Stayed in a double room, that was actually just 2 single beds pushed together with 2 blankets. Not very romamtic. Oh and dont ask for any help for reception if you dont want to be sighed at. A good point is the free bus/tram travel provided. A big help.

Loud car traffic and street trams, poor ventilation/no air conditioning, no iron/ironing board available. I will certainly look for somewhere else to stay next time.

This is a perfect place to stay during any of the Basel fairs - it's located on the Messeplatz itself. Other hotels with such location in Basel are only the breathtaking Ramada Plaza and Sofitel - but both being 5 star hotels are beyond the reach for most people. The Muenchnerhof is pretty basic, but Swiss-clean, almost sterile. Rooms are quite spacious, fubrishing plain, bathroom modern and spotlessly clean. The person at the reception counter was a wonderful Italian girl, very helpful and warm. I'd say this is one of the best places to stay in Basel in this price range (I paid 116 CHF). In front of the hotel there are 2 tram stops and the central Basel can be reached in around 6/7 minutes.

I found the Muenchnerhof to be a very pleasant hotel, very friendly staff, with a nice restaurant, excellent breakfast service, very clean, basic rooms.The hotel is in a good location, very close to all public transportation.
