This hotel is overpriced. Room was very small and we had the smallest bathroom I have ever seen, including Paris. The location next to the lake and ferry is excellent and the staff are helpful and friendly although English is limited.Breakfast was adequate at best.

We had stayed in this hotel previously 3 years ago just for a couple of nights. Since then, 2 new very loud bars have opened either side, which is not what we really wanted for 10 nights. However, the double glazing helped and the views are stunning over the lake. Our room also had a balcony which was an unexpected bonus. The staff in this family run hotel are very obliging and friendly and the gin & tonics come in huge measures! The hotel is ideally situated in the centre of things, with many fab restaurants close-by, especially atmospheric are those round the Porto Vecchio. The best Pizza though was in what looks a bit like a shack, further round on the lake-side by the public spiaggia. The best ice-cream shop, Vivaldis, is only a couple of doors down from the hotel. The hotel is only across the road from where the ferries to most other lake resorts depart from. Ideal for travellers like us who won't drive abroad. The train station is a bit further out of the centre but has excellent links to Milan, Verona and Venice. We would recommend this hotel for a short break and would return, if we were, for instance, going for a night at the Arena in Verona, as it isn't too far away and has good public transport and road links.

Nice hotel, a bit warn down (or just old style, older yellowish curtains etc), but the staff was quite friendly, and you do not get any better location than this (town center).. Most staff understood english and I had no communication problems. Parking is not perfect, there is an agreement with a sister hotel 400 meters away, but their parking place is not very large hence you risk having no free parking.
Overall I was quite satisfied with my stay and I guess that no more or less could be expected from the 3 stars. But again, the location is PERFECT..

Nice 3 star hotel in excellent location. Directly across the street from boat dock and within walking distance to public beach. Quad room was spacious, comfortable beds and clean bathroom. Decent breakfast and friendly staff-some speak English. Good choice for families.

We arrived and were put in a room with a terrible smell, it was late so we just slept, thinking it was due to non use in winter. We aired the room in the morning the smell didnt go away. Small basic hotel, staff friendly and efficient great location opposite the harbour, breakfast basic but fine.
The Hotel has a superb location in front of the harbour, make sure you get a room overlooking it. The room we got was not really a good price/value ratio.

The car park was 200meters from the Hotel (at hotel City), the rooms were very small and the bathroom for the quad room was tiny. The A/C was faulty the first day but was fixed when reported. The area was overcrowded and very noisy. The furniture was old and worn out.

Fabulous view from room balcony more than compensated for any other shortcomings. This was the perfect place to stay in Desenzano as the Hotel is in centre of the action and very close to all transport around the lake.Very helpful staff. Would happily stay in this hotel again.

The Tripoli is very centrally located - great for pubs, restaurants, bus stop and ferry boat. It is also within walking distance (but about 1km uphill) of train station.
It is a small hotel and facilities are basic but still I think good value for money.
I asked for a room with a lake view - and stayed in a 1st floor room with a small balcony. Not all rooms have a view or balcony, so be sure to ask when you book.

Fantastic location for taking boat trips on the lake, the boat station is literally across the road from the hotel. Balcony rooms give wonderful views across the lake. Welcoming staff, good breakfast.

On first impressions very pleased. Room appeared clean and modern and also had balcony but the bathroom was tiny and smelly. The bedroom had what appeared to be small black fleas in the bed and the carpet. Staff were very helpful and pleasant.

Position très centrale face à l'embarcadère.
Acceuil excellent. Mais nous étions dans une chambre pour 4 et la salle de bains était minuscule.
Le parking est situé dans un autre hôtel situé à 150m, ce qui n'est pas pratique pour charger et décharger les bagages, en particulier les jours de marché.

some of the rooms facing the main PIAZZA offer a spectacular view of the Garda lake. The ones on the top floor (rooms 3xx) are smaller. The ones on the first floor (1xx) have much more space. Ask for the ones with the balcony (with a lovely breakfast table for two). The place is dead central, pedestrian area full of shops and restaurants.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay - we requested a room with a balcony and it was definitely worth it! The hotel is right in the middle of the piazza and looks out over the Lake - we enjoyed sitting on the balcony drinking wine watching the busy toing and froing below - but it is not for you if you want peace and quiet!

We booked the hotel last minute, so this may have affected our room choice. However, we had a very, very small room with no view. We were able to see other rooms in the hotel that people were in and there were much larger rooms. Again, this could be because we decided to try and find a place the night before and that may have been all that was available. There were also rooms that had balconies and views of the lake that looked very nice. I would request one of those if I went there again.

Our overall stay was good but the room was TINY! It was small to begin with and with an extra bed there was not even room to roll in a carryon suitcase. The staff was friendly and competent, but spoke very little English which did not present a problem however. The hotel was situated in the center of town, across a piazza from Lake Garda. The hotel had no privat parking, which was a problem. It is located on a pedestrian only street with only the possibility of unloading luggage. It was difficult to find a space anywhere nearby, as public parking around town was very full. Aside from feeling like we were in cage while in the room, we had a pleasant stay.
