The staff was very friendly and welcoming. The room was neat and clean and in a very good location. We were directed to an excellent restaurant for dinner and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Breakfast was extra, but worth it.

Very good stay - excellent breakfast - ham, cheese, bread, cereal, juices, etc. very quiet room, only drawback is no lift and we had to carry our bags up a long flight of stairs.
free parking in lot in front of hotel. This is a market on Thursday mornings of everything from meats to clothing to jewelry. excellent base for exploring the lower chateau country.

Myself, my wife and our 3 year old son stayed at this location in the chambre bourgoise. Large room, very clean bathroom, right on the square. We had a great time in Chinon, the staff were lovely and accomodating. We would like to have stayed longer, but if we are in those parts agian we will look them up again. Great central location.

Breakfast was excellent. Very good service from the staff who spoke English, which was very handy. Very helpful with booking local tours and helping with the quirky train schedules. They have Internet access in the hotel for guests too, which is handy except it was temporarily out of service the time of our visit.
Beware the Chinon train schedules with a bus icon--they really mean bus (or "coach") and not a train!

We were treated very well by our hosts; they were extremely pleasant and helpful regarding places to eat, where to ride the bicycles we rented, etc. The staff was friendly as well. The only thing that was a bit off-putting was the exterior of the hotel--it looks much better in the photograph. However, once you're inside, it is fine.
The room we had was spartan and quite small, but very clean. Great bathtub--very deep and roomy and perfect for a good soak after a long bike ride!
We parked our car about 1/2 a block down the street, and never moved it in the two days we were in Chinon. (The parking was free, by the way.) The hotel is in a great location; everything is within walking distance.
Overall, our stay in Chinon was fantastic--the town is beautiful and charming; it was a most enjoyable time.

Very nice, small hotel. Ideal location in the city center. Free public car parking just infront of the hotel. We stayed in a nice, large family room for 4 persons. Friendly and helpful staff - also in english. Breakfast was worth the money paid. Best regads from a family from Tuusula, Finland.

This is a lovely family run hotel. The owners are endeavouring to carry out major refurbishments and I have no doubt based on the work todate that this will be a fine hotel when all the work is completed and I would like to wish them every success in there venture. Looking forward to a return visit. Very well located.

My husband and I took a train from Paris to Chinon for a weekend in September. Since the hotel was not busy while we were there they let us stay in a family room so we really enjoyed the space compared to the other European hotels we stayed in. The owners were wonderful and spoke English very well. A delightful experience!

This is a lovely, small hotel in a beautiful small town in the Loire. It is across the road from the Vienne river, just at the outskirts of the old section of town in Chinon, and at the heart of the Loire valley. The proprietors are extremely friendly, knowledgable, and helpful. Hotel breakfasts were very good and included (in addition to the normal French offerings of breads, tea, and coffee)cereals, fresh fruits, meats and cheeses, various fruit juices, and homemade jams! I heartily recommend both Chinon and Hotel Le Plantagenet for anyone wishing to explore the Loire or even just spend a quiet, relaxing weekend in a lovely town.

Small, family-run, typically French 2* hotel. Everything obviously in good state and super clean (bathrooms spotless and fault-free). Friendly, helpful family (v. good English if you need it). In a tourist town like Chinon this was excellent value.
We stayed in the cheapest rooms: in summer we'd choose with air-con (ie more expensive).

It's run by a really nice family. Breakfast was good and the service and general hospitality were great. The room was a little shabby, and the shower head was in need of repair, but the room was spacious and fine for the price (we had one of the cheaper rooms).

The hotel really corresponds to the level of 2 stars hotel. It is situated almost in the center of Chinon not far from the main streets and the castle. The rooms are small but there is everything required and it is not a problem when you come there only to sleep. Also there are rooms with view to the castle. The breakfast was very good, one of the best from all 2 stars hotels where we stayed during our trip in France. The owners are very kind and they can express themselves in english quite well (what is very seldom in France). We would come again for 1-2 nights.

The owners of this hotel spoke excellent English and were extremely friendly. We had a room in the Maison Bourgoise, which I gather were the nicest rooms. Our room was very spacious and well furnished. The bathroom needed renovating and the shower was ordinary, washed the wall more than the body, but that was our only negative comment. The hotel was a short walk to the main square in Chinon which had a range of restaurants, cafes and bars. There was a bar and cafe in the same block aswell which was convenient. There was a major free municipal carpark right across the road.
The photos available on the website do not do this hotel justice.

Very disappointing hotel. The site vs. what we got was miles apart. Room was old and run down and felt dirty as a consequence. The bathroom was not inviting at all and i kept out of it as much as possible. We would not stay again.

A simple hotel, very clean, run by a very competent and friendly couple. It would have rated evn higher but for a lack of storage space in the bedrooms. We were accomodated in the rooms overlooking the courtyard.

When we arrived, the owners offered us rooms at the garden side of the hotel-very quiet- for the same price as the rooms we reserved. Breakfast in the sunny room in the middle of the garden was great. We liked staying in this hotel. But one point to make it better: Please install a socket in the bathroom! And a little more space for the clothes would be great!
