This hotel was recommanded to us by friends, and we were not disappointed: the room was spacious, quiet, clean, and cheap; the management was very helpful (good advice on restaurants). Would definitely stay there again.

Staff were very frindly and helpful. Room was a little dated but had everything you could wood. Breakfast, again, simple but good. Location was a very quiet street near the station about a 10 minute walk from the action with a few decent bars closer by.

Highly recommended for its character and welcome. Not too far from station, and since Florence is such a compact city, not far from the major attractions either. Also, situated in a more residential area, so perfect for getting to sleep etc.

We loved our stay at Delle Camelie, mainly due to its owner signor antonio - a very warm-earted and welcoming gentleman, who helped us at every occasion. The hotel has everything a 2-star "soggiorno" could offer. the only drawback was that there were no food stores in the vicinity (the closest within 15 min. walk from it). However, there was a fine bakery right opposite with a nice pizza and calzone, and the railway station just a few blocks from the property.

Excellent! Really nice staff, only 10-15 mins to center and everything was so easy to reach. I would say that you should probably get a taxi to the hotel from the station if you arrive at night as it's too dark to follow instructions properly when you're tired as i was - taxis are great and not a rip off as they are on a meter. Try to ask where to go in Italian as the taxi drivers are one of the few lovely people who didn't speak English. Great value for money. We had a massive room and breakfast was nice, even took it to my room when i had a lazy morning. Clean towels and bedding. Couldn't ask for more for the price. Would highly recommend. (Get the number 7 to Fiesole, it's a wonderful small village in the mountains with a great view).

Hotel is a short walk from the train station and about 15-20 minutes walk from the center. Very friendly staff. I had a single room with shared bathroom, which was right next to my room and always very clean. Considering the price of accommodation in Florence, Hotel Delle Camelie is good value. I spent four nights there and was quite comfortable.

Delle Camellie is a hotel that has very good location. Walking distance to the major sites. Car parking available in the street outside the hotel, not much traffic. When walking to major sites, careful with some areas. Walk fast, hide your camera and everything is fine. For that price, I would look somewhere else.

My mother and I took a trip through Italy and stayed here during our stay in Florence. The walk from the train station is a little intimidating, but once we got to the hotel, we felt very safe. It seems a little bit of a distance from the major sites, such as the Uffizi and Ponte Vecchia, however it was about 4 blocks from the Academia. The neighborhood was very quiet, but hardly any restaurants near our hotel. The kind older gentleman that ran the hotel was extremely helpful and friendly and kind. I felt safe having him watch the door. I didn't feel very safe in the evenings, so we stayed in. The place was very clean and comfortable and the breakfast is typical for Italy. We would definetely stay here again if we came back.

The hotel staff were friendly and the room ok but the fact that the room did not have a bathroom was definitely a minus. The surrounding area was quiet but I would not recommend single travelers to come back to the hotel late in the evening as it did not feel safe. The train station is close by, only a ten minute walk away. The breakfast served consisted of a piece of white bread with jam and coffee or tea.

We had a room with a window facing the courtyard, and it was extremely quiet. We were very impressed by the kindness and the warm welcome we received by the staff. Breakfast is served in a lovely little room off the entrance. It was a very simple, European breakfast of rolls, jam and hot beverage. It is just a 10 or 15 minute walk to the Duomo and other sites from this hotel. We enjoyed a restaurant right around the corner, and there is also a great gelateria in the neighborhood. It was also close to the train station, so we walked there. We would stay at the Hotel Delle Camelie again if we returned to Florence.

Antonio Mainolfi (the owner) is an excellent host and speaks very good english. The room my mom and I got was quiet and very very spacious specially whe you think of what we paid! The bathroom was very nice and clean, rather newly redecorated och the beds were grate! This was the best trip ever and if you´re looking for a nice, small, family run hotel , this is it. A short stroll to the city center ( 10 min) and the nicest little Tabacc and deli around the corner. Since hotel prices in high season is quite high we certanly got more than we paid for. We recommend this to anyone who rather spend money on shopping, nice wines and sightseeing rather than a more luxurious hotel.

We (family with two children, 13 and 11) stayed in Feb/March for 3 nights. After coming from a bright cheerful hotel in Sorrento, the Delle Camelie seemed rather gloomy in its decor and layout, but the rooms were spacious enough, with comfortable beds, OK showers and very good value. Welcome was professional and the young men on night duty were happy to provide drinks, etc. Breakfast was the usual. Location is OK, ten minutes walk from the station and 15 minutes stroll into central Florence. I'd probably spend a little more money next time and get somewhere brighter and closer to the centre, but for 60e per room per night, the DC was just right.

The directions are perfect. Easy to find. An easy 10 minute walk from the train station. The area is safe to walk at night alone. Very nice staff, immediately you feel welcome, at home and safe. Located on a side street (low to no traffic noise) with a beautiful courtyard. My room was spacious and clean. Included a U.S. style electric plug for my electric shaver. Breakfast was very good, the coffee was very good and plentiful. The owner speaks excellent English and is very helpful and pleasant to talk with. Overall I would highly reccommend this hotel. I will go back the next time I am in Florence.

This hotel is a great bargain considering what you get for the price. The staff is very friendly and the location is a short walk from the train station. I paid 35 EUROS for a single room in low season (Dec 07. My only advise is to mind the fact that there is no elevator in the hotel so travel light.

The staff was more than helpful with all questions presented. The rooms were very big and easily accomidating for my girlfriend and I. They even had a 110 outlet for american appliances. For 90 euro a night, the room with the service, as well as the location to all the main attractions, was more than worth the price that was paid. A big appreciation goes to the staff who will definately have my business again the next time I am in Florence.

The location is good, a convenient walk to the Duomo area. The staff was helpful. Rooms were a bit noisy due to the tile floors, but otherwise comfortable and as expected. There is no lift, so be advised hefting heavy bags can be a bit of a challenge. The shower is also small, but it does the job. A no-frills hotel that provides a nice night's sleep at a decent price.

We stayed 2 nights, arriving and departing by train. The hotel is only a 10-minute walk away, but a taxi might be necessary from the station unless you travel very light, and have a detailed map of the many small streets in the area. Overall experience was great: quiet, good continental breakfast, friendly and helpful receptionist, good restaurants next to a nearby park. Duomo is 20-minute walk away, Uffizi Museum and Vecchio Bridge 30-35 minutes. Strongly recommended.

Would recommend this hotel for value for money, comfortable room and hospitality/helpfulness of owner and staff. Delle Camelie is within easy walking distance from station, bus station and coach terminal. Directions easy to follow. Located in quiet street - opposite delicatesan, and near to cafe and a few other shops. (Small supermarket not far either.) Stayed in single room which had comfortable 3/4 size bed.Furniture not new but adequate.Tiled floor. Very quiet on ground floor. Room was described as without bath but in fact I had sole use of the shower room next door. No air fresheners or other chemical smells to cause problems to anyone like myself with sensitivities. Close to centre of Florence - near piazza del Independenza. Found it an ideal location for visiting all sights in and around Florence by foot or City tour bus (from bus station). Patron spoke English and seemingly several other languages as well. Desk apparently manned at all times and owner happy to book taxi, tickets for art gallery etc. Continental breakfast of assorted bread, croissant, packet toast, butter, jams, honey, tea, coffee etc. Small bar for hot and cold drinks etc in reception room. I look forward to staying in Florence and at this hotel again. (Rated website photos and types and room numbers as 6 because can't remember/don't know).

This is a very good hotel. The price is reasonable, and the room is very comfortable. The most impressive is the friendly attitude of the staffs. You feel they take you as a real invited person, instead of a simply customer. You will have the feeling to be repected and to be trusted. Some people might think its location a problem, because it is not really in the very center of the tourist area (though it takes only 6-7 minutes to walk to the train station). But because of that, this hotel can get rid of the noises on the crowded streets. There's also a small park in the corner of the hotel. You can enjoy a pleasant evening there even if you have only a sandwich and a bottle of water.

This is a great find for a hotel in Florence. The room is large and clean. Breakfast is simple but good. The owner is so welcoming and helpful! He recommended a resturtant and it became our favorite! Very nice, small hotel located north of the main part of the city - around a 15 min walk to the Duomo. Close to street markets and internet/laundry facilities down the road. 5 minute walk from Main train station. Easy to find. Room was quite large, clean and had everything needed. This is a lovely, small and very easily accessed hotel run by a very nice family who make you feel very welcome. It's location in relation to the train station makes it very appealing and it is also within easy reach of all tourist attractions. If you're lucky enough to have the time on your trip be sure to pay a visit to other local places such as Fiesole, Pisa and Lucca. We stayed in a double room at Delle Camelie for two nights. The room was quite good with a (working) AC and all that. Only problem we faced there, which is also very common in many hotels in Italy, is that there is no lift. One has to carry one's luggage up by stairs. I should also note here that the person at the reception offered to help us in carrying our luggage. The hotel is situated very conveniently in the city as one can walk from there to many interesting places nearby. I would recommend this hotel to everyone going to Florence.

I was over the moon with the hotel, it was really quaint, cool and quiet. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The location for us was spot on, near enough to walk to everything, but not on the main road. We were right next to a pretty little park that the locals used regularly and there was even a little bar in it for a cold bottle of beer. The breakfast was basic - but as expected and enough for us.I would go back again in a flash and am already looking for a flight, what a fantastic place.

The Hotel Delle Camelie is situated about 10 minutes walk from the Santa Maria Novelle Railway Station and Bus station. From these stations it is easy to organise trips to Lucca, Pisa, Sienna etc. and trains run, via Pisa Centrale to Pisa Airport. Note the SITA bus station is situated at the opposite end from the main entrance to the S.M. N. railway station behind the shops and offices. Nearly all of the Florence sites (Duomo, Vechio Bridge etc) are within walking distance. For example the Duomo is about 20 minutes away through the fascinating narrow Florence streets. The hotel is situated on a quiet street, the Via di Barbano, and consists of some 10 rooms. Breakfast is a typical continental breakfast consisting of orange juice, tea/coffee, croissants and rolls with plenty of jams and butter. There is a small bar. The staff is friendly and understand and speak English. The Manager Mainolfi Antonio is a friendly and approachable and helpful chap. Rooms are clean and comfortable and have individual air conditioning units controlled within the room. The furniture is functional. Hair dryers are not provided in the room and so it is advisable to take a travelling hair dryer (with appropriate plug adaptor!). The room rate paid was 100 Euros per night. An ideal hotel for visitors wanting to explore all day and just have somewhere quiet and comfortable to sleep before the next days exploring adventures.

This is a charming little hotel run by a friendly proprietor. We had a clean, high-ceilinged room that looked out over a reasonably quiet residential street (a few Vespas and a couple of ambulances went by early one morning, but for Florence that's not bad). Ten minute walk to the major attractions and the train station. This was our first stay and we would certainly go back. Bathroom was a tight fit, but on par with other 2 star hotels we've stayed at. They served good coffee too.

We recommend this hotel to anyone who is visiting Florence and wants a clean, comfortable, affordable room in a safe, central area of the city within walking distance of the train station and all attractions. The owner/manager, Antonio Mainolfi, was extremely attentive and personable, continually asking our group members if they needed anything of him, and ready with advice when asked for it. Antonio also provided us with a great city map that was quite useful. All other staff we encountered were equally courteous and helpful. We particularly enjoyed being greeted with fresh cafe latte and orange juice at breakfast each morning. Our rooms were numbers 1 and 2, which were the only two rooms down our hall, making them quiet and private. When we visited, a new garden/dining area was being built which should be nice for future guests. We definitely recommend Hotel Delle Camelie and will stay there if we ever have the opportunity to visit Florence again.

Staff are nice and helpful in general. 4. The breakfast is tasteful and in big volume. The Bad's: 1. The only receptionist of night shift can't speak English. 2. We stayed here for a 7-night visit to the city. Arrived late at midnight without any problems. Were amazed at the tall ceilings, must have been 4 metres high giving loads of air. Bed was very comfortable (firm mattress) and wide so slept soundly. Hotel was very quiet but people arrived in the middle of the night so occasionally heard them. Middle of October and we still had to turn on the air conditioning, which was efficient. The hotel is on the ground and first floor of a typical European block so other people live above & behind. One minor little problem which my wife has all over Europe, are mosquitoes. She is convinced that if there were a hundred people in a room and a single mosquito it would be her to be bitten. We had a single mosquito and my wife had a new bite every morning. Breakfast was simple, a roll and sweetened croissant per person but the owner gave us extra rolls instead of the sweet item. In the end we brought our own cheese to avoid all the sweet jams. Tea, coffee and chocolate were available with a glass of orange juice. Wouldn't expect much more for a 2 star hotel. The service was excellent and very friendly though we were not particularly demanding. The room was kept clean every day and sheets and towels were changed 2 or 3 times a week. If you need a hair drier, ask at the desk. The hotel is located a little way away from the centre so it took us 15 minutes to walk to the Academia. The Ufizzi took twice as long but we walked everywhere. Being slightly out of the way it was much quieter, not so many of those noisy scooters. There were no restaurants in our price bracket in the vicinity but we found a fantastic square about 20 minutes walking distance from the hotel in the Piazza del Mercato Central which had 5 Trattorias. The Garibardi was our favourite with a meal costing 20-25 eur & very tasty. Our thanks to Venere for enabling us to cancel a reservation in a different hotel due to family bereavement without paying a penny.

This was a very nice hotel, it had an air conditioner which was nice and we also had a balcony which was nice but if you opened the door you could see in other peoples houses. The area wasnt that great, a lot of street kids and Gypsys. but for the price you pay it is an extreemly nice room, bar the fact that i fell through the bed when i sat down and im not a big guy! Oh and when they say "breakfast included" all you get is 2 Crousants and 2 bread rolls.

This hotel, shown as a 2 star hotel, is definitely underrated. It is a clean, quite, and very friendly establishment. The owner, Antonio, is helpful, speaks English and eager to please. The Hotel is within walking distance of major sites and the price is right, considering prices at neighboring hotels. We couldn't be more pleased with our stay at Delle Camelie. Good hotel, nice friendly staff. It was a plus for us that they spoke pretty good English and we could communicate and get information from them. The room was nice, decent sized and although the previous guest smoked, the room was clean and odor free. Bathroon was a little small, but not uncommon of most hotels we stayed in on our trip. The room opened on a courtyard and was pretty quiet. It was a little off the main track of town, but was a good hotel for my daughter and I. I would recommend it.

Very clean room, comfortable and very little noise, really friendly nice staff. Overall I think a really good value for money place to stay and very handy for the train station. Also, many of the main sights are within walking distance including the Duomo and Campanile and there are some lovely and keenly priced trattorias on the way. There's also a nice little park nearby when all the sightseeing gets too much.

Great place to stay in Florence! It may be a bit of a walk from the Duomo but that's not a bad thing if you want some peace and quiet! Hotel staff was outstanding - helpful, spoke very good English, etc. Highly recommended!

Three nights in very spacious room with shared balcony (good for sitting with bottle of wine and snacks) overlooking courtyard. Room had some quaint touches and oddities, but overall quite good. Roll-down shutters over french doors let in cool night air, but not mosquitos. Smoke from smokers in other rooms occasionally invaded room. Breakfast pretty standard, but served in very congenial fashion by friendly, helpful staff. Quiet location, but far from most tourist sites. Would stay again.

We were very happy with our stay. The staff were wonderful. The area is quiet and a little out of the way from the noise and bustle of the more touristy areas of the city, but still within easy walking distance to everything. A place we would love to return to!

Rooms are small but clean. But I feel it is over prised. You can easily get same room for better price. We asked for couple of extra crossaints. They did not provide. That was not expected.

At this price this hotel is a treasure. Our room was clean with a spacious bathroom. We were on an upper floor facing the courtyard with a balcony. Very quiet with birds singing waking us up in the morning. Breakfast was good with rolls, sweet rolls, coffee or tea. Within walking distance to all major sights and train station. Nothing to complain about. This will be my hotel in Florence whenever I return. (I am very fussy)

I stayed in room 8 (single). It was clean, marble-floored and high-ceilinged, at the back overlooking a small, quiet courtyard. Rooms at the front must be fairly quiet too, as the road has little traffic. Bathroom 'wet-room' style, with toilet/bidet/washbasin/shower. Good hot water and clean towels. Hotel is on lower two floors of apartment block, no lift. Staff courteous and pleasant (English good enough to cope with my Italian!), breakfast (croissant/roll/jams/juice/coffee) perfectly acceptable. 10 minutes walk from railway station/buses, including airport shuttle/Duomo so well-placed. Area felt safe for single woman. A small low-budget hotel, good value for money. I will be using it again.

At Delle Camelie you certainly get what you pay for. It is small and dingy hotel that is somewhat convenient for its location near the train station and also its easy access to the city center. The staff is most accommodating and hospitable. Unfortunately, the rooms are not terribly clean nor spacious nor quiet. If you're not going to spend much time in the hotel, this could be the cheap option for you.

The hotel manager should arrange for customers to have some tickets for them to park their cars close to the hotel delle camelie. It would be one more asset for the hotel .

The room was clean and fairly spacious. But it is too close to the stairs and we could hear TV noises from downstair. The staff's attitude was lukewarm and did not really help us too much. One of the night staff did not even speak English and was kind of grumpy. But overall I think it is priced fairly, close to major attractions and a good choice for buget travelers.

Just returned from Italy and want to say that our stay at Hotel Camelie was very nice. It was near the train station, which was a requirement--we walked from the train to the hotel. The manager was extremely nice and accomodating. The only negative comment I would have would be that we read another review where someone mentioned that we should ask for Room 4 because there is a balcony. The balcony looks on to some places that are more of an eyesore and it is too small to sit on anyway. I would avoid Room 4 because it is right off the stairway and people were clomping up and down the stairs at all hours. Breakfast was a lot nicer than we had anticipated--and, yes, I would definitely recommend this hotel. It was good value for the money.
