The terrace was large and the view was amazing. The hotel is at the end of Amalfi towards Positano. There is a beautiful little beach about a kilometer or two heading toward Positano...a lot of steps but well worth it! It is a bit of a walk into the center of Amalfi, however the location is very charming. The staff is very friendly and rather accommadating, they helped us with train, ferry and bus schedules and any questions we had about the area. Plentiful breakfast buffet and great coffee. Would recommend and stay again. Beautiful and eclectic antiques! Grazie. vince and sandy

I found this to be an excellent hotel. The room was big and very nice. Although the location was a bit outside the town it suited us and you had a 15 minute walk. I would advise older people against booking in here but we enjoyed the walk to and from the town. There is plenty of hills and steps on the way. The staff were very friendly and curtious. We were attending a wedding during our stay and had good fun with the girl who worked on reception who's name I did not get. She wanted to come to the wedding also. On our last day there and due to catch a boat to Salerno we ordered a taxi but the phone rang out a number of time. In the end one of the staff had to drive us about 10 minutes down the road to the boat. We were delighted with this as otherwise we would have missed the boat and had to get a bus. If I was going to Amalfi again I would stay here. The breakfast was basic enough but adequate.

Having read some mixed reviews I wasn't sure what to make of the hotel especially as it was the cheapest available, however we really enjoyed our stay.
We were upgraded to a huge room free of charge, found the staff very friendly, were always given a parking space and the breakfast offers a wide selection.
The hotel is located on the edge of Amalfi but it is a pleasant 15 minute walk using the steps down to the marina.
The hotel is a little dated inside but for the price and location it appears good value.

We were welcomed by Simona who was very helpful with everything including suggestions, directions, restaurants etc.
We stayed 20 days in Italy in different B&Bs and the breakfast was the best quality with fruit, cakes, bread, yogurt, cold cuts, cheese and capucino.
The view is beautiful.
It is a good walk to Amalfi especially uphill when coming back.

Generally very pleased. my main complaint was that the bed was very uncomfortable - seemed to be higher in the middle and over-all very hard. The old style wooden bed also squeeked every time i turned over. My pillow was also uncomfortable - very lupmy. The distance to town was a bit much, took me about 20 minutes casual walk, and going back to the hotel at night was mainly up hill, along the the narrow road fighting for space with cars and buses. not reccomended for eldery people. lucky i'm young and fit.
The view from my balcony was impressive (full marks). But the best of all was breakfast- mmm!!!
Would stay there again.

Don Antonio and his staff really make you feel very welcome and they provide their guests with service with a smile (and a good sense of humour). Every member of the staff was very helpfull (we could borrow an umbrella, they helped us with the rather difficult parking). Dinner was good and the breakfast was excellent on a terrace with a spectacular view. We booked for 1 night at first, but we stayed 4 nights instead. It is not a cheap hotel (160 euro's) but we can certainly recommend it. We wish Don Antonio a long and happy life :-)

Staff were friendly and helpful. Rooms were clean. Was located up the hill from the town -which had good and bad points. The decor of the rooms was interesting! and simple. The beds were averages and the pillows hopeless. The price was high in comparison to the standard of the rooms but I suppose we were on the Amalfi Coast. I would probably try somewhere else next time but would keep this in the back of my mind as an option.

sorry, but we travelled sicily & italy staying in several places & ironic you mail us as we agreed by the end, that this hotel was the worst. it wasnt that there was little charm, but the breakfast staff were assholes clearing up early at 10.15 & very aggressive. there was NO COLD water in my room shower & it had zero view or anything. the hotel is a hike from amalfi, not a stroll, & this was the least value place we stayed at. it didnt help that almafi was not nice with bad experiences in restauraunts. luckily ravello was a short bus trip away..! the only thing dei cavelleri had going for it was a beautiful restaurant; unfortunatly they only served dish plate per evening..
never going back. cheers. :)

When using public transport you need a taxi to go from the center of Amalfi to the Hotel with your luggage and the next day another taxi to go from the hotel to the bus station. Since the taxi costs 12,50 EUR per direction you qould probably be better off looking for a Hotel that would be 25,00 EUR more expensive but as closeto the center of Amalfi that you can walk there with the luggage.
Normal hotel rooms don't have a view; it seems that only the seaside suites of Dei Cavalieri offer a view.

This hotel is of high quality, reflecting the beauty, chicness, and priciness of the Amalfi coast area. It is about a 15 - 20 minute walf to the main area of town, but the buses are frequent and stop several yards from the front door. Service is excellent, old fashioned and refined.

We stayed in the villa on the other side of the road. Very romantic room with a small kitchen and a fantastic balcony. Very peaceful. We missed a better sun-bathing area closer to the sea. Relativeliy easy access to the sea via some long steps.

WE FEEL THAT THIS HOTEL HAS BEEN TOTALLY MIS-REPRESENTED. THE PHOTO MUST HAVE BEEN TAKEN 30 YEARS AGO AS IT BEARS NO RESEMBLENCE TO WHAT WE EXPERIENCED. IT IS ON THE MAIN ROAD TO AMALFI AND IS SURROUNDED BY OTHER HOTELS. THE ADVERT STATES THAT IT IS MODERN BUT IN FACT IT IS DARK AND DEPRESSING.
WE WERE INITIALLY GIVEN A POKEY ROOM AT THE BACK OF THE HOTEL WITH A VIEW OF A ROCKFACE. WE ASKED IF WE COULD MOVE AND WERE GIVEN THE ROOM AT THE FRONT WHICH WAS SLIGHTLY BETTER. WE WERE ALSO OFFERED A ROOM WITH A BALCONY FOR AN ASTONISHING EXTRA CHARGE OF 50 EUROS. WHEN WE STAYED IN SORRENTO WE GOT THAT FOR 10 EUROS A NIGHT EXTRA AND THE VIEW WAS BETTER TOO !!
THE AIR-CON WASN'T EFFICIENT SO WE SLEPT WITH THE WINDOWS OPEN AND AS THE HOTEL IS ON THE MAIN ROAD WE DIDN'T GET MUCH SLEEP. THE SHOWER DRIBBLED WATER RATHER THAN SHOWERED IT, AND WAS SURROUNDED BY A PLASTIC CURTAIN WHICH STUCK TO YOU AS YOU STOOD THERE. WE HAVE STAYED IN BETTER £20 A NIGHT PENSION ROOMS THAN THIS.
THE ONLY SAVING GRACE WAS THE BREAKFAST.
WE WOULD NOT RECOMEND THIS HOTEL.

Dei Cavalieri was a very nice three star Hotel. The Staff was welcoming and helpful. Although my room did not have any view, which was a pitty because Amalfi has the most amazing views you can ever see, my room was huge and quite cute. The only negative thing is the hotel is 1.5 km away from Amalfi center. So if you dont have a car, you either have to walk or use the public transaportation.

The accomodations were great for the price, and the view was awesome! Everyone at the hotel was very nice and helpful. They went out of their way to make sure we enjoyed our stay. The breakfast buffet was excellent. I'm fairly adventourous when trying new foods and they had a lot to try along with the standards. Half the time I didn't know what I was eating but it was all delicious. Location was excellent, up the hill from Amalfi (on cliffs) and close enough to get to the city and the beaches easily. If you stay here you must go to the beach below and visit the two Andrea's who run the beach bar below (the one with the yellow and blue chairs & umbrellas), they are wonderful!!

Accomodation on the Amalfi coast is overpriced in general, but we still felt that Dei Cavalieri was charging more than its really worth. The rooms are very spacious, but in dire need of some renovation. We couldn't afford the ocean view rooms and ended up looking at a wall. Because the hotel is right on the main street, the ocean view means your view also comes with significant car noise. The breakfast room is also right on the road and for some reason they kept the curtains closed all the time (even though the weather was beautiful) lending it a gloomy and dark atmosphere. We never did find the glorious balcony with tables out on a patio that they depict on their web site. The hotel staff was perfectly nice, but we didn't experience the amazing friendliness that everyone talked about. In all, the place was perfectly fine, but nothing amazing. Also be prepared for a 20 minute walk into town - it's about 2k outside and up from Amalfi.
