The hotel is a new construction, it beautiful all glass exterior. We were on the 10th FL facing the main street(quite room with central air, TV, and fridge), from our room i could see the Sacred Family church, and other cool sites. There is new state-of-the-art mall across the street, the bus and trem stops are across the street as well. The beach is aprox. 4-5 blocks south, and the metro is aprox. 5 blocks west (10min train ride to La Rambla).
The location is excellent, everything closed late(10pm-12am,1am). There is about 40 resturants, and 100 shops within a 3 block radius. I also remembered an all you can eat buffet nearby. The only negatives were the late checkin time (1pm), no free breakfast, and the it was difficult finding the hotel especially with our heavy luggages, but it was worth it. It was hard to find the hotel because we took the metro which dropped us off next to a highway off ramp. We looked up the hotel in a local directory and found out that it has a 3-4 star rating, for what we paid it was a steal. We reccomend it to all our friends and family.

Exelent location if you do not mind staying 6 blocks from the beach.
I will stay there again, close to a major shopping area and 4 blocks from a metro station.
Rooms were clean and all services at the hotel very nice.
La Sagrada Familia is about 15 minutes walking. The hotel is 2 blocks from the Agbar tower. Next to the subway (metro) station there is a very big flea market.
Only advice: Do not ask the hotel to call you a taxi cab, the driver will overcharge you, it seems that the driver will give a commision to the hotel employees.

We spent 2 nights at this hotel. Staff could not speak English very well and could well be advised to offer a smile or two to make guests feel welcome, instead of talking among themselves while guests wait at the desk. They were not very forthcoming with information, could not tell me where I could cash travellers cheques, apart from not at the hotel. Ended up in city bank. Room on the 9th floor with pleasant view of Ave Diagonal. Room was just as shown on website, large and extremely clean and modern. Two kingsize singles together - comfortable but pillows very firm. Heated towel rail for drying items (great in winter and wet weather). 15 minute stroll down pedestrian promenade to beach. Raining early in day so took a cab to the city for bus tour of all sights. Never used public transport. Breakfast was ample with good range for various tastes but a bit rich at 15 Euro each. Breakfast staff were excellent. Required to pay for stay on arrival. I had to alter my stay from 3 to 2 days and as I had to cancel with Venere and rebook, the rate had increased by 10 Euro per night for same dates! I would not return.

Honnestly , the general overview of this hotel is good in general , but i saw that the team of this hotel is not very engaged in the welcoming of the customers . the worst moment that we spent in this hotel is on the 1 january at 9:00 am after one night outside for the new year , was to be woke up by the sound of a very loud vacum and as well the screamings of the housemaids .
Also if you are french do not expect to be understand ... people are just speaking spanish and some times english . Hopefully we are french fluently speaking spanish and english .
For the geographic situation of this hotel , we were very happy to be there because it is very close from the city center . The parking is 15 euros by day not inclued in the price , and the breakfast is as well not inclued.

We were shocked to find that people in the next room to us had been offered a $30 price LOWER than ours. That left us with a bad feeling, obviously. They also booked thru Venere so I don't know how this happened unlesss they booked much later than we did and the hotel found it was empty and needed to fill them.

Everything was very good, except for quietness of the rooms. I could hear the music playing in the hall 24/7 and the people in the next room having conversations and sex. I did not like that at all.

This is our 2nd stay at the Amrey and won't be our last. Both times have been above average, the first time we were in room 901, a corner room with so much space. This time we were in room 1008, this was smaller, but adequate space for 2 people. The only downside is that breakfast isn't included in the price, we must have been lucky first time round to have it included, but this time we didn't and it cost 13 euros pp, so make sure you pile you plate of the lovely meats and cheese, bacon, eggs, fruit and pastries. The Glories shopping centre and train are 5 mins away, but its just nice to be away from the hustle and noise of the centre. This is our 6th time to Barcelona and the Amrey has been the best hotel yet, we will definately stay here again.

The hotel Amrey Diagonal is a great modern hotel for those who like to visit the action but don’t want to be stay in it! This is the second hotel we booked on Venere and again we were totally satisfied with our choice. I would recommend the hotel for those who like to walk around and explore a city but if you have limited mobility you might want to stay a little closer to the action.

Great hotel for the price (compared to the rest of Europre though). Nice rooms. This was the nicest hotel we stayed in throughout Europe within our sub $100 Euro budget. It is a little far away from the main tourist area ie. you need to catch a tram but even taxis are really cheap ie. 5-7 euro down to the waterfront area. Nice restuarants in walking distance as well as the beach

My wife and I stayed at the Amrey Diagonal for 4 nights in early October 2007. Having been warned that Barcelona is a noisy city, we wanted somewhere quiet - bliss! This hotel is new and located away from the main sightseeing areas - but the tram stops just outside and the Metro is only a few hundred metres away - these are inexpensive, safe and really easy to use. The hotel staff mostly spoke good english and were very helpful. The breakfast buffet has a comprehensive selection of hot and cold fare, but at 13 euro is not good value if all you want is a croissant and coffee - there are better places across the road. The rooms were clean and spacious and the room rate included use of the room safe. There are many good eateries within easy walking distance.

The hotel is modern with well equipped rooms & is very clean. Exceptional value through your site. Only hiccup price of breakfast. You quoted €9.5 & the actual price was €13.5 but on pointing this out to the "manager" we were charged at your rate. No hassle & very polite about it.

We needed a place to stay for one night on a Friday night during the MERCE Festival at the end of September and we found the Amrey.
For the price we paid, I must admit I was very impressed with this hotel! We have stayed at the Hilton Diagonal the following day and the Amrey is just as luxurious in my view!
Its location is closer to the downtown and it is just across a very nice Mall with lots of stores. Also the Diagonal is a very nice street to walk and we felt very safe. It is close to a Metro station.
We would highly recommend the Amrey to anytone that wish to really see Barcelona on foot.

The hotel location is very good, metro is 10min walking and tram is at 2min, bus N°7 as a stop near the hotel. Employees speaks english&french, welcoming was very good. The ONLY bad thing is THE NOISE between 9AM - 11am, its awfull!! Cleanning employees dont have any respect for clients who are sleeping!! We stayed there 4days, I've always been awake at 10am!

The room and the whole hotel is beautiful, modern, clean for a decent price. It is easy to find it and the staff is really helpful. We had a nice view facing the main road - we could also see the towers of Sagrada Familia on the side - still it was silent inside our room. I have just 2 small negative comments - one is that the breakfast is not included in the price of the room and is comparably very expensive (13 Euro/person/night) the other is that we had to pay for our stay on the arrival - it was strange, I never experienced such a thing before, also I travel a lot on business and on hoildays. Anyway, I would recommend it to anyone.

Sparklingly clean, modern hotel. rooms excellent, good views from 9th floor. reception staff friendly and helpful, giving useful information. an easy bus ride to the centre, buy a ten journey ticket.disappointing meal in restaurant, good fresh salad for starter, tough undercooked, largely inedible lamb for main course, maybe we were unlucky. pleasant area for an evening stroll, plenty bars, shops restaurants, but fairly quiet.would recommend.

Location on Avenida Diagonal is not quiet, but over night not too strong.
Stop of Transport near of the house. Shopping & Restaurants on "Ramblas Poble nou" - beginning at the hotel.
Ramblas is ending at the sea (1,5 km - and near of the Olympic Marina (2,5 km) - beautiful.
We will come back a.s.a.p.

Well I was dubious when I read the previous reviews but chose this hotel for its price/location in Barcelona and the reviews I had read. I am pleased to say that my research was well worth it in finding this marvellous hotel. Located near the Glories Metro, just a few hundred metres walk down the lovely central promenade of Ave Diagonal. The staff were extremely helpful and fluent English speakers, the rooms were immaculate with excellant facilities and the breakfast was perfect with excellent service and a good choice of fresh continental food. Combine this with a fantastic low price and location (a few metro stops from La Rambla and Sagrada Familia) this hotel is a must for any traveller to Barcelona.

Overall experience was good. The hotel was still a 5 minute walk ( very quickly) from the local metro. The room next door to ours was very noisy one night, the hotel staff appeared to act as quickly as they could to rectify the situation.

What a pleasant surprise. Tremendus value for money at 91 euro/night for a double room. Staff very helpful. Airco. Good and reasonably priced restaurant. Breakfast way to expensive for what you get, but that is the only negative comment. Well situated between city centre and cconvention center(20m walk). Tram&bus 2m, metro 10m, city centre 60m walk. Area is redevellopping old heavy industry site, building of houses and offices still in full swing. Some old factory buildings are restored and converted to flats. Near prominent & striking landmark Torro Agbar, especially at night. Streetside rooms a bit noisy because of nearby fire brigade, did not really bother us. The Avda Diagonal and Rambla Poblenau (hotel exit left) are very pleasant strolling area's with lots of simple but good restaurants/bars. Several times during the week interesting flea market near pl. Glories.
We would have no reservations at all of coming back here.

Stayed here for 3 nights and found this to be one of the better hotels on our 3 month trip. Sure, it's a business hotel and it has no personality, but when it's done this good; who cares. The rooms are huge and immaculately clean with hardwood floors, a huge bathroom - very nice! The location is excellent as well, easy to get to by car as it is on a huge diagonal road (though the road isn't busy). The neighbourhood is awesome, with tons of little stores, cafes and restaurants. The beach is a 15min walk away through a cool pedestrian street that gives off lots of Spanish personality. The breakfast for 6 euros was huge and delicious. They know what they are doing at this hotel. Most of the staff speak english which helps, although they are only average on the friendly scale. I would definitely return here, for the price, you can't beat this hotel.

Bell'hotel, pulito e moderno

Amrey Diagonal exceeded my expectations, price and quality was very well balanced. It was my first time I stayed in this hotel. Only drawback was its location. It is 10-15 minutes away from the metro station and it is not close to the night life (port olimpic and mare magnum). Metro in Barcelona closes at 02:00 after midnight. As a result it becomes difficult to return back to the hotel after this hour. Taxi costs apporixmately 7 Euros from these ports to the hotel.

Albergo consigliato.

Great hotel. Very clean. Very comfortable, with stylish rooms and fittings. Fast check-in and check-out. It's only one minute from the nearest tram stop, which will take you into the centre of Barcelona (20 mins). Or go two stops and take a metro to any part of the city. This is a top class hotel and good value. It's not in the centre of the city, but Barcelona's excellent transport system takes care of that. Highly recommended.

Great, newly built hotel close to the city center. 3 stops from Catalunya by Metro at Glories. From the metro you walk like 8-9 minutes to get to the hotel at a nice neighbourhood on the Diagonal. 20 minutes walk to the seaside from Pobleneu.
Clean room and bath. Highly Recommended for Price / Quality. It was 60€ for us per room/night. Staff hardly speaks English but who can in Spain anyway :)
