We arrived by car, and were unfamiliar with the city. While there is an unloading zone, finding it was a bit of a hassle. Many streets surrounding the hotel are one-way and the hotel is at the confluence of about six streets, so we had to circle several times before finding our way. Once we had parked the car in the hotel lot a short walk down the street, we were set.

The hotel had direction signs once you entred chartres, which helped to get you to their valet parking area easily. We would not have driven this way.
The staff were very helpful. They put up with my poor French with courtesy, but had impeccable English when my language skills failed.

We arrived from the US at the Charles de Gaulle airport and drove to Chartres after an all night flight. The hotel was welcoming and provided plenty of comfort, privacy and a quiet atmosphere.
The rooms were immaculate in cleanliness and in decoration. The beds were very comfortable and the ambience was sumptuous. A tray of cafe au lait brought to my room in the early am was a special treat and worthy of a photograph. My first of the trip.

Room 110 bath very difficult for the elderly to use.Room 109 extremely noisey weekdays, above hotel bins and opposite bottle bank!!!!!! wardrobe had sliding doors which were difficult to use, if staying longer would have asked to move room.

Hotel cannot be blamed for all the building work going on around it at the moment, but one of the two rooms we had was very smoky, the sheets and towels in both room smelt strongly of tobacco smoke and the children's bed that was set up for our youngest was so old as to be unusable. Disappointing overall for a Best Western Hotel.

You currently have extensive street works outside. We were not advised of this. Our drive to you was 7 hours plus 50 minutes trying to find you. It was a long day. Please arrange more signage to help find you. Otherwise you have a beautiful hotel in grand city which we will want to visit again one day. Tell us when the works have finished.

I took a luxury single room and was very happy with it. The hotel is very nice and the staff helpful. The only drawback is that the square (place Epars) oustide is till a massive area of roadworks. It is unsightly and forces a frustracting detour in walking from the hotel to the centre of town. Hopefully it will be finished some time this summer (2005)

As of July 2004, major building work is taking place in the place des Epars - although this did not disturb us in our room, it does spoil the appearance of the area around this nice old hotel - the building work is scheduled to continue for over 1 year!

It was unfortunate that the square outside was under archealogical dig conditions and huge road building works were ongoing. The hotel did their best to help by parking the car etc but some warning of the state of the town would have been nice
