinks at the hotel "bar" which cost 16 Euros and we were ushered out of the area by the unwelcoming male receptionist (Concierge is too flattering a word to apply). My husband asked for another key to admit himself to our room, but was reluctantly given the least assistance by the same member of staff. Breakfast was better than other hotels of that standard. I'd recommend the Malaspina because it was well located and exceptionally clean, but customers may wish to spend their money somewhere more cheerful.

This is a great hotel! The location on the Piazza was excellent for walking to everything you needed. There is plenty of parking in the Piazza, although you have to move your car by midnight. The staff were friendly and helpful, very traditional.

We had a little bit of trouble locating the hotel due to there not being a "street" in the given address. Once that was accomplished, we were very pleased. Although the park seemed a little deserted, the location proved to be easy walking distance to everything. In spite of its location the rooms were surprisingly quiet. The hotel staff was very nice and helpful upon arrival. The breakfast room was a little dingey, but everything else was great especially for the price.

Really enjoyed it. Firenze can be noisy so having modern sound-proof windows is nice. Lots of hot water. Good buffet breakfast but remains the same every day. Air conditioning ensured comfort. Would highly recommend.

The Malaspina is a great find, and provides excellent service, facilities and a good breakfast. The use of quadruple glazing means it is almost soundproof, even though situated on one of Firenze's main streets. It is only 10 minutes walk from the city centre and all the sights, but is in a tranquil piazza.

The jotel was in fantastic location and the staff were very helpful and friendly.
Unfortubnately there was some work goin on in the hotel at the time which meant there were periods of building noise and the electricity went off about three times. However the quality of the room, breakfast, its location to all the major sights and the friendliness of the staff for the price of 70 Euros a night made these minor problems insignificant to the enjoyment of our stay. I would recommend it to everyone

This is an excellent little hotel for the price; the rooms were very clean, spacious, seemed newly refurbished and well-appointed. The location on the square was good in the rather claustriphobic Florence--and truly just a 10 min walk to the Duomo & center of town. We were waiting for lost luggage that came to the hotel after we moved on to Rome, and Hotel Malaspina followed our request to have it forwarded on to us. Great service, excellent breakfast, lovely hotel.

Overall a very positive experience. A value for money choice campared with other hotels in Italy. Excellent quiet location for Florence while is very centrally located as well. (near the train station) The decor is really nice, immaculately clean, classy and homy. Breakfast provided a good selection. The only bad part was the room smelled like cigarette and stinked all the clothes hung in the closet.

A wonderful surprise in Florence! The hotel is centrally located (near the railway station), and we were placed in a spacious room looking over a charming piazza. The bathroom was lavishly decorated, and the staff was very helpful. Breakfast was also fair for the budget price. A sure bet in Florence.

This is a lovely hotel and well priced. the breakfast was lovely, the room clean and quiet and it had a nice lounge bar area. This hotel is ten minutes walk from the train station, 10 minutes from the academia with michellangello's david, but is good 20 minute walk from the uffizi so it is a little bit out of the action in florence. But if you do not mind a walk it is good value for money

One of the best places we stayed. A great location and a terrific breakfast included with the price. Ten to 15 minutes to the major sites by foot. The hosts were all knowledgeable and helpful. I would recommend this hotel to all my friends. For the price one of the best deals we had.
