exceptionally well-located, intimate hotel with loads of great shopping, restaurants, museums and trams all within short walking distance. Very professional, friendly and helpful staff. The only issue that arose was that housekeeping had left our door open all day one day, though fortunately nothing was missing. We would definitely stay here again.
We've also been consistently happy with Venere.com recommendations.

I stayed in a single room, that was the size of a cupboard. However, it was very recently renovated and very clean. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom very modern and appliances brand new. Some rooms are in the basement and are not great - there's not much air circulation and smoke from the lounge filters in at night, which is a problem. It is impossible to leave the window open on the ground level for safety reasons. The upstairs rooms are wonderful with very high ceilings, fresh air, flat screen TVs and brand new bathrooms. There are a bunch of computers in the lounge with high speed internet that are for everyone to use. Hotel is on a very quiet side street next to a park, which I heard could be a safety concern, otherwise the location is excellent. It is within a 2 minute walk from the Van Gogh museum and Rijksmuseum. The nearest tram stop is a 2 minute walk away and it would take about 30 min to walk to the Centraal Station (10 minutes by tram).

good location, next to Vondel Park, close to Leidse Plein (5min) and Museums (10min to Van Gogh). Red light district about 30 minutes walk. As with most other hotels in the centre of Amsterdam, there is no parking which adds another 20-30 euro per day. nice lounge, straight forward staff, comfortable room like on the picture, not too large.

Great hotel, particularly for the price. Nice rooms, good location fairly close to Leidsplien.
The only minor negative points we found were that the room was very cold when we had been gone for the whole day. When we questioned this we were told that the Heating "switches off automatically". Not really a great answer when its cold outside!
The other point was that we got drinks from the bar and brought them to the room, but the empties were left in the room for a few days.
HOWEVER - these were minor things and we found the hotel to be great overall, and would definitely return.

Very good cost performance, though the room (single business room) was quite compact - in that sense, quite nautical. The public spaces are quite stylish actually. Location is good, across from the park and one block from a very posh shopping area.

The Piet Hein was a wonderful place to stay. The breakfast was bountiful and the service at the small and cozy hotel bar was excellent. The rooms were small (by American standards) but more than adequate. The wireless internet to the rooms could be improved but there were ample stations for use otherwise. The location was right around the corner from the Van Gough Museum and just a few minutes ride from the central station. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

Everything was ok. The hotel is in a very nice area in front of a park, near all the museums (Rijksmuseum closed until 2009!). We found a little mouse in the room! But they gave us a new one at once.
Free internet access in the reception.
Breakfast not tested :-9

IT WAS VERY EXPENSIVE AND THE ROOM WASN'T LIKE THE ROOM FROM THE PICTURE. IT WAS SMALL BUT VERY CLEAN. THE BED WAS VERY COMFORTABLE. MAYBE FOR THE SAME PRICE YOU CAN HAVE A BETTER ROOM. THE HALL WAS RENEWED AND IT IS VERY BEAUTIFUL.
THE BREAKFAST WAS ABUNDANT AND LOTS OF DIFFERENTS THINGS TO CHOOSE

Hotel situato in una bellissima zona con musei e negozi di lusso. Ottimamente collegato grazie ai tram distanto 80/100 mt. Personale qualificato, stanza piccola ed essenziale, prezzo elevato, internet wifi gratis, ottimo servizio

The staff was very friendly and helpful.
The hotel is convenient to the Concertgebouw and Van Gogh Museum. The neighborhood is quiet, but it is close to the center. There is a nice park, Vondel Park, just across the street.

Very nice hotel. I enjoyed the lobby with comfortable bar and areas for free internet access. Hotel location is good for both museums as well as walking to Liedesplein. Be warned, booking via Venere or other sites not the hotels own excludes you from breakfast. However, the hotel's site showed no availability but Venere did.

We enjoyed our stay, the property is beautiful, much more welcoming than a major chain hotel. The staff were friendly and they had a lovely bar/lounge area where you could access the internet which is very handy when you are traveling. It was a little noisy, and unfortunately there was a fire drill in the middle of the night that woke us up.....this was apparently due to one of the guests smoking in their room. Whilst I understand that there is not alot the hotel can do about it, I think it would be a good idea to offer your guests a complimentary drink or breakfast where a major disruption occurs (fire trucks turned up etc). Appart from that, the hotel is in a fantastic location, the staff are friendly, the ammenities good and I would stay there again.

LA HABITACIÓN ESTABA BIEN AUNQUE ESTABAN DE OBRAS PERO ME PARECE PRECIO EXCESIVO PARA LA RELACIÓN CALIDAD-PRECIO PUES ESTÁ EN EL "BARRIO SALAMANCA" DE AMSTERDAM (DETRÁS ESTÁN TODAS LAS FIRMAS DE ROPA).
LO PEOR EL RUIDO DE LAS DUCHAS Y CADENAS DE OTROS BAÑOS CONTIGUOS. SOLO POR ESO, NO SÉ SI REPETIRÍA.
DE TODOS MODOS, SEGURAMENTE, NO HAY MUCHAS OFERTAS MEJORES NI MÁS CERCA NI CON MÁS CALIDAD, POR LO QUE HE VISTO ALLÍ.

The apt. was so clean you could eat off of the floor. There were only a few problems: the Apt. was 6 floors up without an elevator and we had 3 large suitcases to carry up and down. The table was too small for 4 people and the master bed matress was a little old and soft. Other then that the cooking facilities were great and we saved a lot of money making breakfast and dinner there. The U-bahn station was only a block away as was the grocery store. I would recommend this apt. to a couple or small family since there is only one small real bedroom and some mattresses for the livingroom floor. The decor was so modern and cute!

Good, clean, modern hotel. Room provided everything you need - comfy bed and clean bathroom. Stayed 4 nights. Nice bar area although on one evening we thought service was a little slow. Reception staff welcoming and spoke good English.
Location of hotel handy for museum quarter and tram links to other areas of city, including Centraal Station.
A very enjoyable stay - thank you!

We arrived at Amsterdam 7am and the hotel was so kind to have offered an early check-in. So we can take a quick nap and shower before heading out (as the flight from HK to Ams was over 10 hours).
The free Wi-Fi connection at the hotel lobby was excellent, really at no cost. If the access can also be made to the rooms, that would be fantastic. (cos we failed to do it in the room upstairs, guess the hotel blocked the access to rooms). The lift was small, but big enough to fit in two large suitcases and the two of us.
We had the room with a little terrace, so that's cool! The receptionists are nice and speak good english and are helpful. The beer at the lobby lounge was cheap and fresh. Though the room was small, it was already better that what I thought. The neighborhood was great, right besides Vondel Park, quiet but clost to the high-fashion shopping street.
The only improvement would be the light. The room was kind of dark even with all the lights on.
The Bagel cafe, "Bagel & Beans", nearby was a GREAT place for fresh hot breakfast. And the over-100-year-old restaurant besides the opera house, "Keyners" (something like that,) serves proper and great dishes. It's also near the hotel. Also have a lunch at the "American Cafe".
Take the "Connexxion" shuttle bus from the airport and it'll take you to the door of Piet Hein.
I would definitely stay at Piet Hein for my next visit.

We stayed in a double that was small but immaculate. The bathroom was very nice and new and everything functioned well. The staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was an additional 10 Euros, but there was a nice selection and the dining room was lovely. There is a lovely garden area to sit in also.
The location near the museums, the Vondelpark, transportation, and other areas was outstanding. I would stay here again.

We had a lovely stay and the hotel and staff were very welcoming and helpful in all aspects of our stay. The room was very clean. The only comment we had was that we arrived in Amsterdam during a heatwave (for real) and our room was one of the older ones and did not have air conditioning which would have helped. The location was also terrific, away from crazy city centre. We would definately stay there again and refer our friends. Wireless connectivity only available in the lobby and the newer rooms so make sure you ask for a wireless room if that is important to you.

I stayed in a very small room which was adequate for my stay. Other rooms are much bigger and cost only a little more so recommend requesting a full-size room. Location is excellent opposite a park and a ten minute walk to main restaurant area.

The hotel was excellent! The location was not initially easy to find when we got off the bus but afterwards it was obvious that the location was near the museums. I would suggest to give directions on the web site by saying tgo to the Rijks Museum. The hotel location was great- close to the Rijks and Van GOgh museums and near the main streets where trams were easy to access. The hotel staff was very helpful and pleasant. I would definitely recommend this hotel and would plan to stay there again. Amsterdam is a beautiful city with lovely people.

I loved this hotel, althoug you have to find out where it is first. But the surrounding envriornment is nice and quiet, and it is close the the main sightseeing point. The room are clean and there is a bar in the first floor, which is nice. I will book this hotel again if I visit Amsterdam again.

Great place, very clean, staff was very helpful, helped us get reservations on the train by phone. Cute bartender serving drinks, he was really sweet, I think his name may have been John (?). Cute hotel, good price, right across from Vondel Park, everything was in walking distance. Would highly recommend it and stay there again!

For a quiet stay, I recommend.

It is hard to find any fault with this hotel.
The location is very good with excellent tram services at each end of Vossiestraat. Breakfast is good value @ 10 Euros & train fare from Schipol to Central Station is only about 7 Euros return. We took a taxi from Central Station to hotel for 15 Euros but you can get a tram. We would use this hotel again and Amsterdam is a lovely city.
