Hote-Weingut Karlsmuhle was one of our favorite places we stayed on our family's European vacation. We wish we could have stayed longer it was so nice here! The country atmosphere is so relaxing and the river running behind the hotel is so beautiful. It really is a picturesque setting. The beds were very comfortable and the rooms very nice and clean. The staff was friendly and helpful. The food was excellent! We stayed here with our 5 children and it was nice and quiet. A great place for families or just couples. We can't wait to go back! really enjoyed our stay here with the evening meal and the breakfast in the hotel restaurant being excellent (included trout form their own trout farm and locally grown vegetables. Rooms were spotlessly clean and comfortable

Hotel is located in nice quiet surroundings. Less pleasant is that almost the whole hotel smells like a deep frying pan. Rooms are small, and the ceiling in the bathroom of our room was no higher than 2 meters (unter the shower even less). Beds are also not suitable for tall people. Personnel was polite and friendly. Breakfast was poor for German standards. Dinner was quite oke, food is reasonable, and the local wines served are great. Too bad that only one cd was played, which we've heard at least 3 times. Overall good price/ quality.

It was my third stay in this place and I would not hesitate to spend one week more in the near future.

This was my first trip to Mertesdorf and as a vacationer to Germany. This was one of my favorite places during my 9 day trip from Germany to Paris to Italy. The people in the community were very helpful and friendly. The staff at Hotel-Weingut Karlsmuhle went out of their way for our stay. The feather down comforters were a highlight for my sister. The breakfast at this hotel was our overall favorite to the four bed and breakfast hotels we stayed at during our trip. It was easy to travel about the countryside by bus and it was beautiful. I highly recommend this hotel in this small community outside of Trier.

After a very long Journey, I arrived very late at the Hotel. The welcome I received was first class and very friendly. I would have no hesitation in recommending this Hotel to others.

Benedict & his staff were excellent, his English is perfect making communication simple for us who have no command of the German language. Ideal location for young children, plenty of space & loads of farm animals adjacent to the Hotel.

This place was wonderful. We enjoyed walking the vineyards during harvest, eating wonderful food and exploring the Mosel Valley. We would definitely come here again.

This was a wonderful hotel that felt like home. Friendly staff, clean rooms, great restaurant, and relaxing surroundings. We loved that fact that the hotel was close to town but tucked quietly away in the vineyards. We would definitely stay there again.

Nice, typical German place sorrounded by vineyards and green hills. The old mill in the hotel's park, Trier (the Roman City of Treviri) and the Mosel valley will always stay in our hearts!

I am satisfied of everything, but a little bit disappointed when i saw that the rooms were in a modern and very plain building in the rear.I choose the hotel for a romantic weekend and got a very plain and standard room. not bad but that was not what i was looking for, based on the photos. They should include in the description that the rooms are not in the old part of the building.

This is a lovely spot, convenient to Trier but out the the "Bustle" of the city. The surroundings and restaurant are lovely, the owner very helpful and friendly, and the restaurant attractive with an excellent breakfast. But...the hotel rooms are in a newer but faded rear section of the building, with a dingy stairwell and halls, with a mildew odor. The rooms are clean but furnished with very worn-out cheap modern furnishings - what you might expect in an aging Motel 6. It seems to me, with the lovely, historic setting and attractive common areas, that upgrading the furnishings and hallways would go a long way toward making this a top small inn.

Hard to find location. Had dinner at the restaurant. VERY slow service! (outside). Breakfast: very good. Rooms: very plain, no "Gemuetlichkeit". The stairs to the rooms were a pain with heavy luggage. No lifts.

The associated resturant had an excellent menu with quality meals. We had a problem with the hotel in that we changed our arrival date but the owner claimed it was never received--we were charged a no-show fee which we will challenge.

A great hotel: lovely semi rural location with waterwheel and childrens play activities in the gardens, very good restaurant and welcoming staff. Only slight downside is the small bar area and lack of non-smoking areas in restaurant or bar.

My partner and I unfortunately had only one night to enjoy the surroundings and hospitality this lovely quaint hotel has to offer. we would have no hesitation in returning for a longer stay or to recommending the hotel to anyone. the staff were very efficent and helpfull and it gave us a great start to our holiday. We will return!!

I would definitely stay here again. You do need a car as the hotel is several kilometers from town but that is part of the charm. It is an excellent location for touring the surrounding area. The food is very good and the wine from their vineyard is very nice.

We have enjoyed our visit and hope to be back one day. It is a very nice hotel in a beautiful area. The room is big and nice and you have a good playground for children.

We had a lovely stay. Beautiful surroundings and restaurant serving good German food and some excellent local wines. A clearer map which indicated the names of towns the road continues on to (and would be signposted for) would have been useful.

This was a fantastic stay. We were looking for a placid, rural setting outside the city and we found it. The bus connection to town wasn't quite as handy as we were led to believe but we got to enjoy the walk to the bus stop. We would especially like to commend the managers of the hotel. They were exceptionally friendly and accomodating.

We did find it hard to locate the B&B. It is a hidden little treasure. For the price, you couldn't do any better. The food was excellent and the service was great. It is very clean. The only thing I noticed was that the playground was run down, but that was because we had a 2-year-old with us, and he wanted to use the equipment. I would recommend this B&B to anyone.

Would definitely recommend this hotel. It is in rural surroundings - very tranquil- but only a few Km from Trier., serves excellent Reisling from the on-site winery. Flies were a bit of a problem around the tables Manager ver friendly and helpful staff, plenty of parking, good atmosphere all round.

We had a very pleasant and restful stay. As we were one of two or three guests we got a very high level of attention. Rooms are very basic but very clean. The location/suroundings are very nice (even in the dead of winter when we visited). Would love to see it in the spring/summer/fall with the surrounding open space and vineyards, stream running through the property, etc. Breakfast was great and dinner was very good and a great value. Will return again.
