This hotel gets terrible feedback, but it is VERY cheap. I think a lot depends on what you are used to and what you're expecting. The breakfast was great - full english breakfast, plus juice, fresh fruit, cereal, pastries etc. Room was clean and functional (ensuite with tv). Staff were very helpful - my car battery went flat and they charged it for me during the day!
But the place is very run down. The corridors do smell - damp rather than pee. The bed was old and matteress saggy. Because of the low price it does attract poorer people, but i found them 'colourful' rather than a problem.
Overall if you want fantastic value for money and a great breakfast to set you up for the day, i'd recommend this. If you want the Ritz add a zero to the cost and go somewhere else...

What a dump! More like a hostel for the homeless than a hotel. Grubby, smelt of urine and wet dogs. I felt dirty by just being there and this feeling did not leave me for hours after I had left the place.
Never again!

The room I was given was spacious, but very disgusting. There was mold on the ceilings, there were stains on the carpets, and the linens and towels looked 30 years old. The staff was not particularly friendly. When I arrived, there were crumbs on the table, and the glassware was not clean. The cleaning staff did not replace the dirty glasses with new and clean ones (after 6 nights!), and didn't seem to understand me when I asked specifically that they replace the glasses after I had already been in the room for several nights.

Definitely an A+ for ambiance. The rooms are cozy and clean, if a bit shabby. The hot-water pot with tea and coffee selection in the room is a welcoming touch, and the breakfast provided is substantial and served in a charming dining room with fellow travellers. We were given new towels every day. The walk into town takes about ten minutes (for us, no big deal). My one big complaint was the shower; there is no water pressure, and the shower is too small to turn around in without being sprayed in the eye. Definitely don't plan on taking "a quick shower" before heading out; plan on it taking a significant amount of time. Also, the mattresses were in pretty rough shape - I'm normally not picky at all, but the springs poking me in the back were very uncomfortable. Luckily there were extra beds in the room, so I was able to put another layer of blankets between myself and the springs.

Old building and old rooms, have charm, though mattress felt old too! Glad to have some free parking- choice of street (not always available though we got out space) and back (more spaces, but can be parked in, not good if leaving early in morning).
