| From the southern side of the island lies a city of Hvar or New city. In time it gained ascendancy over Stari Grad so that even the bishop moved his seat to Novi Grad. It has numerous sights that reflect its centuries of history. In 1612 a theatre was built here, the oldest public theatre in Europe. Its is still active, its stage features rich drama repertoire, especially during the summer months.
On the hilltop above the city rises a city known as Fortica. It was built on the remains of the Medieval fort from the 16th century and building inside the fort were built during the Austrian empire. Today Fortica reconstructed into a tourist attraction with a museum, restaurant and a largest disco on the island. City square is the largest in Dalmatia with 4500 m2. Its eastern side is covered with cathedral and a bishop's palace with a museum. From the northern and a southern side there are numerous public buildings and palaces. In the center of the square lies a large well from 1520. Near the cove on the south of the city lies a Franciscan monastery. It was built from 1461 to 1471 as a sailor's inn. Baptistery with its monumental arcades with well in the center dominates the whole renaissance complex. The whole monastery is surrounded with gardens and walls. In the garden in front of the dining room lies cypress tree 300 years old with impressive size and strange shape, inside the monastery is a museum with old books, coins and a painting of last Supper from the early 17th century. |

I would definitely recommend this Hotel to anyone wanting to visit Hvar. It's located a lovely 15min walk from the ferry (not hard and walk has great views) and the beach is only 2 mins away. Perfect location. Great bathroom, lovely breakfasts and they even can do your laundry if required. There is also a supermarket just up the road.

The hotel is a good 12 minute walk from Hvar town by the coast walkway - ideal away from noisy centre. The beach is a two minute walk away. Excellent beach bar "The Hula Hula Bar" only 5 minutes away. Beautiful view of Pakleni Islands across the bay. Hotel is new immaculate, spacious and airconditioned. Staff very friendly. We enjoyed a very pleasant stay at this hotel.

Our stay at Pharia Apartholtel was very pleasant. We had a balcony overlooking the ocean. Hvar is truly a magical place, so it would be very difficult not to enjoy your stay. The hotel is a short walking distance to downtown on a beautiful path. If we had known that there is a penalty for staying just two nights, we would have booked for three. Otherwise, the room was great (not that we spent a lot of time there) and the hotel staff was extremely pleasant.
