First thing - don't be fooled by the photo. "Radi", the town, consists of almost nothing beyond the hotel. The only habitation in the town of Radi is the hotel guests, the hotel owners, and maybe one other family. That being said... Hotel Pozzo di Radi is a great little place with decent accomodations, in an area South of Siena not as frequented by tourists. The restaurant, including breakfast, was quite good - 2 exceptions: pollo cacciatore and coniglio in umido, both were bony. The service was excellent, they met my wife at the car in the rain with an umbrella and were very accomodating of every request w/baby and dogs. Point of warning - only two hotel employees speak English, so it helps to be fluent enough to handle hospitality transactions in half-decent Italian. Also - this hotel is literally miles away from anything else. If you want quiet and solitude, this is the place. If you want hustle and bustle and lots of people, find somewhere else. The surrounding land is miles of rolling, nearly desolate, wheat fields - very reminiscent of certain portions of Western Kansas. It is approximately a 20-minute drive to parking in Siena.

Great atmosphere, wonderful family (and puppy!)and warm welcome. It was a very nice experience that we would love to repeat. Excellent dinner indoors and fabolous lunch in the garden on Sunday.

HOW TO REACH THE HOTEL

By car
From Rome, take the Autostrada del Sole highway towards Florence and exit at Valdichiana. Merge onto the Siena-Bettole freeway towards Siena and then take the beltway to the Cassia S.S.2 state road. Continue for 5 km/3 miles and then turn right towards Radi. The B&B is approximately 8 km/5 miles ahead.

From Florence, take the Firenze-Siena freeway and exit at Siena Sud. Follow along towards Buonconvento and take the Cassia S.S.2 state road. Continue for 5 km/3 miles and then turn right towards Radi. The B&B is approximately 8 km/5 miles ahead.
