I have been in Barcelona many times, this hotel totally lacked charm and could have been any where in the world. The hotel room was not the same as the photograph, it was smaller, so I do not feel that the venere deal gave value for money. The rooms were not sound proof and we could clearly hear the t.v from the next room

The hotel lacks characater and is much too expensive given the limited degree of luxury; when I had my wallet stolen from me and I advised a member of the staff on reception he dismissively threw a spare room key at me and walked away from me. My fiance had a hundred Euros stolen in cash from our room in the hotel and despite taking numerous details from her on the incident there was NO follow-up from the staff and very little empathy or sympathy which was very disappointing.

Just a short walk from Las Ramblas, this 5 star hotel was wonderful, quiet, and high quality. We had a great view of the city and Marina. It is very contemporary in furnishings.I would definitely stay here again.

Excellent location only a few minutes from the Ramblas. Top class hotel with first class service. The rooms at the front of the hotel can be a little noisy with the drone from the cruise ships engines which berth along side the hotel.

A 5 star grand luxe hotel a little out of the way on the pier, but a short taxi ride away from the center. Excellent helpful English speaking employess. At the low rate given through Venere an excellent value, at full rack rate ok. As with all top properties, food nd beverage in the hotel are expensive, although the buffet breakfast is excellent.

Myself and my daughter travelled alone to Barcelona. The hotel was just as described, although if your visit is for shopping it is a little way out from the shops, and I would advise using transport, taxis and the bus service run from outside the hotel. The staff were very helpful, especially the concierge, who gave advice on where to eat outside the hotel, which areas to visit and avoid and our personal safety. The driver who took us to the airport, and carried our bags to the check-in was also very efficient and attentative. This hotel is to be commended, we were made to feel very safe and could not have had any better service.
I would use this hotel again if I was to return to Barcelona.

The Grand Marina Hotel was the perfect base for our stay in Barcelona. The view from our room easily spanned the city of Barcelona with towers of The Sagrada Familia dominating the skyline. If you visit the Grand Hotel when the weather is hot - the same stunning view is available from the small roof top swimming pool

The accomodation is first class, and the staff excellent; fantastic place to stay.
One major complaint; I arrived at the Hotel to find that there was no reservation, despite the Venere website informing me that it was Status OK.
As it turned out, the hotel were able to accomodate me. I have marked down the competence of employees, as I was in touch with the concierge prior to arriving at the hotel; at no point did they advise that there was an issue with the booking.

The trip to Barcelona was very pleasant and interesting and with the quailty of the Hotel with it's position, it made for a superb visit. The staff were very friendly, helpful and always willing to offer advice about the city and places to visit. The service, food and general domeanur of the Hotel was top quality and I would strongly recommend a visit for anyone who would like that extra special element to there stay. Prices were not cheap but the value for money was definitely good.

Overall very good, there are a few small items that it is worth any future users being aware of:
1. Breakfast is not included. With a room price around 200 Euros per night the extra 48 Euros seemed to be a little over the top.
2. Small bottle of red wine on the side in the room (not in the mini bar) gave the impression it was complimentary as befitting a 5-star hotel. Was charged at 10 euros each - seemed a little expensive.
3. There seemed to be numerous corporate functions on at the hotel during the day and evening which seemed to overpower the private user particularly in the bar in the evening and in the restaurant at breakfast times.
4. It is a spectacular setting, from the pictures on the web site you don't appreciate that the hotel is not all of the building pictured - the other three sides of the site are business facilities. There is therefore virtually no sea view which was a little misleading.

The location and comfort and spaciousness of the rooms were the key attractions. Reception and bar staff were friendly and helpful... but beware the restaurant. When we gave our room number there, we were looked at suspiciously and told "Impossible" - no apology was forthcoming when the error was discovered - hardly five star service! We spoke to the manager and were refunded the cost of the meal.
Despite that lapse, we would stay again in the future.

We really enjoited our stay in Barcelona. Hotel + services excellent. We were upgrated by the manager to a junior suite. The only remark I have is about the bathroom not verry clean, behind the sliding door.

A lovely clean, spacious hotel... We were, though, under the mistaken impression that we would be able to have a sea-view, which is not possible due to the large office block in front of the hotel. Despite having requested a sea-view in our reservation, we were not informed that this was not possible. We (and our teenagers) were also most disappointed that the pool was out of order for our entire stay (we were originally told it should be repaired by the second day..). This was the main reason for us choosing this hotel in the heat of August, and also what we thought would be fair compensation for the inconvenience of being quite a distance away from the main attractions of the city, and the extra expense of the accommodation. Otherwise a very high class hotel, with one of the tourist busses conveniently stopping just a few metres outside the entrance.

It is a good hotel with nice rooms and a good service. Unfortunately, we were misinformed about the sport facilities. The pool is nothing more than and extended bathtub. The fitness room was more like a corridor to get to the terrass of the topfloor. It was not air-conditioned. Pretty hopeless.

The hotel is located within walking distance from Las Ramblas, where you will find the Liceu theatre and La Boqueria market.
Furthermore, it is worth going for a stroll to this lively avenue and reach in 15 minutes on foot the Gothic quarter, the cathedral and Plaça Catalunya. |
