I really enjoyed our one-night stay at the Tulip Inn Terminus. The hotel was pleasant and the front desk staff were helpful. They gave us accurate directions to the Jardin Exotique (not to be missed!) along with an accurate warning about the number of steps involved in walking (I suggest taking the bus if you aren't interested in climbing a lot of stairs). The breakfast was perfectly adequate -- pastries, yoghurt, coffee and tea, cereal, perhaps some fruit although I can't quite recall. Our room, #32, overlooked the street, but we had no trouble with noise. I think that, given Monaco's prices, this is a great option for the midrange traveler. No unpleasant surprises, a perfectly nice hotel room at a reasonable rate. We paid 160 euros per night in early July. A tip on getting to the hotel from the train station: The hotel is next to access to the train station, but you need to take the exit indicated by the signs reading "Monaco-Ville, Fontvieille". This is not the main train station exit, but at the far western end of the train platform (the direction you came from, if arriving from Nice). If in doubt, ask the friendly people at the information desk in the train station. They are very nice and speak perfect English.

WiFi use was expensive. My best option of 10hrs stop and go cost E48.00 for 10 hrs but less than 4 hrs used and only valid for 3 months. Other hotels are offering cheaper of free WiFi connections including www.ambassadormonaco.com which opposite at no 10 !!

Arriving by train the hotel was not as close to the hotel as I expected and it was not easy to find. Some maps have the old station which was closer but is no longer used. They could do with putting some more detailed instructions on the website about how to get there from the station because there is more than one exit on different level. But the direct bus to and from Nice airport stops very close by as do local buses.
When I arrived there was nobody in reception to greet me.
The room had a TFT sceen TV, but no drawers to put clothes in, or any fridge.
The breakfast was OK for food but not good for drinks. They were not freshly made for each person but left on the buffet in vacuum flasks and if you did not go early they were not very hot. The tea was particularly vile, the teabags were not individually wrapped and there were so many of them in the tray, they had probably been there a long time and got stale.
I have stayed in much better hotels which cost a lot less in other places, but I suppose Monte Carlo is an expensive place.
