Hotel Regent Beach Resort - Dubai

I don't think this property quite knows what it is. It is certainly a hotel near to the public beach but it appears to concentrate more on its restaurant business which does impede on the atmosphere and overall comfort of the hotel. We were upgraded to a superior (we suspect somebody had complained about this room and were in turn transferred to our standard room!) The superior room was lovely and a decent size, however we were unable to open our curtains throughout our entire stay as our patio doors looked out directly onto a table within the restaurant. Unfortunately as the restaurant has expanded the hotel has utilised any morsel of space i.e. the superior room terrace has evolved into a seating area for the restaurant hence it wasn't an option to open the curtains to experience daylight! It is a real shame as this could be a decent hotel near to the beach and city. The photographs displayed in many of the publications certainly show the Hotel as it was in it's hey day prior to the restaurant expansion (which is merely a big gazebo cunningly named Alibaba's tent placed over the communal area's!) My partner and I are pretty positive people and usually see the best and put up with any incidentals. We found ourselves however trying to stay out as long as possible in order not to return to the hotel as we just didn’t want to go back to our room. As such we decided to check out half way through our stay and found alternative accommodation.

As soon as I arrived there, I wanted to cancel. I aske for an access to internet, there were only two and busy. I aske for manager, she was home. I asked for cancellation again, they said it must be in via internet, but no access even from the room of manager they didn't allow me. The room was nasty and smells sourline odor form toilet to all over the room. the air conditioner was sooooo hot, I informed them about all. I slept arround 3 hours swetting. No cooperation at all. I tried to get to you to send you a cancellation requwst and a complaint, but no internet was there. Also the path rhrou which I get to the room was through 3 restaurants!!!! really poor. I ask you for compensation and refund sir.Also my time was wasted till night. ZAKI M ALMUBARAK

Just a quick break in Dubai. I emailed the hotel for an airport pick up on arrival, but it never arrived, and I didn't get an apology either. Two hour wait for room when I got to hotel, but as I arrived at 9am and rooms aren't supposed to be available until 2pm, not too bad, I guess. I was asked to leave for the airport ½ hour early to share the transport. I asked for my wake call to be changed. It wasn't and there was no-one else in the cab either, further more the cost from the hotel was 50 dirhams, but the driver only asked for 40 dirhams. Unfortunately, I'd already paid the hotel!

Nice spacious rooms. Staff very helpful and friendly but sometimes dont knock when coming into your room!!! Very good location and I would strongly recommend it as a great value for money hotel.
