As a young married couple looking for a cheap, but not poor quality, hotel for a long weekend adventuring in Berlin.
This fit expectations perfectly - the room was huge, spotlessly clean, and it was so quiet that until the second day we wondered if we were the only people staying in the hotel!
The staff were polite and always present at the front desk.
Breakfast deserves a special mention - a large selection of very good quality simple breakfast food kept well topped up.
The location is very good - one minute from the nearest U-Bahn station and so very quick to get into more central areas. There are nearby tram stops as well.
By day the area is very quiet and seems quite down-trodden but there are some interesting little shops and brilliant graffiti murals in the area. By night the whole block 5 minutes' walk to the west/south-west comes alive as a thriving district of bars and restaurants, perfect for bar-hopping. A short walk/tram ride south of the river will take you to the more underground and up-and coming district with a rough art scene, though if you're not with by someone who knows Berlin well you'll probably miss the gems there.
It is not a beautiful hotel in a beautiful area - it is a simple place that does its job well as a good value base to explore one of the best bar districts of East Berlin and to quickly get into the city centre.

We had a lovely stay at the Agon. We booked in January 08 when the price was 94euros for a double room with bed and breakfast and then discoved when we arrived that the price had dropped to 54euros per night. We didn't manage to negotiate a reduction. However we still got good value for money and would highly recommend this hotel. Situated one street back from Frankfurter Allee which is a huge main street leading to Karl Marx Allee which leads right down to the Bradenburgh Gate it was in an exellent location. Very close to the Ubhan. Check out Dadaz on finowstr - a tatto cafe bar close by. We played music there with some of the locals and it was great!!

We were very happy with this booking. A very nice hotel where quality exceeded price without a doubt. Easy to get from the hotel to the center by subway. The breakfast buffet is worth mentioning with a wide range of different offerings. Undoubtedly we'll stay here again. :)

Excellent service - friendly and helpful staff. We stayed there for 3 nights - one single and one double room. The single room was just as big as the double - and bigger than indicated on the web. The neighbourhood is excellent old east Berlin - lots of cheap and nice places to eat and drink in Friedrichshain - off the tourist track!

Totalmente recomendable.

Nice, nice hotel, esp. for the money. Service was prompt & friendly. Scrupulously clean; comfortable mattress (warning: the pillow was far too thin), quiet (room 007). Really nice breakfast with cold-cuts, boiled eggs, cereal, breads, juice, coffee & tea. CONVENIENT!! Just a few steps away from the Samariterstrasse U-Bahn stop (on the U-5). My favourite hotel so far in Berlin. Don't let the grafitti in the neighbourhood put you off; it's eastern Berlin after all and that's why the prices are so reasonable. Neighbourhood otherwise is neat and functioning. It's closer to the U-bahn terminal than the Web site map would have you believe. Just turn right as you get off the U-5 from Alexanderplatz and go straight up the stairs; turn right at the top of the stairs and go to the first cross street; turn left and it's the hotel on the left, about 20 metres. I'll definitely stay here again. May bring my own pillow next time, though.

We stayed at the hotel for 5 nights and we were very impressed with the quality of the room, it's spaciousness and the pleasant ambience of the hotel. Our room was situated in an annexe across the courtyard from the main hotel and was very quite. The breakfast was very generous and we liked the free internet desk in the foyer. The hotel is situated in an average east Berlin area one block from the U bahn which is on the main street of Franfurterallee. The surrounding streets are a little down at heel with a lot of grafitti but we did not find them threatening. We enjoyed our stay at the Agon and we would certainly stay there again.

The area our hotel was located in was fine, not a lot there but the German transport system was on par with the French making the city easy to navigate.
The breakfast which was in with the price price was plentiful and varied and extremely tasty.
The hotel itself was very clean, well decorated, equiped with a very adequate lift and operated by competent and friendly staff.
Overall Berlin itself provided a very pleasant stay.

The hotel is very well situated, close to public transport and the staff was very friendy. On the first evening I even got a free cup of tea with honey for my sore throat! The rooms are small, but practical and clean. Breakfast is excellent (buffet with lots of choice). I can definitely recommend this hotel for a weekend break in beautiful Berlin!

The AGON Frankfurter Allee is a wonderful hotel, with large, clean rooms, a terrific breakfast, free internet in the lobby and is located in a fascinating area of Berlin. Our only suggestion for improvement, and an important one, is that larger (and more) pillows be provided on the bed.

Hotel was very nice, certainly much better than I had expected for that price. Crisp, clean, modern look, the room (single) small, but absolutely adequate, personnel exceptionally friendly. Secure parking available at only 5 Euros, very nice breakfast buffet. Would definitely stay there again.

Nice enough Hotel. Was ideal for where we needed to be in Berlin. We were fortunate enough to see round some of the other rooms which were fairly large and well kitted out. Unfortunately the one we got was an end room which made a Travelodge seem like a suite!

There was some confusion on arrival, as the rooms booked through venere.com were not available and the receptionist had to find other rooms, necessitating an upgrade. The hotel also charged my credit card with transactions that were not mine, although they moved swiftly to rectify this, as soon as I informed them of the error, after my return home.
Overall, however, I found the hotel clean and the staff welcoming and would gladly return.

Though not in central Mitte, the hotel is only a short ride away and offers easy walking to cafes, restarants etc on Simon-Dach Strasse and the surrounding areas. The breakfast was very good and the room was clean and comfortable. Also there is one computer in the lobby that offers free Internet access. We had specified non-smoking and were a bit dismayed to be put in a smoking first-floor room and told the hotel was fully booked so we could not be moved. Also one of the windows in our room was broken so airing the room out was not as easy as we would have liked. That said, the noise from the street was not bad at all (though I should qualify that we live in NYC) and the room was very spacious and the bed comfortable. For the price, the AGON Frankfurter Allee is a great choice and we were very happy with it. I would not hesitate to stay there again.

My girlfriend and I stayed it this hotel for 4 days. The hotel was perfect for us, nice breakfast, clean rooms, nice staff etc...We completely fell in love with the area, it's a sort of "lower east-side"(NY) and "Camden" (London) kind of area, except a bit more quite. Ask the receptionist were to go when you arrive!

The surroundings are not very nice especially during the night, better not walk alone. But it is near Underground and tram stop.
Room was clean and big bathroom, price was really good and we had a great time there.
