Hotel was very nice. Renovated and clean. Bathroom fine. Room was a little small. Noise from above (although we were on top floor) annoying in early morning after overseas flight. Staff very nice and personable. Modern hotel with architectural character unlike some of the modern "box" hotels in Florence.

This was a beautiful hotel with very friendly staff. The location was a very brief taxi ride from the main train station. This hotel is not located right in the city center; however, only a 15 min walk. There is a very nice park directly across from the hotel. I would stay at this hotel again in the future.

We had an excellent stay at the San Gallo Palace Hotel. The staff were courteous and helpful. The room was spacious and clean. the self service breakfast offered a good range of choice.
The San Gallo Palace Hotel is slightly out of the centre of Firenze, about a 15 minute walk. However, the walk into the centre takes you past the Museum of San Marco - an absolute must.
The San Gallo Palace is a quality hotel. We would definitely consider staying there again if we return to Firenze.

The room is small, but very nice. The bathroom is beautifully tiled. The staff is extremely nice and helpful. The hotel is not in the center of Florence, but we were easily able to walk to all the major sights within fifteen minutes and then go back to the quiet hotel. The air conditioning worked well too.

A short walk from Hotel to Acadamea where the statue of David was situated, Fascinating, leave early get there before 9 and no queues. Food deli 50 metres away "delicious". Breakfast at hotel very tempting, especially the lemon Youghurt. Great experience..

florence est une ville chère sur le plan hotelier en comparaison avec des villes comme barcelone par exemple ; transports en commun de qualité moyenne ce qui rend l'hotel un peu excentré ... à la fin d'une journée de visite;
par contre acceuil satisfaisant et organisation des sites à visiter de bonne qualité

WE had a FANTASTIC stay in San Gallo for 3 nights. The only problem we had, was that the location on the map (on the web site) was misleading. It suggested the hotel to be much closer to the train station than it was. This was unfortunate for us as, we had decided to walk from the train station & the road in which San Gallo is on, is a very very long road. However, I would still return as its a very beautiful hotel with excellent staff - I'd just take a taxi the next time.

Very nice, clean, spacious hotel. A little far from the center of town, but we took the bus. Also, we were told we could walk from the train station, but with luggage on a hot day, is would be better to get a cab. We had a problem with the air conditioning and were immediately given another room. Breakfast, bar and services were excellent. The Courtyard is lovely, even with the noise from the cars and mopeds. We would definately stay there again.
One lesser known landmark/site that we would recommend is the Instito e Museo do Storia della Scienca (Science Museum)- Piazza del Guidici.

A bit of a walk to where the action. TV could use some more international channels and in-room internet is expensive. On the plus side you get a fantastic room for a reasonable price. Classy, spacious and comfortable. A relaxing haven after a long day in the chaos of summertime Florence.

We had previously read comments from visitors and chose to stay at "The Palace". It was a great location but one needs not to mind a 20 minute walk into the heart of the city.
The staff, the rooms and particularly the breakfasts were excellent and we would not hesitate to stay again. Leave your car in the garage and take the Bus Tour!

We had a wonderful stay at San Gallo, and will definitely stay again. The staff is very inviting and friendly, the room and bathroom were very spacious, clean, and luxorious, and the breakfast was delicious. The garden was gorgeous and it was in walking distance of a lot of needs like grocery store, wine store, and drug store. The only complaint one could make is that is is far from the center of town. However, it was a very pleasant and safe 10-15min walk to all the sights, and we had no problem walking. Florence was my favorite city of the 4 we visited, and part of my excitement about this city is how wonderful our stay was. Highly recommended.

San Gallo Palace is one of the very few hotels in Italy that meet "international hotel standards." The hotel staff is very caring. They don't give you that "whatever" attitude, which is a common practice among hotel staff in many European countries. I was in Firenze to attend a trade show and most restaurants were fully booked. One of the staff members (her name was Paula) made numerous phone calls and booked a reservation for me at a very nice restaurant (it took her about an hour!). The room rate was a bit expensive due to the high demand during the trade show, however, the off-peak season rate seemed very attractive. One downside was the shower: it was a bit too small for me. Anyhow, my overall rating for this hotel is A+!

Florence is a relatively small city with most of the attractions and restaurants around the East of the city centre. Whilst this hotel is North of the city it is located by a well known Piazza (which makes it easy to find) and is only 15 minutes walk from the main area in the city.
The hotel itself has beautiful roooms and extremely friendly and helpful staff who speak excellent English.
We'd certainly go to this Hotel again and would recommend it to friends.
Hope you enjoy!! - Dean & Christina, Manchester, England

Generally speaking I am not the type that will provide feedback on these questioners, but our stay in San Gallo in Florence was excellent. The staff was extremely helpful and courteous, the rooms were typical European seize rooms and very clean. I ended up staying an additional day as a result and would strongly recommend this location to anyone who wants a five star quality hotel at a very reasonable price.

Forget about European room standards, our San Gallo Palace room was first-rate and spacious even by USA standards! The bathroom also was roomy and sparkling clean. And we appreciated the 110 outlet in the bathroom (be sure to bring a transformer/outlet for your electrical appliances -- all of Europe is wired for 220).
San Gallo Palace is an elegant and quiet retreat from the bustle of the Central Florence City core, unless you want to be in the middle of all the crowds and bustle. We did wish it was a little closer to the City Center as we hoofed it over there each day. But we would definitely stay here again!! Two blocks away is a great little restaurant, "Alfredo's." Don't miss it!

The room we had was one of the best hotel rooms I have ever stayed in. The decor and the ensuite were very nice. We especially enjoyed the tv which could go on the internet , book films etc.
The buffet breakfast was lovely also. A good choice of foods and the service from the waiters and waitresses was excellent. Very friendly staff.
I would thoroughly recommend this hotel.

Our stay was wonderful here! This is a beautiful hotel! The service was excellent, breakfast was the best we had in Europe and the rooms were immaculate! The only downside was it was about a 20 minute walk from the Doumo. If you don't have the means to hire a taxi like us, perhaps this is not a good choice for you.

Excellent value for money, a fabulous hotel great rooms and bathrooms. The only minus point is that its a little way out of the centre of Florence ( a good 15-20 min walk) but otherwise superb.

Hotel in good location for visiting Centre of Florence; 15 minutes walk to main attractions but restaurants and bars within minutes; downside was hotel did not have restaurant itself; all in all would definitely stay there if we returned to Florence.

This hotel was one of the most pleasant we stayed at in our European trip. The staff were very friendly and spoke excellent English and were even interested in where we came from too. The breakfast buffet was a good standard for the price and (as recommended by the hotel) Alfredo's restaurant just 100 metres away was superb quality and value for our evening meals. I would definitely use this hotel again if I was to revisit Florence as access to it was easy and the car parking facilities for the hotel were easy to get to even though they were 200 metres away.

We loved the San Gallo Palace! Rooms were spacious, modern and clean. The staff were professional. We loved the pillow menu which allowed us both to select a different pillow to our liking. I usually have bad allergies whenever I travel, but the room itself was clean enough that I did not have to take any allergy medication.
We got very good value for the price we paid for our room. Booking via tripadvisor.com and venere.com was so easy. Thank you!

Heartily recommend this hotel. A bit more of a walk but worth the quiet and the spaciousness and the shower! Very good value. Had a twin bed in foyer/room with closet and bath separating king bedroom (not 2 twins) with a very large private patio as weel.
