b&b - exterior The Burgundy Bed and Breakfast is situated in the Faubourg Marigny, New Orleans' French Quarter, a neighborhood which has bounced back after the devastation caused by Hurricane Caterina. This gay friendly New Orleans Bed & Breakfast is in close proximity to many jazz clubs, restaurants and bars on Frenchman street, including many of New Orleans' gay and lesbian night spots around Jackson Square.

Whether visiting the New Orleans Mardi Gras carnival, in the hunt of some great live Jazz or intent on enjoying other aspects of the city's colorful nightlife, this Bed & Breakfast is a magnificent and open-minded place to stay. Recently renovated in 2004, the property's owner has done his utmost to retain the building's authentic New Orleans feel, preserving the original fireplaces, hardwood floors and high ceilings. Pets are also welcome, provided that the owners consent is obtained beforehand.

The B&B offers free Internet access from its computer, as well as complimentary wireless Internet access throughout and local calls. There is also a jacuzzi and sunbathing area in the courtyard, where clothing is optional. Smoking is restricted to the back porch and the courtyard.

double room queen The Burgundy Bed & Breakfast's 4 guest rooms are individually decorated, the color schemes of 3 of them being inspired by the three main colors of the US flag, red, white and blue.

These passionately American rooms are as comfortable as they are patriotic, each one coming with a queen bed. The Blue and White rooms also feature a single bed for a third person. The Red and Front rooms offer a bath/shower, whereas the White and Blue rooms have a shower.

Much thought has also gone into the furnishings and fittings within each room. There is a writing desk, a cable TV with a VCR and a DVD player, an alarm clock/radio with a CD player, a direct dial telephone and free high-speed hard-wire and wireless Internet access. Rooms can be kept to your ideal temperature, as each one is equipped with individually controlled air conditioning and heating units. Hairdryers and ironing facilities are also available upon request.

HOW TO REACH THE HOTEL

By airplane
From Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport: the Airport Express Bus E2 leaves the airport frequently and costs $1.60, arriving at Elks Place, the Central Business District, where you get off. However, due to the effects of Hurricane Katrina, on weekends the E2 only goes to Tulane Avenue, where you have to transfer to the Tulane bus to Elks Place. From there, you can call the Bed & Breakfast's owner, who can usually pick you up. If not, you can walk 2 blocks to Canal and N. Rampart, and then take the St. Claude bus to St. Roch (about 5 minutes), only 2 blocks from the Bed & Breakfast.
