The room is a typical room if you want to stay for a night or two, no more. The noise from the street nearby is realy a problem. Parking also is not provided, but you can find places near the hotel with 2-5 € per day.

Service was o.k. but the price is by far too expensive for such a hotel in that location, which is so loud and the room is 10m distance from the sports stadium.

This hotel is a really an impertinence for travellers. We (little family) get a room with a 'double bed' about 1,20 meter. We are not on the street front but the noise was very loud although the windows are closed. No obligingness of the personal and hotel manager to find a solution. The breakfast was a joke - only Cappu was good. Sorry, I couldn´t recommend this hotel in Como anybody.

The hotel was quiet, modern and clean. Location was within walking distance of city center and train station. Free internet connection actually worked, as opposed to other hotels we stayed in. The staff was very helpful with restaurant recommendations and gave us discount coupons. Elevator was appreciated and breakfast was excellent.

Great location near train station and easy walk into town centre. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Room and bed were small but comfortable. I expect the price is on the high side due to popularity of area.

Hotel staff were good and helpful. Traffic noise could be heard despite double glasing and would recommend that guests request a rear facing room. Hotel was well located near parks with a Supermaket located nearby

Excellent location for the train station, the lake and the town center. We had rooms 222 and 223 which are away from the main street. Definite value here, especially for a short stay. The town of Como is not a long stay place. We came in late by train, roamed the town that night having pizza in an outdoor cafe. Then took our bags down the next morning and checked them at the desk and spent the day in Bellagio (travelling by boat) which was very fun. recommend a similar program. Then picked up a rental car and left that afternoon for Carreno on Lake Maggiore which was also beautiful.

We stayed only for a night and generally we had a pleasant stay.Staff very helpful and competent.Hotel clean and very close to the lake and it was very easy to find by car.Breakfast was geat too. Only negative point was the noise from the busy road that the hotel was on despite the double glasse windows.Maybe a little bit overpriced for what it had to offer.Overall a pleasant stay.

We had an enjoyable three day stay in Hotel Engadina. The room was modest but clean and comfortable and the staff were very courteous. The only 'negative' was that our room fronted onto a busy street and was therefore a little noisy. That said, after each day of exploration we had little problem getting to sleep!

This is a friendly hotel, very close to Lake Como, the centre of town and the railway station. The rooms are clean, well decorated and air conditioned. There is a busy road at the front of the hotel, but with the windows closed the noise is considerably reduced. The only potential problem could be that the hotel has very little dedicated parking. It made a great base for visiting Monza, Milan, Lake Como and Switzerland.

We only stayed one night, but this was a great hotel. This probably isn't the most central hotel, but it is only a 10 minute walk from the main train station and a 10 minute walk to the central part of Como. The receptionist (young lady) was extremely helpful in directing us to the places we wanted to see. She was fluent in english as well. We had read about it being kind of noisy, but we did not experience this problem at all. We had an interior room though. Would definitely recommend to others as well as stay here again.

A good, basic, three star hotel. Do print out a google map in order to find it though as the hotel's version isn't the most detailed. Breakfast is good (coffee, juice, yoghurts, croissants, rolls with condiments) and the location is five minutes walk from the lakeside and centre of Como. It is overpriced, but I think this is symptomatic of Como, rather than this particular hotel.

Good option for one night or lower budget stay. About a 20 minute walk from hotel to lake and downtown (i.e. Piazza Cavour). Clean rooms, clean bathrooms. Excellent latte for breakfast. No internet access. Insider tip: The hotel is close to the train station, but do not try to walk (despite the recommendation of the hotel staff) if you have heavy luggage, as the path from the hotel to the train station is only about 15 minutes but travels across several busy streets, narrow cobble stone sidewalks and includes several flights of steep stairs.

This was a good hotel for the price. The rooms were small, but not a-typical by European standards, and the bathrooms were nice. It's only a couple of blocks from the water and a about a 10 minute walk to the "heart" of Como. The only issue we had was finding the hotel since it's hard to see from the street.

United Kingdom, Aug 2007
The location of the hotel is excellent! its only a 5 minute walk and your in the heart of Como, and as a single female traveller I found the area to be very safe. My only complaint would be that the rooms are tiny, it was no problem for me because I didn't spend much time in the room but it was a bit of a shock to walk into such a small room! it was very clean though and you get a small cute balcony. Also whilst the breakfast was good, there are only limited tables so if the hotel is full you may have to wait for a table in the morning for breakfast (but annoying if your trying to catch the first ferry to Bellagio!). Overall though, for the price and location it was a very comfortable stay. I would stay there again for sure.

This is a good value hotel a very short walk from the Lake front. Our room was well decorated and very clean with fridge, aircon and balcony. The bathroom was superb. Only disappointment was breakfast which was adequate but nothing special with truly appalling coffee - not what I expect in Italy.

We stayed in Como for 2 nights. Engadina was a great base for the price. Only complaint was the traffic noise at night, although we had friends staying in another room and they couldn't hear the noise. We were closer to the main road.

The location was very good for a stay in Como, not in the main hustle, but a 10 minute walk along the water. It was great for me. The only concern I had was for a non-smoking room it did smell quite heavily of smoke. I would use the hotel again.

Our room had a fairly unattractive view (although not horrific). We were expecting a modern, efficient, fairly economical, clean hotel with air conditioning (for one night between destinations during our trip through Italy) and that's exactly what we got. The personnel was all very friendly and accommodating and the rooms were spotless.

Friendly, helpful staff and a good, well run hotel in a convenient location. Not the most picturesque area of Como, but easy to find, with car parking directly in front of premises. I used it merely for a 1 night stopover on the way to Umbria and it suited me perfectly. Very close to main autoroute.

This place was great EXCEPT for the street noise. It is on a busy road and all you hear are cars going by all the time. I was happy with the room - the bathroom was all new with nice new working plumbing. The room was big enough and clean and met our needs. I was surprised it was nicer than I expected - though the road noise was a bummer.

Beds were very hard. Location was on a busy rd but outside noise not too bad. Room was smelly from too much smoking and little on the warm side. Staff were excellent and very helpful. Location is close enough to main stuff (8-10 mins walk to station and city centre). Walls were very thin. Breakfast was a little stingy with the croissants.

We would definitely stay here again. The room was lovely and clean. Very nice breakfast room with good service. (Great cappucinos!) All of the staff were helpful with any questions we had. The location of the hotel is OK, although if you arrive at the train station its about a 15 minute walk. Our room had a lot of traffic noise as a main road runs in front of the hotel. They have block out shutters on the windows which helped, but there was still quite a lot of traffic noise. The rooms are good, very clean, large enough and the bathrooms are good.

I was very plased with this accommodation. It was central to what Como had to offer and to both railway stations. The staff was especially helpful and friendly. Although I was confident in communication in Italian, when I had to ring the airline, which was a little more difficult, the phone call was made for me, willingly and cheerfully. The room was very comfortable, the bathroom well equipped and newly fitted (loved the bath!!)The breakfast was typical continental style - but fine. I would return to this hotel.

I was at this hotel for two nights and had a double bed all though I was alone. The traffic noise is ridiculous. I had asked for a room away from the street but when your alone hotels tend to put you in the worst location. I would highly suggest getting better glass on the rooms facing the street. Breakfast was alright (croissant, buns, orange juice and coffee) I ordered a cafe latte and was presented with a jug of coffee and a jug of milk. I paid 70 euro a night but the price list in the hotel said 60 euro a night. The best part of my stay was the snack bar next door. The woman running it is delightful and the "snack food" tastes pretty good. I would suggest looking elsewhere first and using this hotel as a last resort

Never again!

The hotel seems to be near the Railway Station, but in fact you can either walk, which is not so funny with a suitcase, or take a taxi, unfortunately there is not bus service at all. The hotel is not central, it is on the boundary of the city with quite a lot of traffic. Inside and when windows are closed it has been very well renovated, upgraded actually from a 2 to 3 star hotel.

Our stay at Engadina will be a memorable one. Very clean rooms, staff was cordial, loved our little balcony in one of the two rooms. AC worked well, both rooms were quite, the location of the hotel walking distance to the lake, shops and restaurants. Breakfast was ample and a very tasty capuccino. I highly recommend it if you're to spend your time ourdoors. Free parking was very helpfull, make shure you ask for the Parking Card at the desk. It is not for a resort type of stay. Our two teenaged kids were happy with this hotel's arrangements. I would return to Engadina.

Great location--short walk to both the center of Como and the train station. The facility was new, modern and clean- a marble bath, shower curtain(!) and a spotless tub! Best of all the staff tried to help in every way; the morning manager even used his own cell phone to help! A definite good choice.

Lovely hotel, close to SG train station. Hotel staff very helpful and polite, a chambermaid helped with luggage, receptionists were very friendly and accommodating. Breakfast staff very pleasant and went out of their way to speak to my 2year old grandson. Room on the third floor was cosy clean and quiet(at least until the last night when a few very noisy residents woke us up at 3a.m. At 300 euros for 3 nights, it wasnt cheap but I have learned that it is far better to pay a little extra for a far better experience. If you're traveling by rail, this hotel is in a great location- about a five minute walk from the station. Also, it's only about a ten minute walk to Piazza Cavour, the main square in town. Restaurants are also fairly close by. The staff was very helpful and accommodating, and the continental breakfast was very good. One drawback may be that if you're a light sleeper, the sound of the motorcycles at night might be disturbing, as the hotel is on a main street. Otherwise, it's a great bet at a great price.

Malgré quelques difficultés à repérer l'entrée de l'hôtel, nous avons pleinement apprécié l'accueil et le confort, ainsi que la réelle proximité des sites intéressants. This hotel was difficult to find because there are two different rail lines that stop in Como. One needs to take the line that stops at the San Giovanni station. I took the other line and walked 2 km with a heavy suitcase. While the reception people were very nice, and there is an elevator and air conditioning, the room felt cramped and there was no view from the window. Given that Como is a beautiful city, I think one could do better than this for the price.

As expected from previous comments, the hotel is very comfortable and the staff are very helpful. Breakfast is basic continental (rolls or croissants and jam). The hotel has a useful and reasonable bar/cafe/gelateria to one side (connected with the foyer). As it is on a busy main road, make sure you close the windows and balcony door so that the air conditioning works and keeps out traffic noise at night. Very good and reasonable trattoria locally "In Borgovico" (ask at desk, closed on Mon).

Americans will compare this Hotel to a motel 6. Very small rooms, no pictures on the wall, just a bed with a bathroom. The problem is that it cost us the price of a Mariott. The web site map was very poor and made it hard to find. The Hotel is right on a very busy street and our room was right in front and the noise kept us awake most of the night. The staff was friendly and spoke english and the breakfast was O.K. The bathroom was clean with a very small shower. If you drop your soap you have to get out of the shower and reach in to get it. It was a 8 -10 min. walk to the lake. Of all the Hotels we stayed in in Italy this was our least favorite.

It's squeaky clean and newly renovated, all right. Location is B+. Rooms and bathrooms are for the dwarfs, not for real size people. Breakfast is pathetic. Staff could not tell me how to get outside line from the room, and how much it costs. Credit card machine refuse to work at check-out time. Bottomline - if you are lonely traveler - it's OK for a quick overnighter, otherwise - don't bother.
