Right in the heart of the city centre, the Lyncliff is a centrally positioned Edinburgh hotel near Carlton Hill. All of Edinburgh Old Town's main cultural attractions and night spots are within walking distance of the hotel. For example, it takes around 10 minutes to get to Princes Street and only a little more to reach Grassmarket and the Edinburgh Mile.
When you arrive at this small budget Edinburgh hotel, you will be warmly welcomed by the hotel's owners, Isabel and Greg Fernandez, both of whom have years of experience in the catering industry. A part of the hotel was designed by famous architect William H. Playfair, and it enjoys a panoramic view of Calton Hill.
Upon prior agreement, guests staying at the Lyncliff Hotel can enjoy delicious evening meals in the hotel's dining room, a real treat for those who like to eat well while on holiday. There is also a free wireless Internet hotspot in the lounge area, far cheaper than spending 30 minutes in an Internet Café.

Comment - the room we were given was exactly 6ft wide. There was no ensuite facilities. When we pointed this out, the owner stated that we had booked a "standard double room". This to someone outside the trade is gobboledegook. The web site should make it far more clear as to the exact nature of the room being booked. The staff were pleasent and cheerful We visit Edinburgh regularly

We went to Edinburgh to see the EIF during the weekend from the 1st to the 3rd September. Our room was quite small and not really clean, the bathroom and the showers were shared with other people (instead we were told that it was outside the room but only for us),and the basin in the room was awfully noisy during the night, so we couldn't sleep well. The breakfast buffet was quite poor. The only positive aspect was the position, it is really central and near to the bus central station...but honestly I wouldn't suggest anyone to book there!

The worst one is the rate quality - price. The space for breakfast is very small. Its announce in Internet as B&B but, in fact, is a hotel, and for the price, the difference is important, a good B&B or a bad hotel. Anyway, for the same price, we have been days after in Brunswick hotel, very close to Lyncliff hotel, and with much more quality.

The hotel is great. The owners were really kind to us. The room was big enough. Despite that you don´t have a private bathroom, everything was absolutely clean all the time. Its location is perfect, near the city centre and main attractions. Great hotel. 100% guaranteed!

The Lyncliff is a small friendly family-run hotel in an excellent location in Edinburgh. We were lucky to get a room in the last week of the festival. Hotels in Edinburgh arent cheap and this is no exception considering the quality of the accomodation. The rooms are small and you share a bathroom with the other guests. The shower room is cramped. The house is old and the plumbing makes loud noises that keep you awake in the morning when the other guests are using the bathroom. On the plus side, you can walk everywhere, it's in a nice part of town, the rooms are kept clean and the staff/family are friendly.
