My wife & I really enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Palazzo. The Hotel was right in town, we really felt like we were part of the town and all that was happening during the Easter weekend. The Friday night procession went right in front of our Hotel. The Hotel personel were very friendly and accomadating. The building was fantasitic. There are many steps to climb so people who would have a problem with many steps should not stay.

Such a beautiful hotel...run like a friendly, cozy B&B. The staff were amazing and warm and our room's view had an incredible vista of Umbria.

At first quite difficult to locate even with GPS. You have to get a windshield pass from the police to bring your car into the old part of Assisi. Parking is quite a distance, possibly 1km from the hotel. The hotel resides in a very old and comfortable building in the very center of the ancient part of town. Very close to shopping, dining, and the basilica.

Venere confirmed my reservation although there was no room available at Il Palazzo. The owner phoned round Assisi (no rooms) so offered me a room in their private residence! I was alarmed that Venere could err like this. I am rating the Il Palazzo room that became available.

The thing is we were the only guests at the hotel and we did not get the best room, or the one shown in pictures. At E 130 per night I don´t thing it was a marketing-oriented move... the room was nice, but quite small. No mini-bar which is quite a pain when you drink the marvellous red wine from Umbria at dinner. In fact we got the keys from the front door as we were alone in the building. On the other hand: perfect location and excellent breakfast. We´d stay there again, but we feel the experience could have been better.

Il Palazzo is a lovely little hotel in Assisi. The desk clerk was extremely friendly, helpful and booked us a terrific restaurant for dinner. The nature of Assisi requires climbing hills and lot's of walking. THe hotel is no different. There is no elevator and this hotel would not be ideal for those who are unable to climb stairs. The reward for climbing those stairs, however, is a fabulous view of the valley below.

unfortunatelly we had a nice room but on 3 floor and no elevator

Great location, and our room was one with a marvelous view over the entire valley below Assisi. The only caveat is that people should expect stairs, and more stairs. Rooms are on the first floor above the ground or more - ours was three flights up, no lift. There are steps up into bathrooms, down into rooms, etc. Not surprising in an old palazzo like this one, but be prepared.

Assisi is peaceful and very charming in all aspects. I was a bit late in arriving however the service provided was completely friendly and inviting. The room was perfect. I am planning another trip and will again stay with this hotel. I am sure it will be just as enjoyable.

Since we were biking, we had a few extra needs they attended to nicely. The location close to the basilica was handy. Though on a main strada, our room was quiet enough.

The staff was especially gracious and helpful. We felt very welcome. We were allowed to check out an hour late. Possibly more toilet paper should be supplied. Otherwise, we loved our stay.

One thing to improve : cleanliness of the room. Good situation, between the Basilica of St. Francis and the Main Square with restaurants and boutiques. Superb wiew from the windows. Beaucoup de caractère à ce petit hôtel qui est un ancien palais.

WE ENJOYED BEING IN SUCH A CENTRAL LOCATION. BEAUTIFUL VIEWS FROM OUR ROOM OVERLOOKING THE CITY AND VALLEY BELOW. HOTEL IS A BIT TIRED AND NO LIFT IS A BIG DISADVANTAGE IF YOU HAVE HEAVY BAGS.

I ran out of hot water in the shower and the water pressure was poor. But otherwise the stay was excellent

The room was infested with little red spider mites. while the bathroom adn bed was clean, the bugs gave the place an overall sense of beign dirty. I would not stay there again.

Our room overlooked the valley below and was beautiful. Spacious, large bed, old world setting, breakfast was the best we have had for "Italian breakfasts"! After walking the hills of Assisi we enjoyed a bottle of wine in their courtyard, it seemed as tho we were the only ones in the whole place. The English receptionist was extremely helpful with all our dinner, bus, train etc questions. The mini fridge was also nice. This hotel was like staying in a large old home, we loved it.

The hotel ambiance and view were FABULOUS, however, the bed was VERY uncomfortable - a slanted, saggy, soft mattress. Also the toilet was very inconveniently placed, cramped behind the sink(!), and the shower doors were rickety plastic and fell out of their grooves!! All said, though, the environment of the town was SUPERB!!!

This is a gem, difficulty in finding our way around Assisi to the hotel - but one could not ask for anything better.

Experienced fabulous view over Assisi from our room; no less marvellous was the sunset over that dream city. Location of hotel could hardly have been better. There were a couple of unexpected faults in the bathroom (loud air extractor, shower door broken, toilet seat loose)

Ideal location, walking distance to the churches and shrines. Welcoming and competent staff. Fabulous view. Minor problems with the plumbing. Good breakfast.

No air conditioning in room. The view out the window was as beatiful as it was scary. I got vertigo each time I approached within one foot of the window. There was a forty foot drop out that door/window to the street below separated by a flimsy guard. Structurally the room that face the street need to be recessed and a balcony need to be built for each of these rooms. The shower was noisy. There was no window to the outside in the our bath. Realizing the age of the building, putting an outside window for each bathroom may be impossible. Build fewer rooms, with more square footage, a balcony and an outside window for each bathroom. We would not return to that hotel, for all its medieval charm.

Room was great but there was a lot of steps (no elevator) to get to room. After walking uphill to get to hotel we were exhausted! Map of hotel didn't say what was the best bus stop to get off was.

An ideal location in Assisi. Our room was bright and cheerful and the view outstanding. Bathroom amenities and consistent water temperature control needs a little work. Wonderful staff and, overall, a delightful stay.

An excellent hotel with all the charm of Assisi outside and within its walls. Hotel personnel were extremely and sincerely pleasant. In return for a spacious and quiet room, a climb of over 60 staircase steps was required..rather a test for any septuagenarians! Just no place for an elevator. Breakfast room excellent..same for affiliated restaurant next door. Hope to visit Il Palazzo again.
