I was on a business trip but had some spare time for visiting: the area between the hotel and the Acropolis is fantastic. No traffic at all (probably the only quiet area in the center of Athens), plenty of small restaurants and carachteristc shops. Very relaxing!

We realize that Athens is a noisy city, but we did feel the sound insulation in the hotel wasn't very good, even between rooms. Ear plugs took care of the problem at night. Otherwise it was great, especially the location and the rooftop deck.

We got what we paid for. Location was great and the room was as expected. Very small bathrooms but this is quite normal in large European cities. The roof top terrace was great! Overall, we were happy with the Plaka Hotel.

The Hotel Plaka appears to be an oasis in the middle of the mish mash of streets that surround the Monastiraki area. The staff are very helpful and pleasant, the rooms, on the two times we have stayed, were of a medium size with shower room attached. Breakfast was good. The icing on the cake for us though was the views of the Acropolis, from the south facing rooms and the roof terrace was nothing short of breathtaking. Sitting on the terrace on a clear summer's evening as the sun sets you can take in a 360 degree vista of Athens. Very beautiful. Would stay there again? most definitely. One word of warning though. If you come in from the airport by taxi though, provide the driver with a map, as the rabbit warren of streets can cause some confusion

The room was quite, comfortable, and clean. A little dated, but not unexpected. If you want to explore the ruins this is a great spot to start from. Close to shopping, metro, restaurants, etc....
