farmhome - exterior
Casanova di Pescille is located at an altitude of 300 m. with a beautiful view of the San Gimignano towers (you can almost touch them) and it is nestled in a natural animal reserve where it is possible to see pheasants, hares, wild boar, foxes, partridges and where you can still see glow-worms and hear the crickets calling on summer nights.
The Casanova di Pescille farm is a typical Tuscany nineteenth century stone farmhouse situated 2 km. from San Gimignano, the city that is famous all over the world for its towers, medieval village and masterpieces of art.
The house is furnished down to the tiniest details attempting to reconstruct the rural setting, with its life, cultures, and feelings, feelings that Monica and Roberto Fanciullini convey to their guests who immediately feel at home, with that extra touch of the professional skill of people who have chosen this job as a way of life.

We had a really good time at the Casanova. Room was terrific and the breakfast was first rate. The grounds are spacious and well kept and the pool area and terrace very nice. I highly recommend this property. Roberto (the operator) is very nice and helpful, but a bit on the quiet side. Most of our B&B experiences have been with very out-going and personable people so it was unusual for us that Roberto was so reserved. He was however very helpful regarding recommendations for dinner and sight-seeing and gave us great directions when we wanted to walk from the Inn to San Gimignano using only "backroads".

Great location, with a view. Nice swimming-pool. The right distance from San Gimignano. The hot breakfast "croissants" are really delicious!

From the moment we stepped out of our car the owner welcomed us on the doorstep. The farmhouse is beautiful with a view of the towers of SAn Gimignano. The breakfast is homemade, the pool area has scenic views of countryside and there is even a pay-as-you-go homemade wine fridge. An excellent stay - we upgraded from 2 nights to 3. You need a car, however, to get to restaurants in the evening.

Roberto was a very charming host and we had a great time. Its a wonderful place to stay if you want to avoid the crowds in San Gimignano and have some rest after a day walking around. Breakfasts are great and you can even taste home made honey and jams... absolutely delicious in all senses!

This is a great place to stay. Very beautiful surroundings and very relaxing. A day sitting on their patio, drinking the wine that is produced on the property and looking out over the rolling hills and vineyards is great.

Accomodations at Casanova Di Pescille were excellent. Roberto, the owner, took every effort to make our stay s wonderful as possible. Our room overlooked the wine vinyard and olive trees. The weather was perfect and we were only a 40 minute drive to Florence. San Geminiano is easily viewed from the property and all amenities were close yet not right on top of us. We brought our 2 teenagers and they were welcomed there as well. We will definitely go back but for a longer stay than 4 nights.

We enjoyed our two brief stays very much. The position is excellent though a car is absolutely essential. Our first room was the two-floor suite that can be used as self-catering accom and this was very quiet, characterful and had a comfortable bed but the access to the bedroom- and particularly the shower room- was only for the agile! The second room was in the main building, smallish but still very comfortable. The atmosphere and ambience of Casanova di Pescille is very restful and beautiful and we would recommend it without hesitation. San Gim, though stunning, has a theme park feel rather than a real Italian town, very busy and expensive, it definitely comes into its own in the evenings, when it is an unforgettable experience, rather than during the day.

The services, facilities and surroundings offered are definitely in the category "I want to come back". Rooms were clean and well set out, breakfast was fantastic - especially the fresh figs plucked straight from the garden by Roberto. There is a special ambience about Pescille, carefully preserved during its reconstruction and tastefully displayed with little snippets of its history. Definitely would return to this accommodation. You do need a car if you wish to avail yourself of the many excellent attractions within easy reach.

I stayed here with my family for three days in mid July, 2005. I wish I had stayed longer as it is the perfect retreat for exploring Tuscany. I first stayed here in October 2004 in the apartment. The apartment, two stories with wrought iron, spiral staircase and a small kitchen/ living area below and the bedroom upstairs, was very comfortable and nicely and tastefully furnished/decorated as with all the rooms. I think all the rooms have wonderful looking antique pieces. Since we liked it so much last October, we booked two rooms this July. Our two teenagers shared one room. The hotel and grounds are clean and pristine. Roberto and Monica did a great job in converting the farm. The views of the tuscan country side and the towers of San Gimignano are absolutely splendid. It's a wonderful place to relax by the pool or sit overlooking the countryside after a long hot day or morning site seeing in Siena, San Gimignano, Florence, Pisa or other nearby Tuscan attractions. Our two rooms were at ground level and connected by a door allowing us convenient and easy access to each other's room. Each room had a patio with table and chairs for relaxing. A few steps away was the self service bar where we could help ourselves to a glass or bottle of wine, soda, or mineral water. There you could also purchase wine, oil and other items for sale. San Gimignano is only a few minutes away by car. There's a decent restaurant practically across the street from the farm house and Roberto can recommend a restaurant or two in San Gimignano. He sent us to La Vechia Mura which was perfect: just minutes inside the main entrance to the city, the food was very good, the prices reasonable and we dined outside overlooking the gorgeous country side. The view was even pretty at night with all the lighted villas. A note on the facilities: The pool was nice and clean, the bathrooms average size with good water pressure and large, full stand up showers, much nicer than usual 2x2 small showers or th

We stayed for 3 nights and thought it was an absolute oasis. The location is perfect just 2 km from the main town with a fantastic view accross the valley back to San Gimignano. Rooms were excellent. The pool was an added bonus. Totally relaxed atmosphere, just perfect.

Rooms were small but very adequate. The grounds, pool, and surrounding area are beautiful! Better driving directions from San Gimignano would be helpful.

We were very impressed with this property, the views were stunning, property well looked after and we would recommend it to anyone. Roberto was very welcoming. The only down side being that you really do need to hire a car, and we were relying on public transport.
