nice hotel, not as much noise as I was prepared for, friendly and competent staff, good location, nice quarter. The bar neighbouring the hotel is nice and sufficient for breakfast (as it was not included in our stay). quick wifi everywhere.

Desk attention on arrival (morning staff) was disagreeable, in contrast with the pleasent attention from the rest (specially the evening people). There is no reason for not paying regard to the imsge

The location is good. The employees are kind. And the breakfast is OK. BUT the big problem is the noise which comes from the streets and also from the neighbouring rooms. There is no sound isolation between the rooms and it is impossible to sleep even if your neighbours are talking normally!

Excellent service from staff. Room and facilities very clean, bed very comfortable. Room small but certainly adequate. Bathroom large. Location in a nice, quiet neighborhood with lots of restaurants and shops nearby. Taxi stand just across the street was convenient for us as we had to make our way to the port. And we could walk to the Familia Segrada. My only negative was that air conditioning seemed to be off or not operating at capacity. it was a warm spring day and I found the interior to be a bit humid. But that is my only negative. Perhaps they only turn on the air conditioning during the summer season.

I am already an easy sleeper but my friend and I still find the hotel could be quite noisy indeed! Poor sound insulation, you can hear doors closing, people talking next door. We live on the fourth floor next to the lift and you can really hear the noise every time the lift door open/closes. Noise on streets, really like staying in a city! On two consecutive nights we have heard some kind of maintenance trucks operating in the small hours of the day! Friendly staff and great location though with good choice of eateries nearby. Clean bathrooms. TV only operated on the first night but without visual for the other nights despite we have asked the staff to check it for us. If you are looking for mind relaxation holidays, better try others since staying here might really remind you so much that you are staying in a metropolitan city!

Very Good Hotel but rather noisy if you have a street facing room. Good bus connections. Nearby Metro and good cafe next door. Nice area and handy for the Sagrada. Very helpful desk staff.

I was delighted with this smallish, immaculate hotel with the most helpful staff. Helpful because I had a mishap just before I arrived and the young women at the desk provided good advice and help. My single room was small, but well laid out and designed. Although breakfast was not provided, there was a small neighborhood cafe next door which had a good breakfast menu. The metro was close by as were a selection of restaurants. I would definitely recommend this hotel to those who prefer service to size and the ambience of the Spanish neighborhood to the bustle of "downtown".

This is a fab hotel. The rooms were clean and we got fresh towels every day! It is very close to Sagarada Familia and only a short walk to the Metro Hospital Sant Pau. As breakfast is not included we went to Pans Company down the road, which has excellent baguettes and coffee. Very nice, quiet area. Our balcony was across from a residential home, so we waved to the old people in their wheel chairs every morning. Room even had a radio playing every morning. Bad thing? Walls are a bit thin, but that is it. We had a beautiful stay. Big plus that the staff spoke English. This hotel has everthing you need. Enjoy it! If you are used to the Hilton this will not be for you, but if you need an upgrade from noisy hostels and pensions, this is definitely for you.

The air condition was not working. When bringing this to the staff's attention they informed me that this is normal for winter time. However there is need for ventilation all year round. Since the room faces a street with a lot of traffic and late night noises/shouts it was not possible to sleep with an open window. Besides this, the staff was very friendly and gave effective service. However, I can only recommend this hotel for the summer time when the AC is on.

L'hotel si trova a 5 minuti a piedi dalla sagrada familia e dalla fermata della metro. Buon rapporto qualità prezzo (siamo stati lì in febbraio). Personale gentilissimo. Camere pulite anche se piccoline.

This hotel was in a great location considering the price we paid. It is located right off of Gaudi Avenue, which leads directly to the Sagrada Familia. (Be sure to climb the towers of the Sagrada Familia...we went at sunset, and the views were spectacular!!) There is a metro station less than five minutes away from the hotel (and a good bakery next to it...starts with an F). Most tourist attractions are within only 6 metro stops. The neighborhood is nice and quiet, but the building's plumbing and elevator equipment can be heard in the rooms. It never woke us up, but if you're a light sleeper it's something to consider. The hotel staff was great and very informative when answering our questions.

The reception staff here are lovely and very helpful. The hotel is basic but nice; a bit far away from the tourist area. Very close to metro though. We took 2 rooms on the 6th Floor, one of which had a nice large terrace (in december - but still great). One drawback - there was a lot of noise in the hotel; at night the lift went until the small hours and the cleaners starting shifting beds too early.

Unfortunately, the rooms on the 6th floor are near to the lift machinery and the noise from this could be heard at all times throughout the night and early hours of the morning. If you need a good nights' sleep, make sure you don't get a room on the top floor! The 6th floor must be accessed via spiral stairs, as the lift only goes up to the 5th floor! Also some of the other guests were very noisy during the night. However, hotel staff were excellent and breakfast at your accompanying hotel nearly was very good value for money. Fitting a shelf in the bathrooms for your clients' use would be recommended - there is nowhere to put things like shaving equipment, toothbrushes, cosmetics, etc. in the bathrooms.

The poor rating has nothing to do with the room (which, in my opinion, was quite good). The staff of this hotel is what earned it this rating. I originally had a reservation for 12 nights, and had emailed them 4 days in advance that I would be arriving one day late, and so my reservation should be changed to 11 nights. However, despite telling them this and showing them the email, they claimed they never received it and repeatedly tried to force me to sign a credit card receipt for the extra night.

Medicis is good value for money if you want a hotel in near Segrada Familia Church. The rooms where clean and the staff friendly. The only two things we weren't satisfied with during the whole stay of four days was that they seemed to be upgrading a few of the rooms higher up in the building fairley early in the morning (about 7:30 am). The second was that we where given the wrond directions for the reception staff when we where going to Montzerat. Something that made us loose our intended train. The internet in reception didn't work either. All in all the stay was plesent. Airconditioned rooms and friendly staff.

Enjoyed my stay at the Medici. It is very accessible to the Sagrada Familia and the neighborhood surrounding the hotel is a nice place to explore with interesting boutiques and cafes with reasonable prices. The room was clean, and the staff was courteous and helpful. My only minor issue with the single room that overlooked the street was the sirens of passing ambulances on the way to nearby Hospital Sant Pau. But it didn't disturb my sleep very much.

A nice little place, very modern, you should not expect a big hotel lobby and a piano player,... indeed, it is very good value for the money.

This hotel is very clean and well maintained. They have free internet service, and you can have a continental breakfast billed to your room for 6 euros from 7:30 until 11:30 am. It's in the NW corner of Barcelona in a section called Gracia. It's a bit of a hike to La Ramblas, and other central parts of the city, but there is a Metro stop only 2 blocks away, and this will allow you to transfer anywhere. It's a quick walk to La Sagrada Famila, and Hospital Sant Pau, yet it's situated out of the super touristy areas, and so you feel like you're really in a Catalan neighborhood, as opposed to if you stayed in a hotel near Port Olympic, or Las Ramblas. It's safe too! Book at least a double if you can afford it because a single may feel a little claustrophobic.

My second stay. An unasuming business hotel on the edge of the Eixample. Clean modern. Nothing special but o.k. for a reasonably priced place to sleep. A bit far from my office so wasn't my first choice. Also a bit out of the way for the tourist except its near Hospital Sant Pau & 10 minutes walk to Sagrada Familia. Plenty of local bars and near Sant Pau metro.

HOW TO REACH THE HOTEL

By airplane
From Barcelona-El Prat airport, take train L10 (Aeroport-Barcelona-Estació de França) in the RENFE Train Station and get off at the Sants stop. Once there, take the underground L5 and get off at Hospital San Pau stop. The hotel is situated within walking distance from there.
Another option could be taking a taxi from the airport's taxi stand. It will cost you about €20,00 (take into consideration that the price can vary depending on the amount of luggage you are carrying).

By ferry
Walk to the underground station Drassanes, and take the green line (L3) to Canyelles/Zona Universitària and get off at the Diagonal stop. Once there, change to L5 and get off at Hospital Sant Pau stop. The hotel is within walking distance from there.
