A lovely room in an ancient palazzo in a perfect position to enjoy all the treasures that Siena sports.

The only problem we had was that Venere gives a number to call Daniela, but it is the wrong number so there was no answer when we called to have her meet us there. Thankfully she came by the property and found my daughter there (I was off trying to find a phone to call again) and took our things up to our room. They were very accommodating, kind and the room was very nice.

Stayed for 3 days in Oct 07. Brilliant location just off the Campo on the second and third floor in a narrow street. Access involves stairs so if you have mobility problems, beware. Siena is easy to get around on foot (hilly in places) so P Masi is an excellent base. The room was comfortable though the bathroom was a bit small and an awkward shape. The breakfast room was bright and we took breakfast each day, though no-one else did. You could probably get something in town. Advice and recommendations for such things as restaurants were offered. We ate at the restaurant just across the road and it was excellent.

Daniela and her husband MADE our holiday!!! It was slightly confusing getting to the place (most of it was my experience with pay phones) but if you know you just need to find El Campo you're fine. You'll never be lost - every other building has a sign pointed in that direction. We were greeted by Daniela and her husband. Our room was quaint and had a good view of the street almost all the way to El Campo (caution, if you have problems with stairs this one has three flights). Bathroom was what I would have expected - small shower, nothing fancy, totally European. Daniela gave us recommendations on restaurants we should try (we tried them both, excellent). We were the only ones there the first night and didn't see or hear anyone the second night. We owe Daniela immensely, she is a saint. We were in a position where my wife needed to see a doctor and not knowing who to call I called Daniela. She was at our doorstep in 10 minutes, diagnosed the situation (as we find out she's a former nurse), made a couple calls and then had her husband drive us to the clinic where she acted as our interpreter with the doctor (and mind you this is 7:30 PM local). I'm still floored by her generosity. She mapped out our walk back into the city and highlighted all pharmacy locations. Situation resolved in 60 minutes. I was worried it was going to require all the next day. Nightmare avoided. For those of you that worry about soap and towels, this isn't the place for you. If you want a fun, safe, convenient, authentic location you're missing out by passing this one by.

There was a refreshing amount of great positive reviews online, so we decided to go for it. The location was unbeatable, just a few wonderful steps away from the breathtakingly beautiful piazza Il Campo where it stays festive till late at night, but afer having explored the town of Siena for a week we noticed it would've been a fair option to stay just outside the city walls and walk into the historical area for day/half-day trips instead of being in the smack center. Also, especially coming from Florence where a top-quality room with private bath and good breakfast was available for 80euro a night, the shared-bath no-breakfast overly-washed-cheap-towels (it literally hurt to use them to wipe ourselves... a first!) situation for the same price was a bit of an unpleasant experience. You could feel they wanted to economize, both cost and effort. (But we're not supposed to compare it with hotels, according to their info file out in the hall, which we understand given the historical cultural value of the property.) The "English welcome" feel was very nice, though, and we really appreciated it in relief. Small note: the keepers wait around right outside the door for you to leave in the morning so they can come in to clean, so there was some amount of weird pressure there. If the same room is offered for a lower price and credit cards are accepted, we would not hesitate to stay again.

The Palazzo Masi was good value for money. No breakfast was provided, but lots of small cafes close by.The position was excellent, Just a few minutes from Main Square. Directions were excellent & the reception was excellent. Only draw back it was very noisy in the main street below late at night.

This hotel has an excellent location and is a good place to stay. We had originally reserved a room without a bathroom but we upgraded at no charge, which was nice. The room was very spacious and pretty quiet for the age of the building, but we wished it could have been more quiet. The bed could have been much more comfortable (the springs poked our backs). Otherwise, the room was nice. The couple who runs the place was very helpful, and made a very good dinner recommendation. The public spaces were small (no reception), but that's no big deal. Overall: great location, helpful management, somewhat uncomfortable bed, pretty nice rooms.

Daniella is an extremely gracious host, and the property and location were excellent. The pillows could have been softer or more numerous, but that aside everything was great!

The B&B is overall great and the location perfect. The main disadvantage is the loud noise during the night (at least if like us you have a room facing the street).

Everyone is SOOOO right!!! Daniella is AMAZING!! We stayed for 3 nights and did not want to leave! The location is perfect and the room was fabulous. We were able to look out our window and see a flag throwing! There were a few times where it got a little noisy but we closed the shutters and it was much better. No complaints. We are definitely staying there when we return. Thanks for such a great stay Daniella!

Had an excellent stay at Palazzo Masi. Location was excellent and the welcome we received was unrivalled. Siena is a beautiful city with lots of intersting things to see and do. We also hired a car for a day to benefit from the surrounding Chianti countryside. We unfortunately only stayed for 2 days but will definitely return in the future.

My friend and I were very satisfied with especially the location of Palazzo Masi and the friendly service of the owners. The noise from the street woke me up a few times during the nights, but it was bearable. Our room and the shared bathroom were clean. The room, though, was not as nice looking as the photos on the webpages indicated. In my opinion the breakfast was okay but not that terrific (anyway, you couldn't get more for the money in a cafeteria either). We came by car, and tried to call in advance, but there was an answering machine on with a message only in Italian. Finally everything worked out well, and we even found a free parking place outside the city walls, which wasn't that far after all. I'd stay here again, but might ask for a room facing elsewhere than the street.

Daniella was a fantastic hostess. She provided us with great restaurant recommendations and expert driving directions. Because we visited in July, we needed to keep the windows open at night for ventilation and that meant we heard a lot of street noise all through the night. However, the location, just steps from Il Campo, was unbeatable. If I stayed at the Palazzo again, I would request a room off the street.

We moved from the room that we had rented for 4 nights after 2 nights, as the room we had was right next to the public shower and bathroom. Our room had windows facing the hallway, so everytime the automatic lights came on at night they lite up our room. Everytime someone slammed the door we heard the slam. The beds were so old that each side of the bed was sinking down in the shape of a person. We would not stay here again.

Palazzo Masi was amazing. We had a large, beautiful room with a nicely-sized ensuite bathroom. The decor was palatial, the welcome was warm, and the house was very quiet. It's right in the middle of Siena, as well. Everything you'd want in a B&B, for a decent price. Note: The breakfast, if you want it, costs seven euros per person. We went out for cappuccinos instead, since we're not big breakfast people.

Palazzo Masi was truly my favorite place to stay in Italy. It has a fabulous location so near Il Campo. The hosts are so incredibly friendly and helpful. They makie the world's best breakfasts if you are willing to wait until 9:00 when fresh pastries appear from what has to be the best bakery in town. The rooms were charming. Ours had a bathroom down the hall but others had their own. A terrific place.

I always wanted to be one of those persons with a key who disappears behind the big wooden doors. And this time I was. What a charming place to stay. It could not have been better. We arrived by train from Florence and called our hosts from the train station. We arrived at the property by taxi and they were waiting there to meet us, gracious and helpful. We got our keys and off we went. Worth mentioning is that there's a well-kept laundromat just across the street and a wonderful restaurant a few steps away as well. The location, just far enough off the Campo to avoid the crowd, was ideal. Cozy.

Daniella could not have been a more welcoming and gracious hostess. Her and her husband took great care to ensure we had a wonderful time in Siena. A beautifully renovated medieval building! Daniela is charming and gracious. Do be sure to call her at least 15 minutes prior to arrival - the mobile phone # she gave us went to voicemail, so we did have to wait for a while. Otherwise, a nice value, located near the Piazza.

It was very contrally located and within walking distance to all that you would want to see. However, the room itself was a disappointment. On the website, the room looked very charming and cozy, but in reality it was sparcely furnished. It did not reflect the beauty of Siena itself. There was not soap or change of towels the next day.

A very convenient place a minute from Il Campo in the heart of Siena. Owner was very welcoming, gave us lots of leaflets on nice walks around the town, and some recommendations for meals which were good. Room was very clean and spacious. Quite expensive for a bed and breakfast, especially given that the breakfast was an additional charge. Still, would definitely consider returning in future.

Since the owner doesn't live on the premises and you need to call her when you arrive, I would suggest she post on the front door her phone number and instructions to buy a phone card at the Tabacchi (in the Piazzo del Campo) and location of nearest public phone (which is in the cafe in the Piazzo del Campo). That way if someone forgets to bring her instructions they know what to do.

The position is excellent (about 100 meters from the campo)and that's one of the remarkable characteristics of the property. It's also very clean and the owners are friendly. But the breakfast is every day the same (!!!) and during the night you can hear a lot of noise in the street. Quality vs. price is not so good: you have to pay to much.

Our hosts were very helpful and arrived 10 minutes after our call, as they said they would. They provided some helpful materials about walks through Siena and answers to questions concerning bus and train transportation to other towns. Breakfast was nice and worth the extra charge. Our only problem was some street noise, probably inevitable given the great location so close to the Campo. And, we do go to bed fairly early. I am not sure how that would be during summer months if windows were open. The room and bath couldn't have been nicer.

Clean place with large rooms and clean modern bathroom. The hosts were friendly, and helped us carry the luggage up 2-3 flight of stairs. They had also communicated with us prior to arrival about breakfast being an additional 7 euros/per person and about having to pay in cash - so there were no unexpected surprises. Couple of minor inconveniences were: construction at a nearby building made the room somewhat noisy; and the walk with luggage from the bus station was at least 15 minutes (sometimes uphill and up and down stairs).

We arrived on a very cold day (snow falling and ice on the streets) but were immediately given a warm welcome by Daniela and Alizzardo. Our room "La Staffa" was spotlessly clean, spacious and, like the other rooms which Daniela showed me, tastefully furnished. The view from the ensuite bathroom was wonderful. We took Daniela's advice and dined at the restaurants that she suggestd. On both nights we enjoyed lovely meals at reasonable prices with very friendly service. Daniela suggested a few places we should not miss whilst in Siena. One of these was the Palazzo Chigi Saracini a fascinating building and collection of works of art. The location of Palazzo Masi just off the Palazzo del Campo was perfect. Throughout our visit Palazzo Masi on the 2nd floor was cosy and well heated. In the mornings Daniela and her husband prepared a very good breakfast which included fresh pastries from the local bakery. Our two days in beautiful Siena passed all too quickly and we can only praise the lovely accommodation and thank Daniela and her husband for looking after us so well....it was a real privilege to stay in their historic home. The palazzo masi is very well situated, just a few meter far from the main campo place. Its a very typical old palazzo but nevertheless room was very confortable and warm (we went there in winter and weather was very cold). Welcoming has been wonderfull. The owners are very nice, they took care of us and kindly sent us an email to explain the best way to attempt the palazzo and park the car.

It's always fun to write a review when you had such a great experience.... The place is gorgeous, a block away from Il Campo in a beautiful old street... although in the middle of everything, the B&B is very quiet... Rooms are a nice mix of old and modern, very nicely decorated... But the differentiator here is really the people... Daniella and her husband are incredible... upon arrival, Daniella gave us a perfect welcoming with a quick overview of the city, a map, recommendations for restaurants... speaking about restaurants, the medieval restaurant recommended is a must try... Very special... very authentic (no Disneyland there)... However, just a warning for people with food allergies... there are nuts everywhere and they were not super efficient at managing that even if my girlfriend had clearly mentionned she was allergic to nuts... But besides that, this is really a great place to try ... Back to the B&B: Breakfast in the mornings are very good and again, always served by super friendly people... I can't find anything I would change there... And I will certainly go back !!! PS: in case, you are still planning your trip and you are hesitating... do not miss Siena !! This is one of the most beautiful city I have ever seen...

Location, location, location! This place is right near the Campo, yet it was quiet and restful. The Masi's are very hospitable - even arranged for us to leave bags there until later on the day we checked out. I did forget that second floor in Europe is actually third floor to us: 39 steps up. But Daniela and Alissandro helped carry our bags. All in all, a very good place to stay while in Siena.

Daniela and Alizzardo run a fantastic B&B right in the heart of the city of Siena. We were minutes from Il Campo and among several favorite local restaurants. Accommodations and breakfast at the B&B were great. The low key appearance as a B&B, central location and hospitality makes Palazzo Masi feel like home. Although parking inside the city walls can be an issue, since parking at the central parking garage is expensive, Daniela provided us with a voucher for a discounted rate which really helped. Free parking is also available right outside of the city walls. My husband and I would highly recommend this lovely B&B.

Excellent location, very close to the Plaza del Campo. The owners are very friendly and helpful. The breakfast is very good. Only drawbacks is that we tought that "private bathroom" meant in the room, when in fact they are at the other end of the B&B. Would we repeat? Definitively yes.

Beautiful room, right in the heart of Siena, perfect for exploring all the sights on foot. If you are driving to Siena, be aware of restrictions and the difficulty of parking though! Superb location - believe what you read, you are seconds from Il Campo. We didn't have a detailed map of Siena so didn't want to drive directly in - we stopped at the train station and phoned the number given to us. The owner actually came to the station and we followed him to the door - fantastic service. Really nice service all round really. One negative point was that L'Arca room doesn't have an en-suite bathroom but it does have a private bathroom down the hall - I wasn't totally aware of this when I booked even though now reading the information again it doesn't say anything about en-suite. The other 2 rooms had en-suite though. Definitely recommended.

The property itself, its convenient location, the friendly hosts, and clean rooms were terrific. You couldn't ask for a better bed and breakfast. We would highly recommend Palazzo Masi while staying in Sienna, for two main reasons: the place itself and the owners. Palazzo Masi is centrally located just off Il Campo. They have two room types; superior and ordinary. The superior rooms are beautiful, with original wooden beams running across the ceiling, the bathroom was good too. The ordinary rooms are ok, basic but clean, with a shared bathroom, which was always clean too. Breakfast is great, and served with a smile by the Danielle and her husband. They were very welcoming and always available for advice and tips on what to do in Sienna, to be honest we didn’t meet anyone nicer during our trip to Italy.

It's location is excellent, just a short walk from the main square in Siena. Location, location, location! Palazzo Masi is probably less than 100 steps from Il Campo on a characteristically narrow Sienese street. Owned and run by the charming Daniela and Alizzardo who are very eager to please their guests. Rooms are large and comfortable with modern baths. Breakfast selections are fresh, delicious and varied. Have your questions ready at breakfast time—the proprietress will be very helpful. I thought Daniela's recommendation of the restaurant, "Gallo Nero" (medieval menu and wait staff in costume) sounded Disneyesque—WRONG! Try it. Good food, prices and atmosphere and the live musical performance was amazingly wonderful! If you need internet access, go to e-geko.net, on via di Salicotto, 130. Low price, great service.
