double room
The hotel offers modern single and double rooms, all of which feature an integrated bathroom with hairdryer.
Instead of solid walls, light curtains afford both privacy and openness. The special room design offers a completely new hotel experience. The open atmosphere created by the floor to ceiling and wall to wall windows, and the integrated bathroom, provide a wonderful sense of freedom.
The guestrooms are furthermore equipped with CD/DVD player, Internet access, air-conditioning, mini bar, safe, telephone and flatscreen-cable TV. Non-smoking rooms and 5 double rooms equipped for disabled guests are available upon request.

The room is fashion and has a modern and clean design, but could be more "friendly" to the guest: the front window (it is a "panoramic wall")occuping all the front of the room and this put on exposition the guest. To avoid this it is necessary to "adjust" (NOT EASY)every day the curtains

This was a very nice hotel. Staff was friendly and helpful. The rooms were modern in design, well appointed, spacious and clean. The location of the hotel is perfect for visiting the museums on museum island as well as the large variety of restaurants and bars nearby in the evening. There is a U-bahn stop right around the making it extremely convenient. Overall a very enjoyable stay.

The room was very nice with a 'proper' bathroom. We had requested a 'quite' room which was allocated to the rear, but even with the windows closed on the Sat. night we did hear a certain amount of noise. Otherwise we had a lovely stay in Berlin. This hotel is close to the Sban and the Uban.

very good structure in the central part of
town "Mitte" I suggest it to everyone who wants to visit Berlin in a few days owing to
the several public services ( U-Bahn - Bus
Strassenbahn ans S-Bahn)
I don't like very much the surrounding areas(very noisy) Employees extremely kind with many suggestions about the town

Very friendly staff. I am a frequent Hotel quest. Often the service is "cold" professional. Here the service is Friendly, helpful AND professional (Positively surprised!)
Very nice place for Berlin Cultural Happenings - Not the official standard Potsdammer Platz stuff - But an alternative scene and a lot of good restaurants for a very moderate price.
We visited the Blue Men Group at the Potsdammer Platz and we were astonished about the freezer atmosphrere (at 25C Temp ..) surrounding this "well known" place. Arriving at the Hotel we came in the middle of a very living street and stayed for hours instead of hitting the bed .

Nice hotel, big rooms with acommodating design. Very friendly staff. Situated in central Berlin between the areas "City Centre" and "Prenzlauer Berg". Only downside: quite loud outside hotel all night long. And it is not a cheap hotel.
Nevertheless:enjoyed the stay.

The hotel is excellent in almost any respect. The design of rooms is special, going beyond traditional boring, the quitness of rooms, the centrality, and easy access from the hotel to Berlin with public transportation. The view to the busy and "athentic" street (although one should be prepared to the prostitutes bugging men walking in this street).
The only issue we had is regarding service. In the reception there is a huge poster inviting for a breakfast at 12.5 Euros. When we checked-out, we had to pay 15. Why? We were told that in one of the leaf letters inside the room, it is explained that you get this price only if ordering a day in advance. The poster did not say anything like that. This is very unprofessional to begin with. It is even more unprofessional to continue to argue with us, while refusing to charge the published price.
Still, we would stay at this wonderful hotel despite this unpleasant service. Perhaps next time we will be ready for a “third-world” mentality in advance.

Arcotel Velvet is well positioned in the Mitte district offering guests easy access (by foot or S-bahn)to numerous top tourist attractions.
The interior decor is great if you enjoy 'designer' hotel accommodation...full height street-facing glazed wall in some rooms and a bathroom that dissolves into the room without a dividing wall all adds to the visitor experience. Quality Thai restaurant opposite.

Extremely well situated for transport, restaurants, cafes, etc. - and especially for the main museums on Museuminsel, the Arcotel Velvet turned out to be an excellent choice. The reception staff could not have been more helpful and cheerful. There was a mistake over the number of nights in our booking (not their fault) and they sorted it out immediately. We had a second-floor room at the front (overlooking Oranienburgerstrasse) but, although the double-glazing cut the traffic noise to a minimum, we were awakened around 3.00 am by revellers emerging from the Tacheles complex next door. Next day we asked for a room at the rear, which was arranged without difficulty, and this proved to be very tranquil. The facilities were excellent (the free broadband access in the bar was very useful), although we didn't sample the breakfast, preferring to use the nearby cafes (usually "Ambulance", next door). Our second (rear-facing) room had no bathtub, just a (large and very efficient!) shower, but this was not a problem for us. All in all, we were very impressed - especially by the warm welcome and unfailingly cheerful service - and would definitely return to this superbly situated and well-run hotel.

We loved this hotel. It was in the center of things, fun and a wonderfully friendly and knowledgeable staff. It was handy to transportation, galleries and the wonderful energy of Berlin. The room was wonderfully appointed and the full glass window connected you to the street feeling part of Berlin every moment.

A very good place to stay in Berlin. Nice, clean and good quality modern hotel in the night most popular (and not dangerous) part of the town with lots of restaurants (a little noise late at wednsday night). The lounge bar of the hotel is quite nice. Underground and bus stops in front of the hotel. Museums just a short 5 minutes walk. I like that hotel!

Komme gerne wieder.

The room was spacious, modern, and very well put together with high quality bedding (sheets, pillows, and comforter were all very nice). The location is perfect, with dozens of inexpensive yet hip restaurants and bars lining the street (we liked the bar "O & G" for late night and the Indonesian restaurant Mirchi, both directly across the street from the Arcotel). There is a subway stop less than a block away that can connect you to all parts of the city (although we walked to a lot of the sights too). The perfect place to stay in Berlin.

Excellent hotel, conveniently situated for central sites, and close to U-bahn line out to Tegel Airport. Rooms cleverly furnished, impeccable and, despite having one wall entirely of window, extremely well insulated for sound and heat. A simply brilliant shower area. Wide choice of restaurants nearby, and even all-night kebab emporium opposite. What else could you want?

The hotel is very trendy and modern, located in a very lively area. The only remark I would like to make is that the room service at night does not exist which is very annoying when traveling and arriving late at night.
Overall highly recommended.

This is a nice hotel in a good location within easy walking distance of main tourist attractions and central shopping areas. Staff were friendly enough, but wouldn't go out of their way to be accommodating.
The hotel facilities are excellent. Rooms were clean and proper and relatively spacious, beds were comfortable and bathroom spotless. Bar area is comfortable and relaxing with free internet access.
Overall, and particularly in terms of value for money, this is an excellent hotel.

Travelled the last weekend in November. The location is excellent; just yards from the U6-UBahn and good restaurants straight across the road. Two bakeries near by so no problem popping over to get 'breakfast on the go'. €3.50 for 2 crossants and 2 teas is much cheaper than in Dublin. Friendly staff and the room was ideal for 2 people. Lovely and warm inside (freezing and snowing outside). Excellent trip overall.

Very well located and calm.
Personel was professional and always helpful.
Rooms were reasonably spacious and modern.
Excellent bed but pillows could be better.
Very modern bathroom area.
Price/quality was quite interesting for the area (110 Euros but no breakfast).
Breakfast was somewhat expensive (15 Euros per person) but we guess that this is the typical method for any hotel to partially make up for the reduced income due to the internet method booking.
Despite the 15 Euros, breakfast was quite good and also abundant. Avoid it and get a coffee outside only if you eat very little in the morning ...

The rooms are impressive at first view, but not very practical. You can't control either TV or DVD from the bed because of viewing angle, there was no room number on the door of the room ( 616) the price is high and everything is extra, like breakfast ( something that should be printerd on the print out , and something that should be said when checking in. I was not informed at check in , and was told the breakfast times, I assumed that this meant breakfast was included and was surprised at check out that had to pay 15 Euro for a breakfast, that I could have had much better food and much more friendly staff if I had just crossed the street. Only when I returned home and looked at the web site did I see that breakfast was not included, in small print at a not very obvious place on the web site. I think that you should make these things clear.
For the price I would have given up on DVD and think that if a hotel is goind High tech then what about a coffee maker in the room!!
ON the same trip I stayed at the comfort Auberge and it was Far ahead of vELVET IN FRIENDLENESS, VALUE FOR MONEY AND SERVICE, i KNOW THAT ON MY NEXT TRIP WILL not BE AT vELVET

We stayed in the loft suite and it was wonderful. Hotel is well situated, lots of restaurants, activity on the street. Yet the rooms were quiet. Very spacious, clean, attractive. Breakfast and parking were extra.

Would have given note Excellent if not for the following minor deficiencies:
1. No parking in front of hotel; not even temporarily.
2. No one to help with the suitcases of an elderly couple.
3. Hotel's Parking garage out of service or not in use.
4. Nearest public parking lot is 5 - 7 minutes away.

After being charged 55 euros(about 65 USA dollars) for a very precariously placed wooden vase on the reception desk ledge that was accidently knocked over when signing in, it was hard to feel a warm welcome at the hotel. The front desk staff was cold and rigid and made me feel as if I had done this on purpose.

This hotel isn't cheap but its very well located to Berlin's main attractions. Both Alexander Platz and Museum Island are well within walking distance. The Reichstag and the Brandenburg Gate are a very short subway ride, which is also cheap and easy to take.
The hotel is very clean and run very efficiently. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.
You'll find that this hotel is situation near a large number of restaurants as well as a very fun and interesting beach located across the river from the museum island.
