HOTEL OVERVIEW

Hotel Grand Hotel Baglioni Florence - Venere.com hotel outside A symbol of Florentine hospitality since 1903, the presigious Grand Hotel Baglioni, situated in the historic centre of Florence, has played a leading role in historic and high society events, providing accommodation within its nineteenth century walls for rulers, heads of state, artists, intellectuals and travelers from around the world.

Its imposing mass reaches out towards the sky of Florence standing above the rooftops of the city-centre and looking out onto the magnificent dome of the Cathedral and Giotto's Campanile.

The hotel preserves the charm and elegance typical of the Florentine tradition but is also equipped with all the most modern comforts, creating a perfect balance between maintaining tradition and continuously improving its services.

The property, formerly the residence to the Carrega Bertolini Princes, features vast, impressive spaces: top quality materials like wood and pietra serena dominate the halls, corridors and stairways, windows still preserve the original glass mounted in lead frames and the very high ceilings are decorated with traditional wooden beams.

There are numerous works of art in the hotel including frescos, paintings, statues and an interesting exclusive permanent photo exhibit which uses old and contemporary images to tell one hundred years of Florence's history.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Baglioni and in Florence in general. My only disappointment with the Baglioni was that it did not have No-Smoking rooms. We were told at reception that the rooms are cleaned thoroughly after each guest. The room was very clean, but I could still smell smoke, either from the previous guest or from the neighbouring guests. I expect that such a high class hotel would have entire floors dedicated to no-smoking guests.

Lovely 5 day stay for our 40th wedding anniversary. Restaurant menu did not change during our stay therefore eating out was essential. Although breakfast spread over 3+ hours we had to queue each morning and the organisation was rather chaotic! Sometimes also had a disappointing wait for hot food to be replenished. However, overall the hotel and staff were as expected for a four star, city centre major hotel.

This hotel was a great choice for a first night in Florence. I had a true room with a view. The breakfast was great, and the view from the restaurant and the outdoor rooftop bar is fantastic. The underpass from the main train station to the hotel front door is an added bonus if you are dragging a suitcase.

The hotel has very helpful and professional staff (the front desk staff speak English!). It is conveniently located about 1 block from the train station and it is just a few steps from the tour bus pick-ups. It is also within walking distance (10 minutes to 30 minutes) of all the sights (Duomo, Academia, Uffizi, Ponte Vecchio, Boboli gardens, shopping). The hotel has a beautiful breakfast room (great hot/cold breakfast) with large panoramic windows that look out on Florence, it also has an outdoor multi level terrace that gives incredible views on Florence at night. We loved our stay here!

If you are taking a car make sure to get a Navigator. Parking is not at the hotel but at a hotel next door. Rooms are much larger than the rest of Italy. Breakfast choices are great. You can get to anywhere by foot from this hotel. GREAT PLACE!

When we arrived by train to Florence, we couldn't believe that the hotel was just a block or two away. It was so close and convenient. The only down side to the area is that it lacks the charm of the area due to buses, cabs, and cars moving in and out of the parking area in front of the hotel often. Other than that, it was conveniently located to most of what we wanted to see in Florence and we walked most places. The hotel staff was friendly, courteous and helpful.

This once "very" grand hotel still maintains most of it's charm. The hotel is located directly accross from Santa Maria Novella train station - we chose to travel to Florence from Venice by Eurostar train (the first class seats are good and the train is obviously much cheaper than flying and not much longer if you consider airport check-ins etc). A walk accros to the hotel and we were warmly welcomed. Our classic room turned out to be a suite which was spacious with a king bed, high ceilings and double windows to keep things quiet. A grand internal staircase takes you upstairs to the rooftop where you can see Florence unfold before you. A couple of gin and tonics from the bar and we sat and enjoyed the view. It's worth going up for a quick drink even if you aren't staying at the hotel. The hotel is also adjacent to the historical centre of Florence so, using the hotel as a base we walked to all the major museums and attractions. Another great aspect was being able to jump on a train to Pisa for an afternoon - highly recomended! (Grab some gelati and sit on the lawns on the main square) We spent 3 nights at the hotel before heading to Rome - again, walk accross to the train station and on to the Eurostar train. Other hotel features include good breakfast, clean throughout and helpful reception staff.

We booked a triple and got an excellent room that significantly enhanced our stay. Our son, 15 years old, had a comfortable bed of his own and the room had enough space to fit us in with our luggage and give us enough seating space in the sofa arrangement so we didn't step on each other. The room decor was charming and the hotel staff were competent and helpful. Service was good and I saw the housekeeping staff smiling everyday, which is a rarity! Breakfast was adequate and the roof terrace is exceptional, specially watching the sun set with a glass of Brunello di Montelcino! The location is fabulous, right near Santa Maria Novella station with easy access to everything in Firenze. All-in-all and excellent stay and quite pleasurable.

Hotel was selected based on location and quality. Both were superb if a little pricey. Would stay there again when we return to Florence. Perfect location to explore all of the sites. Great view of the Duomo from the rooftop terrace where we had our coffee after dinner.

The staff was exceptionally welcoming and very accommodating. They had our tickets to the Ufizzi and Accademia waiting for us when we arrived (I highly recommend reserving a time at the galleries). The room was very quiet and dark for sleeping, with a beautiful view of the Duomo. It was a 2 minute walk to the train station, and very nicely located for walking everywhere in Florence. Very, very nice. My favorite of all 4 hotels on our visit to Italy.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the hotel and we recommend it to all those who want to stay in the centre. It's literally 5-10 minutes walking distance from all the major sites of the city and it has one of the most beautiful terraces where you can enjoy unobstructed views of the city and have dinner in a beautiful tuscan garden.

The room was amazing, the terrace was beyond amazing...the views were spectacular. The accessiblity from the train station was perfect. The only complaint I have is that the pictures do no justice to the actual accommodations. Everything was perfection.

3 negative things to say : - 100 Euros for parking my car 2 nights !! Nobody informed us about this supplement before the end of our stay... - if your room is at the highest floor, you should be under the restaurant. We have a very noisy night until 2 a.m. - some people at the caretaker's lodge are condescending For the rest : good surrounding, near famous monuments But next time we'll choose another 4 stars hotel.

An excellent hotel, near to railway station and in centre of Florence. Our triple room was a very good size with sofa, chairs and table and beds separted by door so our 14yr old son could have his own space. Very comfortable. Rooftop terrace was lovely for a drink in evening - did not use restaurant facility as very expensive. breakfast was excellent with bacon and scrambled eggs. Ideal for our 3 nights in Florence. Highly recommend.

Excellent location - near train station, but nice area. Internet was available, as were internet cafes in the area. Close proximity to major attractions. Clean rooms, excellent breakfast and nice staff. A very nice stay, although a bit pricey as we needed two rooms to accommodate our family of five.

An excellent hotel - room overlooking the carpark was very noisy. In future I would request a room overlooking a quieter street. At EUR239 - this is a lot to pay for a noisy room. Room was excellent though. Was woken up ion Monday morning at 8:30am with sewerage truck bnelow our window pumpuing out sewerage - very noisy and long duration.

Grand Baglioni Hotel was an average hotel. However, for the nightly rate of around $350.00, it was disappointing. The first and most important reason was that the front door to our room was too easy to break in to. My husband and I told the front dest attendant regarding this concern and though he said it would be taken care of, it never was. Our room was located on the first floor, just one set of stairs up from the hotel entrance. Everytime we left the room, we hoped for the best and fortunately no one found out that all one had to do was push on the door hard and it popped opened. The hotel is little dated and the street noise was loud. On the other hand, the breakfast room with a panoramic view of the city is quite beautiful and the breakfast buffett was equally pleasing. They also have this beautiful, I mean beautiful, deck on the roof but they had closed it off for a private function. The proximity of the hotel being close to the train station was convenient, but when I return to Florence I would book a room at anohter hotel.

This hotel had been recommended, in particular the lovely roof top restaurant used for breakfast and dinner. To our disappointment the roof top was under repair the five days we were guests. Also the spacious beautiful room we originally had was really noisy from the street traffic, and our request for another room was graciously accommodated, albeit to a smaller inside room.

The Baglioni was the highlight of our trip! This is truly a beautiful hotel-far nicer than many of the five star hotels I have visited in Europe. The staff was helpful and attentive. The location was perfect-a very short walk to the train station and the center of town. The lobby and breakfast room are great examples of classic European elegance. Our room was beautiful-it was very large, sunny and overlooked a lovely square. The bathroom was large, well appointed and spotless. The best part of the hotel was the lovely roof top garden and terrace where you could have a drink and watch the sunset over Florence. I can't wait to go back to Florence just to stay at the Baglioni! Book a room here and I promise you won't be disappointed!

I loved this hotel - everything from its proximity from the train station to the helpful staff to the decor and the charm of being a restored, early 1900's building. I will certainly be suggesting this property to others visiting Florence. I can't say enough about this hotel - it was fabulous. My only regret is that I didn't plan to stay longer in Florence and at the Baglioni...

This was a great location to stay in Florence! The rooms were spacious, extremely high ceiling, large bed and sitting area. I found the conceige to be abit abrupt in helping us find the shopping we needed. The breakfast is excellent with hot food (eggs and bacon - all western style) and plenty of fruit. If anyone is interested in name brand shopping (Prada, Gucci, YSL, Ferragamo) ask the conceige about 1. The Prada Outlet (I regret not buying more because even though it's last season, it's DAMN cheap) 2. THE MALL, which contains the outlets for the other name brands.

Estuve alojado en una junior suite estupenda. El único defecto es el ruido permanente del colector general del aire acondicionado que se filtraba a través de las ventanas. El espacio, limpieza y comodidad de las habitaciones es excelente. un hotel recomendable

We very much enjoyed our stay at the hotel. However i felt that at 244 Euros at night car parking should be included, this cost an extra 57 euros for the two nights not a great deal of money but it all adds up. Our room looked into the middle of the hotel and was quite nosiy when the resturant/bar was clearing up.

The staff appeared bored, nonchalent and sluggish. Getting help at reception was a major task and you really felt they were doing you such a favour by so much as looking at you! The roof terrace, however, is fantastic and for that alone, worth returning.

We had booked 2 rooms, both to have views of the Duomo. Neither room had this view. One room was large and quiet. The other rather smaller and overlooked the road. During the night this room suffered from noise from the passers-y and from the early morning rubbish collectors.
