In Burgundy, the “Parc des Maréchaux” a delightful hotel of character with 25 rooms, practically in the heart of Auxerre, is a preserve of gentle tranquillity, a true haven of peace, surrounded by hundred-year-old trees in a vast garden.
The architects of Napoleon III didn’t know that some of their beautiful private mansions were to end up as hotels …
Practically in the heart of Auxerre The ‘Parc des Maréchaux’ with its gentle tranquillity and surrounded by the hundred-year-old trees of the vast garden, is a veritable haven of peace.
There is now a bar beneath the Victorian mouldings in each of the stylish lounges.

This hotel cost a little more than I thought I should be paying in Auxerre, but compared to others in the same price class, it was worth it. The hotel is pleasantly situated, a little on the outskirts of the central town, with a large garden. The rooms were clean, pleasant, and quiet, and the staff welcoming without being over-attentive. Since I have to have one complaint, 12 Euros for a continental breakfast seems much too expensive. Fortunately, it is easy enough to walk to town and do much better. If you don't mind standing up, the Monoprix about 500 meters away has 2 croissants and instant coffee for 2 Euros, otherwise any other cafe will do just as well. If you haven't seen Auxerre, it is one of the most beautiful, most historic, and best-preserved towns in France, beautifully situated on the banks of the Yonne.

The setting of the hotel was fantastic - beautiful gardens and an old world charm interior.

Spent delightful 3 night stay in superior room in this pleasant hotel 0.5 Km outside town centre in residential area. Experienced some traffic noise from our room facing main road into town - ask for room overlooking extensive garden at rear. Hotel has no restaurant but provides excellent buffet breakfast. Off road parking. Manager and staff friendly and speak English.

the hotel was reasonably well situated about 5 minutes from the town centre. the rooms were comfortable with air conditioning. there was some cofusion about restraunt facilities as there was a evening meal menu posted outside the hotel and in the lift. but when we requested a table we were told there was no restaurant. Breakfast was not included in the price and was very expensive for what we got.

A family with 2 adults and 2 children. A charming place with friendly personnel. I can recommend this place to anyone travelling in France and Auxerre. This was absolutely a high-light among the hotels when we were travelling in France during one week from Riviera to Paris. We will surely be back there. in the future.

Old fashioned French charm but with all mod cons. The shady gardens were a lush cool green oasis on a hot and sticky day and the swimming pool was delightful. Breakfast on the terrace was very civilized. On the down side, the rooms were a bit cramped.

Our room had a sewer gas backup at 3 a.m.!! They said they'd had prob. in Feb., and had it fixed, but it came back just the night we stayed there. They gave us a free breakfast and deducted 15% for the room. The hotel was completely booked or they would have moved us. Other than that, it was just fine.

This hotel was probably the best hotel we stayed in during our stay in France this trip. We would definitely stay there again. The Staff were excellemt and the air-con quiet, as were the other guests. If you need peace and tranquility then go to this Parc.

As this was the only hotel that could accomodate my 3 children, I was pleased to be able to stay without having to book 2 rooms! Very comfortable (especially after a long drive). On return visit, a cot was provided which made it easier to sleep with one less in the bed! Lovely city for a stop-over.
