The location is very good, just in the historical center of Amalfi. The negative points are the entrance which is after a very small street, and the absence of a reception. It seems to be a pension, not a hotel. The breakfast was good and with a good choice of fresh meals. The room was clean, quite spacious but very spartan in its furniture. The bathroom had a very very small sink, almost unusable, but despite the shower was very good. The price could be a little better, taking into account that the parking is about 18 euro per day, 300 mt far and that the reception does not exist.

The location of Hotel L'Antico Convitto was superb! You are right in the centre of Amalfi, which incidently is a great location to tour around the coast from. The staff are friendly and they make a mean cappucino for breakfast! Room was clean and spacious. We stayed in a roon which had been recently renovated and it was certainly well done. Especially the shower! The only downside is that because of the central location, you will hear quite a bit of noise. Especially from the closeby Duomo which sounds its bells on regular occasions.

Very nice!!! Locations is wonderful and price very convenient. The only small problem (but it is not hotel's fault!) is the car parking: absolutely necessary in Amalfi, calculate 18 euros per day more. Breakfast was a little bit hectic.

I was not sure what to expect after staying in some other hotels at this same price range, and wow was I pleasantly surprised! The owner Gabriella was so friendly and helpful and speaks excellent English, as well as Francesca the other daytime clerk. The hotel is in the midst of remodeling and decorating and will soon have more rooms and an outdoors dining space. The room I was in was recently redone with a beautiful bathroom, new tiles on the floors as well as the walls. It was a very nice room. The breakfast had a good selection of foods and good cappucino (our group wore out the machine!) The location is excellent for the town of Amalfi, just up the main road from the piazza and a gentle incline, not a hike. There is a supermarket on the main floor of the building which is very convenient for water, soda, etc. The rooms also have a mini fridge to keep things cool. I was so happy to have this hotel after some scary experiences in the previous destination. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who would like a relaxing, comfortable hotel. It is not a 5 star property, but I enjoyed my whole experience. The staff knows you after the first day and that is rare these days. You will have a great vacation if you stay here!

We loved our stay at L'Antico Convitto, it was our favorite hotel in Italy. We rented the family room which had plenty of room for five adults. The staff was warm and welcoming and the location is perfect for visiting Amalfi. Close to everything. We can highly recommend this beautiful hotel to everyone

This was the perfect hotel for our family. The location was an easy walk from the bus, the kitchen was useful, the room was pleasant and quiet, the breakfast provided was great, the staff was very helpful and considerate and the price was very reasonable. We would definitely come again. I would advise other travelers to get specific directions since the sign for the hotel is very small and it is off the main street down a tiny short alley inside a building with another hotel also located inside.

Staff were exceptionally helpful and we enjoyed our stay in the hotel. The hotel is just around the corner from the Duomo. May not be the quietest location, especially in summer, but it is so central and the traffic is limited anyway. Junior suite had a lovely big bath with jacuzzi.

L'Antico Convitto is an excellent hotel. It is only 5 minutes walk from the mail square and the sea is only a short walk away. However, the hotel was far enough away from Piazza Duomo for there to not be any noise. The breakfast was very nice, with a wide selection of all kinds of foods - cereals, fruit, hot food etc, including delicious pastries. The room was a good size and with regards to cleanliness it was excellent. The staff were friendly and helpful also. Overall, it is a very good hotel that I would happily recommend to any of my family and friends.

Stayed here 18/9/07 for two nights. Room 7. Paid 130 Euro prpn B&B.
Well located in the centre of Amalfi - once you have found it. Modern conversion of an old building. We had a lovely spacious room, very clean and characterful decor, beautiful tiled floor, good views from room, very good bathroom with large shower with hydromassage. Good breakfast. Friendly staff.
Quite expensive, but well worth it, and still something of a bargain compared to most hotel prices in this area. A hotel definitely to be recommended. The second best hotel on our four week trip.
Access by train from Naples to either Sorrento or Salerno, then by bus to Amalfi. The buses are old and cramped; boats are more comfortable - we used boat to get direct from Amalfi to Capri. Amalfi town is attractive and pleasant, the beach is quite good for this area. We especially liked Ravello, scenic and relaxing, 15 minutes by bus or walkable (up many steps).

Accomadations were very good. Francisca was extremely helpful. She responded immediately to each email I sent and provided all the information I requested. At the hotel, she also provided very good advice on spending our time in the most enjoyable way. The breakfast was also very good. My only complaint would be the elevator. It is too small and needs to be painted at the very least. It is not a good entrance into such a good hotel, but that is my only concern.

Hotel L'Antico Convitto is an excellent place to stay in Amalfi at a very reasonable cost. Clean, spaceous rooms with good facilities. It is well located, tucked away just off the main road, a short walk from the main square and church. The staff are friendly and very helpful. Overall, highly recommended.

Hotel L'Antico Convitto was the best hotel I've stayed in during my vacation in Italy. The receptionist was really helpful and friendly and so were the people in Amalfi. Beautiful place. Hotel was in excellent location. Great value! 5 stars! Would definitely stay here again.

This was a wonderful little hotel. Newly refurbished. Not hard to find at all. Close proximity to everything. Francesca was wonderful. She booked excursions for me via email before my trip, she was very helpful with any questions I had. Very nice hotel for the money. Better bathroom and shower facilities than hotels in Rome and Florence.

A most unusual hotel. It's small (approx. 25 rooms) located on the 4th floor of a hidden building. Hard to find on a completely pedestrianised street......if arriving by car, ask hotel to e-mail a map, and even then you won't find it. Drive WAY PAST the Duomo. Best advice received: It's exactly opposite the Hotel Amalfi (which has a big sign). Parking garage is farther along the street. Dump your car right away. Parking is now 18 Euros per night, not 16 per their website. Very pleasant parking attendant, makes it supper easy. Hotel is well-run & efficient. The owner/proprietor is an energetic and pleasant young woman. Her staff is equally good. Breakfast is above average, though the breakfast room is an extension of the lobby. Don't stay here if you want lots of gooey charm, but it's efficient & clean & superb location. Overall good value. The rooms have been newly done & sport ample & modern bathrooms w/ one of the best showers seen on our trip.......even better than in 4 Star hotels!!!

Hotel was very difficult to find - map isn't good enough - hotel is located down a small alley on the 5th floor. If you are driving you need to drive on a heavily pedestrianized street - be warned. Staff were very helpful. My daughter was not happy with her lumpy pillow. Breakfast was pretty good. Major complaint - hotel indicated we needed to check in by 8 pm - we were stuck in traffic for 2 hours due to the fires around Amalfi (!) so we went to great efforts to call the hotel (our cell phone didn't work in Italy so we called to Ireland who called the hotel !) and they told us 'no problem - we're here all night.) Still - a nice place.

L'Antico Convitto is a very nice hotel in Amalfi. Of special note is the cleanliness of the hotel and the very helpful staff. You should note the following: the hotel is on the fourth floor of the building. It has an elevator, but one in which the passenger is required to completely close the door or the elevator will not operate. More often than not, the door was not fully closed, making for a long stairway walk. If you cannot easily negotiate stairs, you may have a problem.

We booked a double standard room, but when we arrived we thought we had the wrong room because it was so lovely!!! The room was clean, quiet and beautiful, everything about this Hotel was absolutely fantastic, the staff was remarkably accomodating and helpful, great location, excellent breakfast.
Overall, if you want to stay in Amalfi, you MUST stay at L'Antico Convitto.

Francesca was really helpful and we felt at home the moment we arrived. All the other staff were helpful and great. We had a wonderful stay at L'antico Convitto and certainly recommend it to everyone wanting to stay in Amalfi.
There is a grocery store just as you step out of the building where the hotel is. And a few meters you are in the shops already. Quite convenient!!!!!

Previous reviews were spot on. Location right in the heart of Amalfi so expect it to be busy and no space around the hotel but you are seconds from the centre of town. Welcome and service is outstanding. Gabriella and every one of her team were charming, helpful and friendly. The 100plus steps up to the 4th floor location are great exercise to counter the effects of too much gelati
pasta or limoncello. The lift's fine if you prefer. We stayed 8 days and would have happily stayed longer. Amalfi makes a great centre for this part of Italy and this Hotel deserves its 1st class reviews

Just spent 22 days (April 9-30) in Italy as a single traveler: I stayed in 12 hotels priced from 50 to 80 Eur/night. I looked long and hard on the Internet to find the best hotels I could afford. In general, most of them are better than “budget/backpacker” hotels and you get great value for your buck.
I cheated a bit with L’Antico Convitto, my second hotel in Amalfi, by booking a double room for single use. The room was huge and beautifully decorated and had an amazing view of orange trees and the Torre Dello Ziro up high in the mountains. The staff was great and breakfast was basic with bread and croissant, jam, yogurt, cereals, juice and coffee. The hotel is situated on the 4th floor, in a small alley near the Internet and Chiesa Santa Maria dell’Addolorata. It is about 5min. from the town center (quieter!). At 80 Eur/night, it was a bit more expensive but it was worth it: I rate it OUTSTANDING.

We spent 4 days in Amalfi and it was the best holiday of my life. The hotell was clean, the breakfast was very good and the employees were very nice.
We had a nice family room with 5beds because we were a group of 2children and 3adults. The room was spacious and there was also a nice kitchen in the room. And the supermarket was very near the hotel.
I would like to return to this hotel as soon as possible.I recommend this!

This is a very nice hotel situated in the centre of Amalfi down a narrow cobbled street and on the 4th floot of old original buildings. There is a lift to the hotel which is very welcoming. The room was clean and basic but excellent value for money, recently been decorated as such had a very fresh feel to it. Window looked out up hill and on a narrow cobbled path with orange treets accross way. Very atmospheric indeed. Breakfast was budget buffet which befitted the price paid but could have maybe had a bit more choice, however this would have put price up a bit as hotel was excellent value for money and I would reccomend it without hesitation and definately stay there again if in Amalfi. The town itself was stunning and well worth staying in for a good few days and not just for a day visit.

The staff and parking guy were so so helpful, couldnt ask for more. The rooms were lovely - ours adjoined the breakfast room and we lay in late so caught all the breakfast chatter, chairs on the tiled floor etc but that should teach us to get up earlier. The maid soon realised and left our room to the afternoon to clean.
You do have to pay around 12 euros per day (negotiable off season) to park and it is off site but Gianluca who runs it is brilliant and even late at night you can call him to park up and he is with you in seconds.
Wonderful location and couldnt have stayed in a better hotel. Only drive around here if you are very comfortable driving abroad and learn the Italian code of driving (I'm coming through!) as the coastal road is not for the faint-hearted.

This is an excellent hotel, made particularly extraordinary by the hotel's wonderful manager Gabriella. We arrived and my husband was very sick and within 2 minutes we were comfortably in our room and within 20 minutes our car was taken to the parking garage and we had a doctor in our room. For our 4 day stay at this hotel we were well taken care of by staff. The hotel interior is brand new, clean, spacious and very comfortable. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to experience the Amalfi coast.
