This hotel is located quite a walk from the main center and it took us about 15 mins to get to the city fringe. In saying that, because of this we walked through an area that we would not normally have ventured to and we also walked through the entire town to get to the lake which was nice. The hotel also has free bicycles for guest use and provides free umbrellas if needed. A very quiet hotel which is rare in Italy and this is due to its location further from the center. Internet facilities available and they also have wireless internet for the rooms. Breakfast standard European continental and also a bar in the lobby for that nightcap. Staff we most helpful and very friendly and even teaches you a bit of Italian if you like. All in all a comfortable stay.

The hotel made a generally good impression and the staff was welcoming. But somehow they forgot to clean our toilet... One of the windows didn't close properly, so it got a bit cold during the night and street-noise was disturbing in the morning. Nice breakfast-buffet. Not right in the center, but parking is a plus.

Over priced. rooms are tired.
The pool was a huge disappiontment . when we went up all seats were taken, much smaller than the photograph makes it look.
long walk to town. Map you provide is useless.
breakfast was ok despite the constant loud chatter of young staff.
but really this hotel does not justify the prices.

Rooms were very nice, large and clean. The staff were friendly and helpful and the free internet access was helpful.
Alternatively, the roof top area was closed, although it was september and still quite warm. Our deluxe shower wasn't functioning and there are many better located hotels in como.

Room was exellent but noise insulation could be better. Breakfast was good, there was more to eat than only croissant. To find any special place in Italy is allways diffucult. This hotel has signs on the main street that helps to find it. I will visit this hotel again.

THE HOTEL WAS OK but about - 15 minute walk from the lake. External of Hotel not pretty, however rooms were spacious and clean. OK for a one night stop over as we did. Would not like to spend a week their.
Breakfast was ok but nothing special for the money.

The room was dusty at some places, the toilet had hair on the top, the bathroom door was sticky, opening the windows, there were Q-tips on the edge...
the distance from the hotel to the lake was not 400m but much over one kilometer

The Hotel Como suffers from being some 20-25 minutes walk from the Lake - not the stated 10-15 minutes that the hotel professes! The immediate surroundings appear somewhat bleak at first look but are easy to locate once one gets used to the area. The hotel appeared not to known of the local bus services (just around the corner from the hotel) that will take you to the lake in no time. Tickets can be purchased from the local cafe/shop during normal working hours. There is also a rail station nearby that will take you to the Lake (1 stop) or to Milan (journey time 1 hour)- fare very cheap at 6 euros.
There is an excellent market in the next street adjacent to the hotel where all maner of fruit, vegetables, meat, cheeses and flowers can be purchased at very reasonable prices.
The hotel boasts of a rooftop mrestaurant but on the first night that we arrived and booke a table the rains came down and we had to take the meal in a ground floor room. No-one informed us of this new location and a wasted journey to the roof ensued. The meal service itself was chaotic and took ages to get through. It would appear that the hotel had very few staff actually cooking the meals and the courses took too long to arrive.
Breakfast (buffet style) was OK but the choice offfered was somewhat sparse.
The room offered to my wife and I was adequate if somewhat sparse too. Clean sheets and towels were changed every day nonetheless. TV channels were a mixed selection (BBC World, CNN News and SKY News but without any sound!)

The hotel itself was nice, clean and tidy, like I would expect for the price. The service was friendly and helpful, the breakfast buffet very nice. But we had a room heading to the entrance and parking lot, where all the night through there were cars and trucks or loud people coming and going, so it was just impossible to get any sleep without using earplugs. Also you could hear the people speaking in the room next door, and the warm water tank (or whatever it was) made a bumping noise all the night through. So, whenever you are going to stay in this hotel, book a room heading to the back side!

This was an excellent hotel. It was a little difficult to find (my wife and I drove from Milan) but the local people were extremely helpful in directing us. We left the car in a free parking space (to the left when you enter the driveway) and walked to the lake (maybe an easy 15 minutes). There was an excellent market half way between the hotel and lake that the hotel staff directed us to. Though I consider this a little pricey - I doubt you'll do better in Como and I feel its a first class hotel!

the actual quality of the rooms and the hotel in general was not given justice by the website. The roof-top pool, bar and reastaurant was fantastic - especially having dinner on the roof looking over the hills, watching the sunset - bellisimo!
The staff were extremely helpful, the quality of the food at the restaurant was excellent and the room was perfect.
Thank you for such a wonderful stay.

The hotel is centrally placed and is excellent for a short stay. Main problem it is next door to the funicular station which connects to the main railway station. Therefore, the noise levels can be quite high. In summer, since there is no airconditioning, you have to keep the windows open which can accentuate the noise from the funicular and also from the events going on in the town center.

This hotel's main appeal is it's location-- it is a 5 minute walk to the Como Borghi rail station, which allows you to get to Milan Malpensa airport in an hour (connection at Saronna), so it's ideal place to spend one night if you've been staying in Lake Como area and have a very early flight from Malpensa (which we did).
But it wouldn't make a very scenic place to stay for a vacation. It's located outside of the historic part of Como, in a 1970s plain industrial suburb, just off the highway. When we were there, it was under construction and so we had scaffolding on our balcony. Rooms were adequate but musty and with outdated furniture.
Worth it only if you get a very cheap deal and need a room for just a night.

We found the description to be a little bit misleading - seemed to be a lot longer than 15 mins walk from the lake. The triple room was very good for us travelling with Grandma and our 9mth old baby, (but there were stairs to the small lift which were awkward to navigate). The hotel restaurant was excellent for food quality, service and price.

This is an excellent hotel offering good value for money and the staff are very friendly. The rooftop pool was appreciated. Rooms are spacious and well equipped. Car parking was somewhat limited but we got into the car park every night but one (and there were spaces later that evening; parking in the 'garage' is tight). The only downside is that the hotel is 20 minutes or so from the lakeside through the old town so at least there are shop windows to browse. It does mean the hotel is very quiet at night. We would certainly go back.

The best thing about this hotel is Nadia at the front desk, an extremely helpful, competent and capable person who provided us with the best restaurant recommendtions. Thanks to her we had some of the most memorable meals in our six months in Italy. The hotel, on the other hand, lacks personality; our room, while large, was uninviting and so-so on comfort; breakfast is repetitive - unfortunate if one is there for more than two days (we were there five). On the whole, the hotel is serviceable, convenient to the city center, parking is easy, and you're only a few blocks away from Ciao! which has fantastic gelato. It is not high on comfort and rather charmless. However, they do have Nadia, who is easily worth two of their four stars.

Smallish hotel, with friendly staff and a personal feel. Main disadvantage is that it is a good 20-25 minute walk to the lake and centre of Como. Has a small pool which is rare for hotels in the area.

My Girlfriend & I enjoyed our stay very much. The only comment was the supposed charge if we wanted to park underground. There is too limited parking on the surface outside the foyer - so no charge should be made. I struggled parking my car on the surface carpark.
