| Plaka, the Athens district in which AVA hotel is situated, is full of stone-paved, narrow streets, making you feel like you are travelling back in time. This is Athens oldest and, thanks to the restoration efforts which went into its buildings in recent years, most picturesque neighbourhood. You will be delighted by the beauty of the neo-classical colours of its houses, their architecture, their lovingly tended little gardens, the elegance, and the total atmosphere of the area. When you decide to take a walk around it be sure to bring a map along, because Plaka is a labyrinth and you may get the feeling that you are lost in its maze of narrow streets and alley ways. No need for alarm though. It is easy to orientate yourself: uphill is the Acropolis and downhill are Syntagma square and Monastiraki. |

AVA is a lovely hotel just next to Plaka district in Athens. Its staff is very friendly and polite. They were quite helpful. We told them we are honeymooning couples and they gave us a champagne bottle free aswell as upgraded our apartment free of cost. Hotel is small and lovely and definitely I would come back and stay at AVA only during my next trip to Athens.

Staff are wonderful and cater to your every need. The rooms and beds are very comfortable.
It is a small hotel with limited facilities (no pool or recreation facilities), but if you want a great place in the center of the plaka and historical center. This is the place to stay. We had a great time.

Extremely convenient location for visiting the most popular sites. Accommodating staff upgraded us (because I had requested a room with a view) from a triple to an executive suite that became available (at no extra charge). My husband, adult daughter, and I enjoyed the spaciousness and kitchen facilities--allowing us to prepare our own breakfast. We only stayed one night in this hotel (of 4 nights spent in Athens) because of the price. We were surprised to find the beds sloppily made at this caliber/price of hotel but the room did appear clean. We enjoyed our stay but would probably not return to this hotel because of the price. Athens center is easy enough to get around in without having to stay in such a prime location (unless you mind walking and/or using Athens' terrific METRO system).

We stayed in one of the suites. Although it cannot be called a luxury it was spacious, clean and with all the amenities to make our stay comfortable. It had a large balcony which was such a delight to sit in when the sun was out. Staff were courteous, welcoming and very helpful. As for the location my comment is just like any other review you read about this hotel - simply unique. I would definitely stay at AVA on my next visit to Athens.

My partner and I stayed at the AVA Hotel for three days before our cruise and one day after our cruise. The location was perfect! Several buildings up the street from Hadrian's Arch and several buildings away from the main shopping street in the Plaka. The staff were all extremely welcoming, helpful, and friendly. We stayed in a very large first floor room that had a large quite patio perfect for smokers. Breakfast was quite good the perfect start for a day of sightseeing. Our room was on the back side of the hotel and was very quiet so I had no problems sleeping. The staff made dinner reservations for us and got us taxi cabs in a moments notice. I would definately stay here again!

The location of this hotel is excellent, within walking distance to major attractions and on a quiet street. The room was spacious and comfortable, and the staff especially knowledgable and helpful. We had a very nice breakfast there, and there are some good restaurants and cafes nearby

We rented an apartment for three people and had a comfortable stay. The hotel looked fairly new and we were able to walk to all nearby attractions. It is a ways away from the main shopping area, but closer to the ruins. It was quiet at night, which was nice after a long plane ride.

The AVA Hotel is amazing. My family was delighted to go to the balcony and see the Acropolis on the right side, and Hadrian's Arch on the left. The rooms are very spacious and clean. The Plaka restaurants and shops are just a few steps away. It was a wonderful experience for my family, and we would definitely stay there again.

A very well situated hotel; just off the Plaka (five minutes from room to a taverna under the walls of the Acropolis). I only stayed for two nights so didn't use the kitchenette for cooking, but this would be an asset for anyone who was would be staying longer. I can throughly recommend this hotel for a stay in athens.

What a great place to stay for a first time visit to Athens. The rooms (we stayed in an Executive Apartment)was one of the largest I have seen anywhere, especially in Europe. It had a large bedroom, living room, kitchenette and a small patio where we would drag a couple chairs to when having our morning coffee. The bathroom was big enough to hold a small bed. The king size bed was typical european, 2 twins on a platform that kept seperating during the night.
Right in Plaka, you see the temple of Zeus and the Acropolis (well a very small part of it ,the Parthenon can not be seen at all, so do not be disappointed). The hotel is near a fairly busy street, but we were there on the weekend, so the noise was not bad. Being in Plaka, there were plenty of restaurants and shops within walking distance. You can skip breakfast at the hotel and walk into Plaka for breakfast at 1/2 the price.
As all the sights in Athens are spread out, the location was neither good nor bad in that respect. We took a taxi from the airport, so we can not comment on the metro, although we hear it is good. If you want great taxi and limo service, look for George the famous taxi driver on the web.

Staff were very helpful and pleasant. However, out of three wake-up calls, only two were on time, with one being 20 minutes late and one thirty minutes late. Other than this, all was good. There were three of us in a triple and while the third bed could have been better, our 17 yr. old gramdson didn't seem to mind. Great location and good value.

The staff of the hotel was excellent!!! I would recomend it to all my friends that wish to visit Athens. Although, of course, there were some minor problems in the begining, they were all solved and the staying there was great. I will definetly come back

The location is fantastic! A direct shot from the airport on the metro. A nice, pleasant 5 minute walk to the nearest metro stop. Close to shopping at the Plaka, the shops of Ermu, and a nice walk to the Psiri. The staff was very helpful and their hospitality was terrific! They went above and beyond to make sure that our stay was good! I would definitely go back and stay there! The suite was spacious and had a gorgeous view!

This hotel was excellent. Superb location right under the Acropolis. It was the most expensive place we stayed in our 6 week trip in Europe so you obviously get what you pay for! The rooms were like palaces and we stayed on the ground floor - so we got an outdoor courtyard. The staff were so friendly and helpful which was a refreshing change in a rude, aggressive city such as Athens.

My family and I found the Ava Apartments and it's staff very accommodating in all aspects. The location is perfect - close to the Plaka area and within walking distance to just about everything. Beautiful, spacious rooms and at very reasonable prices. We would highly recommend the Ava and would definately stay again next time we travel to Athens.

Very well located in the Plaka close to Hadrian's arch and walking distance to the Acropolis. The staff spoke good English and were welcoming and very helpful. We had an executive apartment in which my family were very comfortable especially appreciating the free internet access. This excellent hotel contributed significantly to our very enjoyable stay in Athens.

I'm responding on behalf of my parents. They had a lovely stay, and commented that this is a 5 star establishment. They thought the walk from Syntagma Square to the hotel was longer than stated on the website (which they informed the hotel) but nevertheless they thought the hotel was in an excellent location and would highly recommend it to everyone considering a trip to Athens. Eleni, George and Olympia were amongst the hospitable staff that my parents encountered who made their stay extra special.

The staff at the AVA hotel in Athens were friendly, helpful and professional and the rooms were excellent value for their large size and comfort. The hotel location is perfect for being in the heart of the Plaka restaurant area and only a short walk away from the Acropolis. I will certainly book into this hotel on my next visit to Athens.

This hotel is in a nice location in the small street that goes to Hadrian's Arch; the Akropolis metro station is just near.We stayed in w/e of 18 nov. and it was quiet around. It has very spacious rooms, clean and modern, with little kitchen. ADSL connection included (other hotels in athens may charge around 20 eur/day for that). Staff is kind and willing to help you. Price/Quality ratio is fine even if breakfast is not included.

We had a fantastic week staying in an apartment in this hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful and the room was clean and attractive (and very well sound proofed, we didn't hear the other guests whilst we were there). We found smallkitchen area really useful as it allowed us to go to the food market and try our hand at a spot of cooking. Even if you don't fancy that, being able to have a plate to eat your bread and cheese off (and somewhere to wash up after)is very useful! I would definitely recommend this hotel to otehr guests.

A very quiet and comfortable hotel perfectly situated on the edge of the Plaka area of Athens. Very friendly staff. Very clean. My husband felt that the level of services available was insufficient for the prices charged eg no bar, no room service. However I felt that the prices were justified by the position and that you don't need a bar or room service when you are surrounded by all the bars and restaurants of the Plaka! We had a lovely stay and would recommend it to friends who want to visit an exciting city but stay in a quiet position.

We found the Ava Hotel a real find. Our suite was spacious, with kitchenette, living room, huge bedroom, two balcony doors and wonderful view off double balcony. There was noise from the street below because the hotel is in the heart of the Plaka District so a lot of people walk there towards the Acropolis and the shopping district. This did not bother us and just made our stay more exciting because we were within walking distance from everything we wanted to see and do. Hotel staff were friendly and very helpful and we felt we had a home away from home. We would highly recommend this hotel. This is where we would stay if we came back to Athens.

Location was paramount. Also very clean, quiet, etc. I screwed up one of window blinds because I couldn't figure out how to close it.
Only suggestion for improvement would be changing your directions on the website. You say you are across from Hadrian's Arch. I went there and then went up and down the street along the other side of the arch to no avail. You are actually 30 meters up the street running away from Hadrian's Arch and towards the Acropolis. Big difference. Fortunately my wife suggested I try that route.
Overall, however, everything else was excellent.

The hotel was very well placed, just a short stroll from Hadrian's Arch and the Temple of Olympian Zeus. The Acropolis could be seen from the balcony of our room, and again was just a short walk away. The Acropolis Metro station is about a 5 minute walk in the same direction as the Acropolis. There are an abundance of good restaurants within about a 2-3 minute walk of the hotel. All in all, it is ideally placed for the major attractions and tourist areas.
The room itself was large (executive suite), with a very comfortable bed and good pillows. The bathroom was spotless and very plush, although without a bath, just a shower.

The staff at Ava is tremendous. Eleni was the staff member that checked us in and was so very helpful in recommending restaurants and things to do in the area. We truly felt welcomed at Ava and our hosts were so gracious to us while we stayed there on our honeymoon. This is a great hotel and once the roof bar and pool is complete it will be even better to have the view of the Acropolis and Zeus' Temple from the roof. We highly recommend this hotel to anyone that wants to stay in the vicinity of the Plaka.

We absolutely loved Plaka (the region of Athens where this hotel is located) and we loved this hotel. The rooms were extremely clean and nice and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The location cannot be beat. It is in walking distance of the acropolis and the temple of zeus and many many wonderful restaurants. The only complaint I would have about the hotel is the fact that they charge 10 euro for the continental breakfast. I wouldn't advise dropping the money for this because we found a few restaurants nearby the served amazing breakfast (wonderful omelets, yogurt with honey, fresh-squeezed OJ) for much less. I would highly recommend visiting Athens and the AVA Hotel is the place to stay!

We loved our stay at Ava Hotel. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful ! The rooms were very spacious and we had a huge balcony with views to the acropolis! The hotel is situated right in the Plaka area. Its a perfect spot for sightseeing, shopping and restaurants. At the end of the road you can catch a bus which stops at all the main tourist sights around Athens! WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL!

AVA Hotel is a great value deal. Apart from its reasonable prices, the best points are its location just off the historic Plaka district (which means that almost everything of interest is within walking distance, including the Acropolis and Agora), its friendly and very helpful staff and its spacious and very functional rooms. This modern boutique hotel also offers complimentary ADSL Internet access, which is great for business travellers -- so bring your laptops if you plan on using the Internet a lot. Also, if you can, get a deluxe room as these are wonderfully finished, spacious and very comfortable.
I would certainly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a good and centrally located hotel.
