We had a wonderful three day stay at the hotel and it was very nice.It was very clean and newly renovated. The bathrooms were beautiful. All marble and very large. We had two rooms and both bathrooms were different but equally nice.I have read the other reviews and yes there are junkies in the pedestrian walk area between the hotel and the Archialogical museum, but only one reviewer mentioned the police. As soon as the sun starts set and even while it is still light out there were always apprx.5 policemen standing in the street and very visable. They were all right at the corner of the hotel. Our car was parked there for four days and nobody ever bothered us or the car.Even though the druggies were a drawback, the policeman more than made up for it.The breakfast was large and more than plentiful. We always left full. The coffee was excellent. As long as you get there at least 45 minutes before the breakfast closing there was never a problem getting a seat. We would laugh as the late risers would race down the stairs 10 minutes before closing(including our late rising children)and struggle for a place to sit.The facility looks bran new inside and is very well maintained. The staff were always helpful and nice. They even helped us carry our massive luggage up the stairs as the elevator up the first flight of stairs was not working. They even allowed us to keep our car parked outside the hotel after we checked out as we walked around Athens enjoying one last day there. The hotel is located very closely to a lot of restraunts. There are many to choose from and we went to a different one every night just for fun. It is about a 20 min walk to the Platka. Sometimes it felt a little farther, but it was hot out and August. Our children are ages 15,10and7 and they were able to keep up just fine.We even managed to make it to the beach for a swim one evening and still made it back in time to shower and eat dinner.Everything was still open @10pm. We would defintaly stay here again!

Conveniently located immediately behind the National Archaeological Museum and 10 minutes walk from two underground train stations. Included full breakfast was most welcome. though the chef could have done better with the eggs and bacon. Front desk service was cheerful and helpful.

An excellent hotel - great value for money. It is very clean, friendly and the staff are very helpful. I didn't take too much notice of the area the hotel was located in as I was staying with my boyfriend, so I felt quite safe. But I would not recommend it for a woman staying on her own due to the location - many homeless, drug users. I didn't let this spoil my stay. I would certainly stay there again. Close to shops, restaurants, cafe bars etc.

The smell of smoke in the room hit you as soon as you went into the room. The english speaking channels on the satellite TV didn't work and the shower room was so small that flooding the bathroom was inevitable as soon as you switched on the shower

The hotel locates quite a distance to either metro stations(Omonia and Victoria). In fact it is better served by trolley trams and buses, I supposed you would have to go this way when you first arrived. It is quite convenient to use the trams and buses and it's a good way to see Athens as you go.
The director of Best Western - Emmanouil is a gem for hospitality and what one would expect from the Service Industry. Very warm, helpful which made our stay very welcoming, assuring and hands-on in the hotel. He is more than makeup for the short coming of one of their concierge during our stay. Overall, the staffs are adequate and nice.
The location of the hotel is equivalent to that of Tottenham Court Road which was surrounded by computers and mobile phone shops. The area is safe as it is right next to the National Archaeology Museum and Polytechnic, there are always policemen around.
Very convenient to eat out and shops.

Very nice hotel with big and clean rooms, very comfortable bathroom and a little balcony.
The metro is near the hotel, historical centre about 20 minutes by feet.
We will return to this hotel our next stay in athens.

We booked a suite and that was a slight exaggeration. The street along the very nice museum park was occupied by homeless people. It was not so nice to walk along it at night. Except for that the hotel was situated perfect for our purposes.

This was the tale of two hotels. We stayed here one night on our way in from the states and then again on the way out. The first night was not bad, but the room was dark and cramped. At the end of our trip, we were put in a room in what appeared to be a renovated section and the room was spacious and airy. The front desk was always very helpful. We liked the location. A bit of a walk to Plaka but an interesting quieter neighborhood.

The room was very quiet, which is luxury in Athens. Nevertheless it was quite small, but since I booked it as single room I didn`t mind. The shower had a curtain, but it was nearly impossible to take a shower without flodding the bathroom floor. The hotel staff was very friendly, everything was clean and it was very good quality for a reasonable price.

We had a short 3 nights stay at Best Wester Museum Hotel in Athens. We arrived at about 4AM as our plane landed at night, and the Recepcionist was absolutely friendly at that time. However, there was no sign of the free welcome drink promised on the website of the hotel. The room was OK, with large bolcony at corner of the building. Unfortunately it was implssible to sleep at night with open windows because of the noise. The passage that leads to the losest main street (28th October str) was full of homelesses and the whole neighbourhood seemed to be a bit dangerous, however, we had no problem on our walk back to the hotel at the middle of the night. Some recepcionists had a little problem with their English. We had a nice stay at this hotel in Athens, but the overall experience was a little bit away from our expectations, but this was mainly due to the feelings of the city of Athens and no the Hotel itself.

Very nice hotel for quality vs. price. Very closed to the city center (10 min. walking)and to the metro and bus. I suggest it. Only pay attention to go across the garden in front of the Archeological Museum, it is full of junkies.

The hotel is very well managed. It is really clean and quiet. The air-conditioning facility, which is an essential part of the surrounding, was very good. The breakfast was very nutritious and offers many items. It is good value for money. The location is a bit dim at night and gives an impression that it is deserted, where as within 5 minuets walk there are many good restaurants, bars and cafes. The one thing that I find inconvenient was the fact that their Pay TV channels are almost mixed with the Adult channels as you would have to go through the same screens to obtain either. The channels are centrally controlled by the hotel group and the local management cannot stop the stream of the film, once it is selected. This is very important for families with children. They promised to look into that when I complained about it.

Good hotel, clean and modern. Very nice welcome and assistance from reception.
Quite a walk to Plaka etc.. but can be done , part of it is pedestrian.
Nice rooms, very clean.
Breakfast ok, but like usual in Greece (and Italy), fresk orange juice and fresh fruits are missing.
Overall good price/quality balance

We went to this hotel twice, the first time having booked it through this site, the secont one at the end of our stay in Greece, without previous booking. The first time we got a very nice room on top floor, with a terrace; In the second case we anyway got a good room at the same price as for the first Internet reservation. Mr. Ilias, at the desk, remembered us from our first stay; he was very kind and competent for any question.

The surroundings of the Best Western Museum Hotel are not reccomandable! In the area near the Archaeological Museum there are a lot of junkies! It's a dangerous place. Moreover we found a cockroach between the sheets! No one was able to change our sheets and we were told that "It happens to find cockroachs...". We did not receive any kind of apology and we had to sleep on towels!

We arrive very late at night and the welcoming was excellent. The room was clean. The breakfast was good. As we don't use the A/C, we slept with the window opened and it was a little noisy.
I recommend this hotel

The only thing I wasn't thrilled with was the location, since it was a bit away from the Plaka. Even so, it was next to the big museum and was walkable or accessible by metro to the Plaka and most major sites. It was a very nice hotel, clean, very full breakfast buffet, nicely renovated.

Excellent facility and staff. My room was modern, very clean, and extremely quiet. While the area south of the hotel is somewhat rundown, the area north towards the Victoria underground station was very pleasant. There is a large, child friendly park located two blocks east of the Victoria underground station and a smaller park [not child oriented] just west of the station. Eating in those areas was much more relaxed than the tourist-packed Plaka. The area around the hotel is heavily patrolled in the evening due to the proximity to the museum, technical university, and a nearby government building. The website should add that the hotel is located on the intersection at the southeast, rear corner of the museum.

The hotel is on the back side of the archeological museum and just a 30 min walk from the Akropolis. On the direkt way to the Akropolis you can visit the old central market which is an experience on it's own and you pass through the Plaka area. The hotel neighborhood is interesting, lots of shops and restaurants and obviously safe, despite few homeless people. I can recommend to investigate the city by foot. For people who prefer public transportation, the Metro is just 10 min away. Finally, the breakfast is reasonable, we enjoyed it. Altogether a wonderful 4 day stay in Athens for our entire family (3 children 12-16).

The Hotel is very near to the National Museum but a bit far away from the Acropolis and the Plaka. The room was clean, the view out of the window not very interessting. A strange smell in the room could only be eliminated by the airconditioning.

Great location, right across from the National Archeological Museum. Reasonably easy Metro access. The staff is very welcoming, and the rooms (we had a four person suite) were newly renovated and very comfortable. An excellent choice for a visit to Athens.

The area around the museum is like much of the rest of the city dirty and run down. The hotel however was a nice clean retreat with typical European sized rooms. The nearest Metro stop is about a ten minute walk so take a reasonably priced taxi (about 3,50 Euro per person) when you're hauling your luggage. There is an easy train from the airport to the the city center.
The hotel staff was very accomodating in helping us to schedule tours and other events. It was nice to be able to leave our luggage in the secure storage room as we ventured off to an island for a couple of days.
The breakfast was tasty with a nice variety of hot and cold food. We also appreciated the use of the computers and the internet.
This was our first trip to Athens and would consider staying a bit closer to the city center next time.

Location is central to the Museum but not to the city. The next metro station can be accessed by a walk of about 10 minutes. The walk to the city takes about half an hour. Two blocks away is a nice square with several bars (ask the porter how to get there).
The breakfast room is too small for the size of the hotel. Therefore people always wait in line in front of the buffet and although the ladies are rushing to fill up everything you sometimes have to wait some minutes for your breakfast.

This is the best hotel we stayed at during our 2 month long trip. The staff was very helpful and the facilities were of an excellent standard. Being able to use the hotel computers and having free internet access was also a great bonus. The location is central but the room was quiet. It's a shame we couldn't stay longer

It took hours to find, even with a navigation system. Parking was terrible, and even though we ended up parking in full view of the front desk, our car was burglarized. The neighborhood is filthy and crime ridden. The police are also indifferent to foreigners. The staff, however provide excellent service.

Wahrscheinlich mit das Beste, das man für den Preis in Athen bekommen kann.
Lage: sehr gut (ziemlich zentral, aber total ruhig, Nationalmuseum um die Ecke).
