Only 300 metres from the convent is the local train station where guests can take a train to the famous archaeological sites of Pompeii, Herculaneum and the city of Naples. |

We stayed at Porto Salvo March 24-28,2008. The B+B is in a good central location, a short bus ride from downtown Sorrento, and a 5 minute walk to the train and the rest of the Amalfi peninsula. We found the room comfortable, and the bathroom huge compared to other places we have stayed (10x10). The English breakfast was fresh and delicious, with a selection of cold cuts, pastries, fresh fruits, fresh squeezed blood orange juice, etc. The rooms on the street side overlook a chicken coop, so if you are not an early riser, avoid these. Overall a good value and would definitly book another stay. Ps. the pizza place around the corner past the bus stop is excellent.

Room was very large but beds squeaked and mattress was a little sunken in. Staff very friendly. Sant'Agnello very quaint found excellent restaurants within walking distance. Bar on the edge of nearby cliff had great coffee and excellent view. Distance from train station to Porto Salvo longer than expected.

Our second visit to Porto Salvo.
This lovely old monastery is quietly situated in a great location. The staff are so kind and helpful, the breakfasts are wonderful - just wish they did evening meals as well!

Friendly, helpful staff, good breakfast provided. Staff phoned round to ascertain which local restaurants were open, as it was low season and not everywhere was open. Spacious rooms and at a comfortable temperature, particularly given that it was February. Excellent overall. Sorrento within walking distance. Short train journey to Pompeii.

This was a great start to a three week vacation in December 2007. The only regret that we had was not having a room with a view of the water. With that exception, Porto Salvo was the best part of our trip. We had a double room with a FULL DOUBLE bed! The next five hotels in Italy and Greece had twin beds pushed together. I would recomend Porto Salvo to anyone wanting to stay in southern Italy. The breakfast was done very well and had a good selection to meet anyone's request. The only problem that we had was finding the property in the dark, but later we found that to be a problem with most European hotels.

Originally booked 2 nights but found the facility so agreeable that we stayed an additional three. Porto Salvo is well maintained , clean, and comfortably though Spartanly furnished as befits a former monastery. The staff is friendly and genuinely interested in the comfort and concerns of their guests. Each of our mornings began with a generous breakfast with other guests in the inn's dining room, followed by a short, brisk hike to the Circumvesuviana Station (commuter rail station) to begin that day's sightseeing. Thanks to an abundance of public transportation connections Porto Salvo and the town of Sant'Agnello is an excellent base for exploring the Bay of Naples/Amalfi Coast area. Evenings Porto Salvo was a quiet refuge in which to reconnect with family and friends via the internet and rest for the next day's adventures. All in all our stay at Porto Salvo was most pleasant. The inn was all it was advertised to be and a little more.

a lovely quiet spot with a view of naples bay and yet a quick walk into the town. Perfect spot to enjoy the amalfi coast and visit pompeii, naples etc. Trains and buses less than a ten minute walk. parking off street for our car was a bonus. Friendly staff

It is a very nice place to stay. A little far from the train station. And be careful to get off at Station S' Agnello not Sorrento. A bus will take you to town and marina (stop right outside the B&B.) Will definite come back to stay next time. Only one drawback! Bars in the neighbourhood can keep you up all night on weekend.

My sister, two of our adult daughter's, and I stayed in a quad room at Porta Salvo for three nights. The room was large, had two big comfortable beds, a large private bathroom, a beautiful view, an electric hot water kettle, cups, coffee, and a decent breakfast. There were a few major downsides to our room though. We noticed a very strong smell of scent/perfume when we first walked into the room. We opened the door and window to air it out and soon realized that the smell of perfume was used to cover-up the discusting smell of sewage coming from the plumbing in the bathroom. We were sickened by the smell every time we walked into the room. I told the desk clerk about it and we were given a few Euros off the price of the room along with an apology. We also noticed three steps in our room that separated the bedroom area from the bathroom/entryway. We had to go up and down the steps when using the bathroom and coming into/leaving the room. We discussed the danger and the need to be careful while using them, especially at night when getting out of bed to use the toilet. Sure enough, the first night, my daughter slipped, fell, and scraped her leg while going down the steps to the bathroom. Around 10:00 on Friday night the party started at the bar close by. It sounded like the band was in our room even with the windows closed.
We had driven down from Rome and had our first encounter with getting lost while driving in Italy (And that includes driving in Milan, Florence, all through Tuscany, Rome, etc.). The instructions were terrible and it is almost impossible to find a place to turn around once you have passed your turn. Traffic is bumper to bumper (In OFF season!) so it made it even worst when we could not find the place. Beware: If you are driving in from Naples and the north, turn RIGHT on the street immediately BEFORE the town hall (which is also on the right). The town hall is easy to see but, the street signs are not!

Beautiful historic building in quiet location a few metres from the sea. Great sea views, several restaurants in easy walking distance. Walk into Sorrento centre about 30 mins, but buses and trains available instead. Private secure parking. Great breakfast. We had an en suite room which was very clean and spacious. Think rooms with no en suite may be quite small though. Really enjoyed our stay. Only negative things were the regular traffic jam along the main road to/from the Sorrento peninsular and traffic noise at night in the hotel if the window was left open, but this would only happen on one side of the building.

As a former monastery, the rooms were naturally small, and the mattress was firm, but thin. The hotel is a far walk from the train station, but we could see the Bay of Naples from our window. Some noise came from heavy doors closing and tiled hallways. Overall, an excellent value in a quiet community.

You can't go wrong for the price. It is about a 20 min walk into Sorrento but, we totally didn't mind the walk, for the amount of money we saved. The rooms were very spacious and clean. Overall it was an exellent stay and I would recommend it.

Porto Salvo is the best bargain we've come across in Italy. Our comfortable room with private bath was the least expensive we've seen anywhere, with the best breakfast (cereal, fruit, bread, pastries, meats, yogurt, juices, coffee) served buffet style in a sunny, communal dining area. And the service was excellent! Marie and her staff went out of their way to make guests feel comfortable, were very cheerful and helpful; for example, maps and schedules for all trains, buses, ferries posted in the lobby.
San Agnello is a small town with small town friendliness, much different from touristy Sorrento, just up the way. The only inconvenience is the lack of stores or shops within two blocks of the B&B; however, the town center is a very short walk or bus ride away and the area around the Circumvesuviana is full of shops, restaurants, etc. There are very good, inexpensive family restaurants within a few blocks -- Moonlight and Taverna Rossa (hand-made pasta!!). And the very best thing about Porto Salvo is the view of the Gulf of Naples and Sorrento. Incredible! We'll be back!!

We stayed in Bed & Breakfast Porto Salvo in the month of November 2006. The price for our room with separate bathroom (the bathroom was only for us) included breakfast was not expensive. Our room and bathroom was clean. We had a pleasant stay there, the crew was very kind.
Breakfast was good and there was enough choice. However the slices of bread were not always new.
The distance between Porto Salvo and the station takes a walk of 20 minutes. We recommend to buy the Campania Artecard if you want to visit Naples and see Pompei and other sites. This card is for 3 days and you have free travel in Naples and in the area of Sorrento. Also this card gives two free entrances and many discounts. Information at www.campaniartecard.it

We are so glad we stayed here and not in Sorrento. The hotel is extremely quiet and in beautiful location and close to a bus stop for trips into Sorrento. We opted for the budget rooms and so had to share a bathroom down the hall. The rooms were clean and comfortable, but the bathrooms were frequently in need of attention. I would recommend getting a room with the bathroom en suite. Breakfast was awesome: Meats, pastries, cheeses, cereals, breads, etc. Free Internet. I would stay here again.

Accommodation was very basic, but maybe for the price it is in keeping with the area. Have to say the the place grew on us. Breakfast was poor. We had to let a fly out of the meat/cheese covered plate!! Should provide maybe a toaster for the bread. Except for the bread there was nothing plain, would be good to just have plain croissants. Breakfast staff were not that friendly. Staff on the desk were fantastic, especially the knowledgable older one who gave us lots of info and the young obliging one who was very courteous. Wine was cheap and very good to drink.
Would not probably recommend it to anyone we know but would be happy to stay there again. The reason we were there was to meet up with some friends from Australia and we had a really good time.

We were a little dissapointed with this B&B. We booked a double bed room and instead got a VERY small room with two single beds pushed together and made separately. Several rooms share one bathroom. Keep in mind this has much more of a hotel or hostell feel than a true Bed & Breakfast as you are staying in a monastary and not a house. The location is very close to the water, but a far walk from the "action" or main streets. I would consider staying there again but it would not be my first choice. The free internet was great and was rare compared to most B&B's. The breakfast was above average.

Well, we came by car and found this nice bed&breakfast hotel places near the edge of the cliffs with a beautyful wiew over the sea and Sorrento nearby. Easy to park. Really, the only 'trouble' we had this week was that we did´nt get the rooms we had reserved the first night - but we were compensated for that with a lower fee and with an apartment with shower for the rest of the stay. Good food nearby at the restaurant Moonlight and easy to reach town with bus. 15 minutes walk to the train for Naples and Pompei. A tip if you want a free beach - take the bus to Marina Grande, a beatiful fishingvillage close to Sorrento. By sandwiches at the local store. It was football-worldchampionship and we spent some time with the host at the hotel watching Italy playing. We felt very much at home and appriciated the friendly conversations with the staff. Good breakfast.

Unfortunately, this facility had a computer problem before we arrived and they completely messed up our reservation. It required that part of our group look for a different hotel in the early morning hours. They then charged us for their mistake and the owners were not available so that we could dispute this charge. While a nice facility, I would not book with them again.

I really enjoyed my time at Porto Salvo. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly and really went out of their way to answer all of my questions and to arrange transportation arround the Sorrento area. The facilities were immaculate and well maintained. i liked having a room overlooking the lemon trees (was a nice plus). the rooms are an excellent size and the location is pefect for walking to sorrent but in a quite area away from the more crowded areas. All in all this was an excellent value and will stay there again for sure.

My daughter and I were very happy with our stay here. Owners and employees always very helpful and accommodating. Our bathroom was a bit narrow but lovely hot water permanently. The view was wonderful. Breakfast was great. Very good cheap trattoria up Via Capuccini. Bus stop into Sorrento nearby. Bit of a hike (15 mins)up to the circumvesuviana station but good regular service between Naples and Sorrento. All in all would come back.

The hotel is nice although a little spartan. Staff very friendly and helpful. The location is not nearly as close to the train station as 300 meters. It is more than 800 meters by the normal route. This was very misleading in the description on the web. San Agnello is NOT Sorrento, which is also a little confusing - Sorrento is close but requires a bus or train ride.

The DomusPortoSalvo is located 10-15 minutes walk from SanAgnello train station, along the Via Piede. Sorroundings are the church, another hotel, a couple of restaurants (possibly some noise from these, depending on the direction of wind). We had room #1 overlooking the mentioned restaurants and Naples Bay. In the garden below we had hens and rabbits, no noise from these either. Reception Staff were English-speaking and helpful. Spacious bathroom. Loose toilet seat, slow drainage in shower cabinet. Nice public rooms. Breakfast OK, with large coffee/tea-cups. One restaurant around the corner, good enough if you don't want the Sorrento nightlife (bus stop very close by, 5 min drive)
You may also choose between some around the San Agnello station. We will have no doubts about staying there again.

Our stay at Porto Salvo couldn't have been better. Rosario greeted us at the airport (there is a charge for airport pick-up, which is to be expected) promptly, and took the scenic coast route to Port Agnello. After a long flight this service was greatly appreciated! Our room was spacious, clean, bright and quiet (even a bit of an ocean view!). Breakfast was great in their sunny dining room and the garden was a lovely place to relax before dinner. Rosario was also very helpful and informative on which buses, trains and ferries to we needed to take in order to see all the sites we wanted. He and his family were so warm and welcoming, they make Porto Salvo a very magical place to stay!

Very disappointed upon arrival to discover that Porto Salvo is 2-3 kilometers outside of Sorrento! It was very inconveniently located for us. Although the staff was kind and helpful–they came and picked us up in Sorrento–they were not able to help us out beyond that with other problems that came up. Please make it more clear that this property is well outside and away from Sorrento itself. Also, I had made reservations 4 months in advance, requesting an oceanview room several times over those 4 months, and we were not given one. In fact, our room seemed like one of the least desireable ones with a nice view of a garage area. Seems like 4 months notice should have been enough notice to get a room with a view. Also, we had booked a room with a bathroom, and our bathroom was in another room across the hall. I suppose these things aren't really significant in the grand scheme of things, but, when you travel 9,000 kilometers to a place for vacation, it's nice to get what you expect and unpleasant suprises are a drag. A hotel shouldn't bungle reservations...that's pretty basic. Otherwise, the breakfast service was good and the beds/furnishings comfortable.

we had a great time in this place. It is exactly 5 minutes from the beach and has te most beautiful view of the coast line of Sorrento. There is a bar nearby for breakfast and drinks etc. The rooms are clean, quiet and calming. We had a separate private bathroom which was good. The hotel has loads of places to sit inside and out, a bar, breakfast and v friendly staff. It is a 20 minute walk to Te town centre but its along the coast and you see alot. the distance ensures a quiet nights sleep.Good for a young couple or group of friends.Price was great for all you get.Highly recommend!!!

Nine of us traveled filling 4 rooms. The staff was very helpful in helping us find our way around and coordinating the various schedules of nine travelers. All four rooms were great; some with views, some with shared bathrooms. All were comfortable and clean. There is no easy way to get to Porto Salvo! If coming in by train, get off at Sant' Agnello rather than Sorrento. Porto Salvo is worth the hunt.
