Not the best introduction to Venice. The directions to this B&B were terrible. We spent 1/2 hr searching for it, and none of the locals recognized the name of the street or the hotel. We got there around 9:30pm and nobody was there to let us in. We called the cell phone of the owner and couldn't reach anyone. Around 10:30 we finally got a hold of her and she let us in. Once inside, things got better. The owner is kind and she helped us plan some interesting things to do during our stay. The terrace where breakfast is served is nice and the view is pretty. Breakfast was the best part of the stay. The room was clean, but I wouldn't call it spectacular. We shared a bathroom with one other room, which we knew ahead of time. That went ok. Overall, I'd say our stay was mediocre, but this definitely isn't the best value for the money. When we couldn't get into our room, we checked the prices and availability of a nearby 3-star hotel. It was 20 Euro per night cheaper, looked much nicer, had a 24 hr lobby and they had rooms available. Wish we had stayed there...

For Venice the price was probably not out of line. But expensive compared with other regions. The venue, the location, and the welcome and service were all wonderful. It exceeded our expectations.

Considering Venice is expensive for accomodation, I could recommend this B&B. It is an old building, and there isn't a lift to help you to the 1st or 2nd floor with your luggage, but the comfortable beds, great breakfast and view of the canal, make this one at Euro 195 per double, a good choice. The waterbus station is basically right outside your door, and there is an Art Academy right at your door. We we not able to view it as it was under refurbishment. Just make sure you have enough room left in your suitcase, as you surely will want to bring home one of the magnificent masks that Venice has to offer. Dont buy the first one you see, as the further you walk, the better they get. The markets at the Rialto Bridge have masks for around Euro 29, they aren't too bad, but the real gems will cost from around Euro 80+ Overall, we loved Venice and we would return to this B&B if we ever went back to Venice. We stayed here during the off season. breakfast was as expected. The Academy was quiet and there were only one or two other guests. Public areas show wear. Near the Vaporetta stop so there was lots of night time pedestrian noise. They asked us to pay in cash at the end of our stay!!!

Not en-suite not great and after four days we got a bit fed up with just bread rolls and jam for breakfast,a bit of meat and cheese would have not gone amiss. But saying that, the place was clean plenty of fresh towels and access to the water taxi could not have been nearer and best of all the price was great for Venice

We read a lot of conflicting reports about the Acadamia B&B but our impression could not be better. The accommodation is very simple to find, step of the Vaporetto at Acadamia and turn right, right again at the first cafe and then right again just past an art shop (left) and gift shop (right), big iron gates are the frontage. The landlady was very welcoming and has a good command of English. Our room was fabulous and even having to share a bathroom was really no difficulty at all. Breakfast was continental but more than enough, we didn't need lunch 'til mid afternoon. Our early morning alarm, as our room was right next to the dining room, was classical music - a pleasant way to start the day. At the end of the stay we had the opportunity to pay by either cash or visa and we were able to leave our luggage at the B&B until we were ready to go to the airport. All in all, we have absolutely not hesitation in recommending Acadamia as a first class base in Venice.

The location is really convenient. Would come back again. However I do wish they would let me know that there is no TV in my room (some rooms does have TV). If you want to take boat from airport to the hotel, you can get off at Zatterie.

we have recently returned from Venice and had 4 nights at the art academy B&B. We didn't arrive until 10.30pm and the welcome wasn't great. I got the impression that we had kept her waiting and she hurridly told us about the keys and then practically run off!! The bridge and also the art acedmy was undergoing some construction work so the views of the bridge were completely runined and breakfast on the balcony was slightly noisy with all the building work. The room itself was great but make sure you don't end up staying in the room by the breakfast room as I can imagine you get woken early. No air con though and we were struggling a little at night with the heat so it would be much worse in the height of summer. BE WARNED, there is a nightclub just round the corner that's open till 4am everynight which is really convenient if you want to go clubbing every night, but no so convenient if you want to get a good nights kip. It was very noisy until at least 3am and people leaving the club tended to hang around just outside the window of our room. Very annoying. Breakfast was fine, just your bog standard continental with slightly stale bread!! One thing that we found confusing was that it was not clear who all the staff were, or whether they were the owners? We met 3 different people, none of which told us who they were so we politely said Ciao all the time to everyone!! Best thing about the hotel (when the construction work has finished!) is the location, great position to visit everything and walk everywhere. The liveliest square campo santa margherita (beer also quite cheap here compared to everywhere else) is about a 5 min walk. All in all not a bad B&B but next time I think we will try and find a place that is a bit more tucked away.

Excellent stay ! Best in Venice ! the room was huge and despite the separate bathroom, we felt really like we were at home. The welcoming and sevices are great, personnal really kind, not pushy but always trying to help. The place was a bit hard to find (it's venice) but not so much. we hope to return soon. thanks again.

This B&B represented good value for money in Venice at Carnivale. Breakfast was served in a delightful room overlooking Accademia and the roof terrace. Breakfast was standard and the service good. Art Accademia is ideally situated for exploring both the better known parts of the city as well as the lesser trodden areas. Excellent Taverna just around the corner, and no shortage of squares to relax with a coffee or ice cream and watch the world go by. The staff were friendly, very honest and helpful. We left luggage there after checkout. If there was a downside, it was street noise when the nearby disco closed in the small hours. The disco itself could not be heard. We would use this B&B again.

We got the last free room, for which we had to cross the hall to go the the bathroom and toilets. The trouble was, this room, like one other, is beside the breakfast room, so we were woken up every morning at 8. Apart from that, the b&b is well located, and rooms are charming.

Disappointing, would not stay here again, would pay more to stay elsewhere. Shared bath had the handle taken off the shower, so you could only take a SHARED BATH literally--had to wash my hair laying down backwards under the bath spigit, after someone else had already used. More of a problem than expected for shared bath...had to go to next floor in middle of the night when shared bath was occupied. Also noisy--had windows open (even end of Oct--it was hot) and nearby bar had folks walking by all night. More spartan and not as clean as expected. Would not recommend and would not stay again...main good thing was location as close to Accademia vaporetta stop and didn't have to cross any bridges to get to it.

B&B Art Academy is simple, cheap (for Venice) and on an excellent location! The area Dorsoduro isn't crowded with tourists, but when you cross the bridge at the canal Grande you are in 5 minutes on San Marco. With the Vaporetto, also around the corner, you can go everywhere.

The bedroon was very clean and spacious and quite. The location is excellent as well. We highly recommend it!

My wife and I were delighted with the Art Academy B & B. The location was terrific. We were right across from the Art Academy Gallery and close to fascinating squares and canals in the heart of Venice. San Marco square was a comfortable walk away. We loved the terrace - ideal for their lovely continental breakfasts and also perfect for our locally-bought wine and cheese in the afternoon. The view from the terrace of the canal, Academia Bridge and buildings was great. The room was big and clean. All-in-all, we were fortunate to find the B & B and thoroughly enjoyed it. We hope to return to Venice some day.

Quite noisy at night, as a dancing is just nereby, and there is a lot of noise in the street at 4am, when the dancing closes. It's a pity that the windows do not "filter the noise" better. But this is a very nice place, with a very nice place outside for breakfast.

A lovely place to stay although a bit difficult to find once we arrived. It was very clean and comfortable and so relaxing to come back to after a long day sight seeing, at the same time it was in the middle of everything, we could see the Grand Canal from our window. Very lovely and classically romantic, in total keeping with such an old and beautiful city. I would definately return to the same place if visiting Venice again. Reccomended.

Flight delayed so didn't arrive until 01.15 however we were given a very warm welcome. Breakfast is adequate, location on terrace very pleasant. Bedroom very large and airy with lovely view and two large fans to help with the overwhelming heat when we visited. Location excellent. Staff very friendly and helpful. We certainly will return.

We really enjoyed staying here. It's centrally located and has great views from the balcony. We loved having breakfast on the balcony and took our wine out in the evening too. We found the hosts very welcoming in spite of the language barrier (our fault for not knowing Italian I think). However, not being able to pay by credit card was EXTREMELY inconvenient and caused a last minute panic. Also the breakfast was not great - croissants were fine, but the yoghurts are long life and there is only jam, no cheese. Having said this we would stay here again.

We had a fantastic weekend at the Art Academy! There are not many rooms (4 at the 3rd floor and about 2(?) at the 2nd floor) in an old building right next to the Accademia bridge. The room we had was really big, with a fantastic view onto the bridge. The bed was very comfortable and once the windows were closed it was absolutely quite inside. There are two bathrooms (towels were provided) which are very clean and a beautiful terasse on which breakfast is served. Breakfast included fresh Coffee/Cappucino/Tea, orange juice, fresh croissants and bred, jam, yogurt, cornflakes. All the interesting points in Venice are just a few steps away. The ladies who run the hostel are very friendly. The only bad surprise was that no credit cards were accepted (on venere.com it was said they would). However, this is not a problem as long as you know it in advance so you could bring enough cash. The house is a little bit difficult to find. As you arrive with the vaporetto turn right. There is a little bar/cafe on the corner where you have to go right. Follow the narrow street to the end (maybe 20 m), then you will see a gate to your right hand where you have to ring a bell.

The Bed and Breakfast Art Academy was situated in an area slighly away from the summer crowds around St Marks, which we considered to be a real positive. It was also easily found from the ferry stop without having to lug heavy bags over bridges and up stairs. It is only a short walk over the bridge to join the hordes at St Marks if that is what you are interested in. The share bathroom that we shared with one other room, which made the price cheaper, was immaculate, and we appreciated the lower cost with very little inconvenience. The only discomfort was the lack of air conditioning, which can be a problem in the middle of summer, and meant that we needed to keep the windows open, which became noisy when the ferry came in and people walked past in the middle of the night. I would definitely recommend this accommodation, particularly when the weather is not too hot. Excellent value for a very large and comfortable room.

We absolutely loved our stay here! Barbara was wonderful and so helpful in getting us dinner reservations and looking up train schedules. I didn't have a plug adapter so she let me borrow her hair dryer! The room was very spacious with a view of the canal and with a nice large bathroom. No A/C but we had 2 fans in our room so it was fine being there in July. It is hard to find the first time, but we called and she came out to the street to find us. Just get off the boat and turn right down a narrow alley and you're there! Loved it!!!

We stayed three nights; the rooms and the service were marvellous - breakfast on a terrace just above Canal Grande! - and the employees very friendly and helpful (if they really speak five languages - I only heard them speak in two of them: English and Italian); unfortunately we had bad luck and got a room upon the street - and, yes, it was noisy at night and we had to close the windows all night long! But we did enjoy our vacation and I think we´ll be back some day!

very helpful, accommodating, the front desk lady had a tremendous sense of humor, and even though our train didn't leave until late in the day she allowed us to keep our bags there while we toured Venice. Very hard to find, it's in a little alley, behind a gate, with a very small sign. Also, get there early in the day, the women who run the place aren't there after 7pm, and you'll have to call thier cell phone to check in. Also, only one of the hosts speaks english, only a bit, but the other one speaks none. Cute rooms, and pretty good location, it's right around the corner from the vaparetto stop.
